Madmanmcp Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Well I am still waiting to be able to have my official holiday off A real shame that a vet doesn't get Veterans Day off. Guess its the companies I work for Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 16, 2004 Author Posted February 16, 2004 (edited) One of these days we're going to wake up and every politician/government official is going to have their own holiday!!!!! Come to Sweden then. We dont have any special days for special people except our 4th of july (which is june, 6th) and some church related days like xmas and so on. TCH-Rob Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 One of these days we're going to wake up and every politician/government official is going to have their own holiday!!!!! As long as it is a paid holiday it is fine with me. Quote
Head Guru Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 Nah its just another day off for the US postal workers. I was really expecting something today.... Always happens. Quote
Madmanmcp Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 I was really expecting something today.... shhhh, still a lot of time left. But I survived my shift with no major server or network problems. cha-ching, overtime pay Quote
Frylock Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 No mail? D'oh! Well, that explains a lot.... I'm still lost, the WI primary is tomorrow, and I still don't know who to vote for... yeah... I'm so conflicted. That's the ticket. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted February 16, 2004 Posted February 16, 2004 I was really expecting something today.... Me too I hate it when that happens. Like the post office isnt fast enough as it is, they also get the most days off. Quote
Samrc Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Only thing I really enjoyed about being a banker: The extra days off (all federal holidays). Where I work now we didn't get President's day off, but instead, at Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years we got 4 day weekends! Much better trade in my opinion. -Samantha Quote
evelynmary Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Thomas, I know how you feel..Americans have so many holidys. In Canada we have the Queens birthday in May and thats it except for the churchie stuff. Quote
bellringr Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Bah, I don't want to hear complaining from the Canadians. The canadian branches of my company get THREE more days off during the year than we do. I tell you, it's not fair! I couldn't bank or send mail today, but by golly I had to be at work. Quote
ThumpAZ Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Today was a holiday? I wouldn't have noticed. In my line of work, Holidays are any day that your cell phone is broken and your internet connection is down. Someone told me about something called Christmas that happened a couple months ago. Could that explain the increase in hours I had right around the end of December?? Quote
vengavenga Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 Been living and working in Spain now for 8 months and holiday wise it just has to be the best ... A holiday for the smallest of excuses - and every town/village has their own ones. Nothing surprises me anymore, so if a local holiday is declared when Señora Gomez two streets away has her baby I'll just say "oh, OK - work mañana instead!" Ali Quote
bellringr Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 /cry I miss France! (except for the strikes ) Quote
MikeJ Posted February 17, 2004 Posted February 17, 2004 In my line of work, Holidays are any day that your cell phone is broken and your internet connection is down. In my line of work... that's when I really get busy, and sleep deprived. It also sucks that holidays and weekends tend to be referred to as "good maintenance periods". Quote
