  1. Welcome David!
  2. Yes...I was able to watch all the races this year except for the Busch race. Awesome!
  3. Welcome simonwh!
  4. Welcome to the forums overload! Don't worry about being embarrased by asking a bad question here. The only bad question is the one that's not asked!
  5. Strange! You may want to try looking in the support section on Micro$oft's website for some clues. Sounds like you may have a bad dynamic link library (dll) somewhere. But it's weird that there's not version number listed.
  6. Welcome to the forums, Maura!
  7. This sounds like a situation for the Tech's. Use the help desk link above and they should be able to square you away.
  8. Welcome to the forums! If you still have problems after following the above advice, then feel free to drop us a line here. There are many family members out the only too willing to help you out!
  9. This weekend marks the beginning of the 2005 NASCAR season here in the US with the Daytona 500. Just curious to see if the family has any NASCAR fans among them and who their favorite driver(s) is(are) and why. I'll start: Favorite driver: Mark Martin Why? Because in the current situation of NASCAR (high sponsorship and media responsibilities and huge ego's), he is, in my opinion, the ultimate class act. I had an opportunity to sit down with him at his motor home during a weekend that I was a part of the pre-race festivities. He is very down to earth and loves to talk about his son, who is also developing into a racer. What you see on TV is really what he is. Next?
  10. A "homepage" and "phpbb board" are two entirely different things (like the difference between a cat and a dog...the only thing they have in common is that they have 4 legs.) The only thing a "homepage" and "phpbb board" have in common is that they are both found on a website. If it is a homepage you are wanting, that is called index.html. See TCH-RobertM's instructions a few posts up. If it is phpbb, the basics are installed automatically for you. See this link for more information.
  11. Welcome to the forums and family! Yikes! That's scary. Your situation reminded me to review my AwStats as well as my other site parameters. I try to do that at least once a month to make sure things are acting "normal". Hopefully our tech guys can get you taken care of!
  12. For now, Acrobat. (Don't ask where/how I got it! I don't remember. Honest! )
  13. I too use Norton and haven't had the problem. Strange indeed!
  14. It depends on who else uses the computer. If you're worried about it, you can set a master password on the "Saved Passwords" section. Also, unless you click the "Show Passwords" box, you won't see the passwords in this section. Personally, I have a bookmark (using https of course) to my WHM. (I'm the only one using the computer, though!) Hope this helps!
  15. See? Another TCH family member comes through! Thanks tweezerman! Hopefully your short tutorial will help others out as well. This post goes into my "file away for later use" folder!
  16. Welcome to the forums. Ask any question you wish...the only dumb one is the one not asked! Hope you got your problem worked out! If you need more help, let us know!
  17. Welcome to the family adolfo!
  18. While I'm definitely NOT an expert in this sort of thing, I'm thinking it should be possible by using the same parameters (username, password, database, etc.) that you would if you were to access it from a web page using PHP. Your idea has produced some thoughts running through my head how I can get some people access to a database I'm using, so I'd be interested to see if this works. Hopefully we'll get some of the more MySql-wise people to chime in on this thread.
  19. If we could see the full headers of the message, that would help decipher where it went and how. Without that, we're merely speculating what may have happened.
  20. In my opinion, the different versions of Linux are like different makes and models of vehicles. No matter who you ask, you'll get a different opinion on which is best. That said, the more popular one for newbies that I've been hearing/reading about is probably Mandrake. I'm running Fedora myself, but again, that's personal preference. As far as documentation, simply do a google search and you come up with a BUNCH of excellent sites. Also, check the forums for the particular version you decide on. Lastly, don't hesitate to ask any questions of your family here. We have quite a number of excellent Linux gurus who are more than willing to help you out...no matter how silly or difficult the question may seem! (And I speak from experience on this one!) Good luck!
  21. I hate it when I do that too! As a suggestion, you might wish to use phpMyAdmin found in the "Databases" section of cpanel.
  22. Welcome to the forums!
  23. Welcome oogie! I second the backup idea (speaking from experience here). They are ALWAYS valuable!
  24. To me, this all sounds like the following equation: Micro$oft + any program or update = virii
