    Php Q

Hmmm.... what plugin is this that requires constant modification of .htaccess? So far, I've been either modifying .htaccess by myself, or changing permission only when required.
  7. Welcome to the forums, xplanes! Like Samantha said, generally, what employees produce on the job becomes owned by the employer... of course, the best thing would be to seek legal advice. In academic and scientific research, scientists may get the acknowledged/credited for discovering or inventing something. But when it comes to commercializing and licensing it, the university or research institutes is the copyright and patent owner, and they're the one profiting. All we scientists get is a name mention.
  8. Oops... where are my manners... welcome to the forum, wvcrafted!
  9. Please hold on for someone more knowledgeable than me (people with nicknames beginning with TCH, or people with thousands of posts to their name) for more authoritative answers... but here's my 2 cents... As far as I know, you'll have to purchase your own SSL cert. I think you can get some help installing it. From the looks of what you have written, it appears that a starter plan would do (700mb storage, 20gb bandwidth). But then again, with forums, bandwidth required really depends on the number of members and their activity/traffic level. You can always upgrade later if necessary. I'm not sure about the rest... sorry... Someone more knowledgeable than me will answer them soon...

  12. A friend of mine lived in another friend's house for a while... and everytime at night, the telephone starts dialing *all by itself* on speakerphone!! No one picked up on the other end... *shudders* (no... it must be a coincidence... that it happened every night... *screams*)
  13. It's technically spring in Taiwan, but today... max 30*C (86*F), min 23*C (73.4*F) - it sure feels like summer already! Hmmm... summer... beach!!! It's raining heaps now though... *sigh*
  14. Yup, wp-plugins.net is quite useful... and definitely checkout the plugin maker's page to look at the comments. I think it's a good idea to blog surf as well, some people list what plugins they use for their blog.
  15. Wow... a haunted dishwasher?
  16. Well, I know that CRT monitors uses magnets and/or electric fields to adjust the path of a stream of electrons, which hit a (phosphorus?) screen and cause it to illuminate. I think what you did is actually wreck the screen that the electrons shoot to... permanently warping its originally-flat structure. Don't try putting a magnet to your CRT monitor at home (unless you don't want it anymore)... even though your screen will look amusingly pretty for a while. What I wasn't sure is whether the signal generated by your cell/mobile phone or other RF interference-causing devices are actually affecting the magnetic field directly...
  17. Tim... Dripping FedEx package? Reminds me of "Cast Away"... I'd bet he would've loved to find a FedEx package with any food [remnants] inside... LOL!
  18. With regard to photo... I have to say this... if you can keep your photos for 100 or 200 years, your great great (x??) grand children may not be able to access them, because the file format now may become inadequate for future use. The problem for them might be finding a way to interpret all the 1's and 0's you left behind. The best way might actually be the good-old human-readable film. Most historic documents are in the human-readable paper and film format that has survived centuries. This is one thing that many archives worry about when they digitize their collection... whether they'll be able to read it in the future. If you still have files generated by very old programs, they may not be readable anymore... or are displayed weirdly. Imagine what'll happen 100-200 years from now. They probably won't have MSWord anymore (after Microsoft declares bankruptcy )... and have it replaced by OpenOffice.org (horray! ).

  22. I think CRT monitors are affected by cell phone and other interference because it's dependent on magnetism, am I correct?
