Cannot Delete Some Files On Server
GvilleRick replied to laburke's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
From the description it could be that the folders were created by an installed script so there may be a problem with ownership. You should submit a Help Desk ticket using the link at the top of this page and ask the techs to check the folders and change permissions or ownership. You can also provide a detailed list of what you want deleted and they can delete them. -
Did you follow Heyguy's suggestions in post #13 of this thread? You will need to edit the WordPress configuration options so that pages are published correctly.

Uhoh! Internet Explorer Cannot Display The Webpage
GvilleRick replied to BoxersRule's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
This actually sounds like an entirely different problem. If you can see the site but cannot log into the cPanel it is most likely due to something blocking access to port 2082 and/or 2083. This would include any firewall on your machine or network. -
As Thomas mentioned, you should contact the Help Desk as it appears there is a problem with the account. You should be able to change the password in cPanel under the Change Password option. I just changed the password on one of my accounts and it worked fine after I chose one that was not too short, not based on a dictionary word, etc. I'm not sure what you mean by the problem existing five days. If you submitted a ticket you should receive a response fairly quickly. Any problem can last five days if it is not reported.

Did you create the database in cPanel under the MySQL options? You also have to create a user and assign a password, and be sure to Add the User to the database using the drop down menus in the MySQL section. Also be sure that the database name and user name given in your PHP-Nuke configuration includes your cPanel username appended to the front of the datbase/user name, e.g. cpanelname_dbName.

Are My Name Servers Set Correctly?
GvilleRick replied to silica's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
The nameservers you should use depend on the server you are on. The ns1 and ns2 nameservers are likely the correct ones if your site is resolving correctly. -
Please Help Me With Hotlink Protection
GvilleRick replied to FlyingJenny's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
I ran a Google search for 'hotlink protection htaccess' and found a number of pages with sample code to put into your .htaccess file. The page found at this link specifically mentioned ways to block MySpace, Live Journal, and similar sites only. I would suggest backing up your .htaccess file before making any changes. A mistake in the file can cause the whole site to be inaccessible. -
Within the Packages menu you can control the number of email accounts, ftp accounts, email lists, databases, etc. Using the Package manager you can control whether Fantastico is included, and most other cPanel icons.

It could be a setting in Firefox under the Tools/Options/Content section. You might try going to this link for hints on what to look for.

From looking at the installation instructions it appears that the script requires customized server configurations. I do not think that it would be possible on a shared server. You would likely need a dedicated server to run the program.

You should submit a ticket using the link at the top of this page.

As long as he has access to the domain registration account and can change the nameservers it is not necessary to transfer the domain. He would need to check with the registrar of the domain to be sure he can change the nameservers.
-
I just looked the domain up at dnsstuff.com using the reverse DNS option. The other domains you listed are on servers 103 and 127.
-
That domain is on Server 381 which is experiencing a problem right now. You can see more by checking the post found here.
-
As long as you can change the nameservers with the registrar of the domain you can use it with an account here.

There are some graphics included on the Link to Us page.

If you have a TCH account you can add the IP addresses in your cPanel under the IP Deny feature.

Filenames and folder names are case sensitive in linux. It looks like your folder is called Forum and not forum. I see the forum at http://www.freesourcesrn.org/Forum/.

I generally store all of my files in the My Documents series of folders and just copy that folder over to an external drive. The IPod should work fine as an external drive. Congrats on the new job. My son's degree is in technical writing and he has just started working in a company in the DC area that sounds like a similar situation as the one you described on your blog. He is loving it. In two weeks I start back at school so sometime between now and then I have to reformat 15 or so laptops for new teachers that are coming in.

I have used w.bloggar in the past and it worked well. It works on your local machine and then connects and uploads to your website.

Just put unknown for any information you do not know.

Subdomain Disappeared After Url Register Change
GvilleRick replied to FilmBuffRich's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Rather than change the A record you should set the nameservers to the TCH nameservers so that subdomains set up in the cPanel will work correctly. If you want to use external DNS services from the registrar you would also need to set an A record for the subdomain to the same IP address as the main domain. -
I shot all of the shots on the auto setting just to see how it will respond. I am heading to Gatlinburg this afternoon and will be playing around more with the settings. I bought a 2X teleconvertor in Pittsburgh and used it at the baseball game Tuesday night but was not real pleased with the results. When I got home I looked at other lenses. I purchased a telephoto lens (80-200mm) and will be playing with it some this weekend. I also looked at a 75-300mm lens (FA J 75-300) but the 80-200 was only $5 more than the 2X telecovertor so I exchanged it for the lens. The 75-300 lens was $120 more.

I've been looking at digital SLR cameras for a while and the price finally dropped to my "too good to pass up" range so I picked up a Pentax *ist DL at my local Circuit City this past week. I had the chance to play around with it on a trip to Pittsburgh. The attached picture is one of my favorites. It is a view of the Pittsburgh skyline taken from the riverwalk outside of PNC Park.

It sounds like you may not have authentication turned on in your email program. In Outlook (Express) it is the option My Server Requires Authentication. Also in Outlook the Test option often fails even when it is actually working. You would need to try sending a message to another address to see if it is working.
