You first need to make sure that you have an account with TCH. =) Then submit a ticket to the Help Desk including your username and ask them to park it for you.

See this post. =)

Perl (basically CGI, some differences but close enough for now) and PHP are totally different scripting languages. PHP is far easier to work with, in my opinion. You can't install perl modules - you can view installed perl modules though. =)
-
No, you need .htaccess - if it doesn't exist you can create it using any plain text editor (NOT word or anything like that) You can not run formmail.cgi or any of its clones. It is highly vulnerable to abuse and so has been banned.

Cron always runs silently but emails errors. If you have an email address set for it to send to. =) I hate to say it but you're going to have to try rebuilding at some point - heck, what if someone comments or something? You may want to submit a ticket to the Help Desk and ask them when is a good time and if they can monitor it so that you can take it offline if it's broken. =) I definitely wouldn't do anything of the sort without their assistance at this point.

There is absolutely no way that we can help without knoowing what the cron job is, and what it does. Can you post it? Do manual rebuilds cause you any problems? Did cron happen to email you any errors?

Many Things Amiss On My Server 11 Account!
LisaJill replied to musicfrisk's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
What server are you on? You can check the server forum status's - there was a problem with 36 I think a little while ago. But nonethless, we can't help you with that here as mods don't have access to the servers. Only the techs that man the Help Desk can look at it. =) -
Help Password Protecting Directory
LisaJill replied to webgyrl's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Well, the answer is in what you posted... Directory requires a password to access via the web (you must check this to activate password protection). Emphasis mine. That means - yes, you do need to check the box. As far as the name; this is something you should add as it will appear in the popup asking for username and password - that way the end user will know what's being asked for and that it's "legit". I always add one that is short yet informative. It's a good practice to follow. =) -
There are many methods, they can monitor for the registration of new domains for one thing. It's all automated, not manual, at that. I don't think that more details than this is something that we should be posting publically. *winks*

Help Password Protecting Directory
LisaJill replied to webgyrl's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
In cpanel, you are looking for the option "web protect" - if you do not see that there then you should submit a ticket to the Help Desk to see if it's missing for some reason. =) Also, this isn't really a family only post and can help many members, so I'm going to move it to a different forum. =) -
That is absolutely not true. Just because someone doesn't have the technical proficiency to deal with an installation does not mean that they can't then learn to use the software itself. A lot of people have things that they need to get online without the time to learn the intricacies of getting the software to run and troubleshooting it. I, too, think that one-click installs for these software packages would be hugely beneficial. We'll see, though. =) Heck, I know how to do the installs and I'd still probably play with them more if they were offered with installers. *winks*

Bruce, I'm not sure what process you went through removing Firefox to re-install it; but if you did not get rid of *everything* including your profiles, cookies, etc - which it leaves in place with a normal windows uninstall - then it is not surprising that it wouldn't fix it.... =)

Blogspot is a free host that people can use to host their Blogger powered weblogs. It's paid for by advertising. Most of the sites that use it are subdomain.blogspot.com. It is legit. If you think that you came first and that you have a legal right to the trademark name, "Sophia Systems" and that the only reason she's using that is to infringe on your rights - then you can bring a lawsuit. Note, I'm not a lawyer and the above gibberish that I just spewed may not be entirely accurate. But you could check with a lawyer for the "real deal".
-
I don't have to do that and didn't on my pc when I was running .6. If you're having problems like that then you should check your cookies as that is how it remembers the passwords. There may be something awry with your profiles as well.

I'm always amazed when someone codes to CSS standards but doesn't use xHTML. *winks*

Nope, just submit a ticket and they'll look into it. =)

This may be related to this thread. You may need to submit a ticket to the Help Desk to have this traced and see if that is the problem. =)
-
You need to contact the Help Desk for that - I'm not really sure what information they need. Just let them know that you're coming from bloghosts and want to take up the transfer, and they'll let you know what details to send. =)
-
Cpanel is the backend that you can use to manage your account - that includes viewing logs, setting up ftp and email accounts, installing some scripts, setting up databses and some other things. If you do a cpanel -> cpanel transfer then all your settings from your bloghosts account will be moved here so that you don't have to set up everything again. I hope that clarified things. =)
-
Two things: 1) Make sure you check out the Bloghosts Refugee special if you haven't already. 2) You don't need a special script, you just set up Blogger to publish to a remote host as per their instructions here. Hope that helps!

It's not a general Mac problem. Or rather - I've never seen that problem with either Opera or Firefox. I'm not sure about Omniweb, Safari, or any of the others. =)

As far as "building archives live MT and Wordpress" - that depends what in the world you mean. *winks* Let me explain. MT builds static .html (or whatever) files on the server; unless you're using the new dynamic setting which also rules out most plugins. Wordpress does everything dynamically. So does EE. As far as divs with wordpress - just because the default templates are complicated you don't have to stick with them, you can put in something simple. But txp's default template is very simple (and far nicer than wordpress' IMO) EE has a pretty steep learning curve, although it's easier coming from an MT background; imo. Just based off our previous conversations I'd point you at txp. I think it's more along the lines of what you want. =) Go ahead and IM me. You know me - if I'm busy I won't answer. *grins* It is the last 2 weeks of the semester so that has been happening quite a lot. However, if my TCH IMs are online then I'm there and available. =)

If smilezone is a domain that you have hosted here (I didn't see a link like that in your sig) then you would need to submit a ticket to the Help Desk . I'm not sure that our system is set up something like this; but it is technically possible in general. =)
-
Not only does the name baffle me - but we don't have any plans with such low storage. I absolutely hate to ask this but are you sure you sent the ticket to our support guys? *whistles very, very innocently and doesn't mention that she's made some really silly mistakes in her past* Hopefully someone else might have some insight to this, as well. =)
