    Blog Software

MT fan here, and it is free for one author w/o tech support. Whatever review you look at be sure they are discussing MT 3.2 which made a whole lot of improvement over prior versions.
  2. Every time I see this thread title on "New Posts," I think of this:
  3. I'm in.
  4. In a word: Yes. In more than a word:
  5. It doesn't seem to work for me. The script writer says, "you will need to have read access to ‘/proc/loadavg’." Do we have such access?
  6. I found a php script for a server load display button here. The code is as follows: The above php file is supposed to be in the main directory and then linked to by: Is this safe and secure? From what little I know about code it appears to be, but at the same time if someone told me the code allowed someone to reroute military satellites from my site, I'd just node my head and say, "I knew that."
  7. Is this "hard ware upgrade" in any way related to the Major Announcement?
  8. Count me in as a recipient as well.
  9. Since I don't know what a "CSS DIV tag" is, I'm going to say no. I just html'd the links into my index template in Movable Type. I occupy a strange place in the tech spectrum. Among non-tech people I am a tech-God. Among tech people, I am tech-weenie. After reading the MT manual, I decided installation was too much for me and I paid to have my site blog installed. (I had already done the rest of my site myself.) However, this should not reflect poorly on MT. It is not easy to install, but that goes hand-in-hand with the fact that I believe it is the most feature rich/flexible/powerful, best blog software available. And, while possibly not easy to install/configure, it is very easy to use. Once installed, I just started using it without reading the manual. It is very intuitive. Good luck.
  10. LOL...fishtanks do appear very popular: Apple Fritter Apple Collection But, I kind of like the idea of a litter box:
  11. I still have my Apple IIe and Mac SE30 sitting around taking up valuable desktop real estate. I never use them except to play one game on the SE30 every year or two (Strategic Conquest). I can't put them in the attic because of the extreme temperatures/conditions. But I'm having trouble parting with them because of the fantasy that I'll someday do something with them or use them for something combined with the fact that they were expensive to originally purchase. They have no donation or ebay value. Any ideas what to do with them? Should I just cut the emotional strings and toss them?
  12. For what it's worth, I've got a blog front end with a regular old html site behind or along with it. My front page www.danzfamily.com is the blog, but if you look at the navigation in the upper left it will lead you to the rest of my site which are just html pages. I had the regular website first and then installed a blog which took over my prior front end index page. The two (blog and non-blog) are easily mixed.
  13. Given that the pilot may already be packing enough firepower to single-handedly bring down one of the largest buildings in the world, I'd feel a lot more comfortable knowing that he was additionally packing some personal firepower to dissuade anyone from trying to take control of the bigger weapon. Thick doors are nice, but sometimes the best defense is a good offense. If you knew tonight an intruder was coming after you and your family, would feel comfortable with just a reinforced door or would you rather have a little bit of firepower at the ready?

    Gmail Problems

I use and LOVE Gmail. At home on my desktop I have Google Talk which has a built-in notifier, on my laptop I don't have any notifier and at work I use the regular Gmail Notifier. I did notice a period last night where I couldn't login. It wasn't the first time, but the problems for me are very few and far between. Once logged in, I've never had a problem with being unable to send email or half--loaded emails.

    Blogging Software

Well gee, someone got to recommend Movable Type. I run it and LOVE it.
  17. (Click the Image) The American Flag Project is a collection of American flags flying at people's homes. Please click on the above image to visit the site and submit a picture or to simply view the pictures that have already been submitted. Thank you, DWD
  18. And here I though I was fairly computer savvy. I have never heard of "regex" or of using the "|" symbol. It worked perfectly!!! "atlantis|hacker|discount|poker|texas|randppro" got rid of 100% of my referrer spam. THANK YOU DAVID
  19. I agree, each ring has its own navigation. For what it's worth, most of my rings are affiliated with Ringsurf.com. I don't remember what it was, but for some reason I had problems with, or maybe like you, didn't fully understand what was going on with Webring.com. I remember one Webring I was interested has strict rules on how it was to be displayed which contradicted with how I like to display my rings and that was a deal killer with me. As to Ringsurf, I have had any problems. I format all my rings as follows: < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring < ? # > Name of Ring I just like the way they look this way! (And its all about looks right?)
  20. In cPanel, Web/FTP Stats, Awstats, Links from an external page, Full list, Exclude filter...can you, and if so how do you, exclude multiple words. Such as if you want to exclude poker, SPAMMER-BEWARE, and texas. I have tried just listing the words, separation by commas or semicolons, separation by "and"...but I can't seem to get anything to work. I've also tried doing one exclusion, hitting enter, and then doing another exclusion but this does not work as the exclusion do not build on each other, so to speak, but rather the second one takes the place of the first, and the term from the first exclusion returns.
