I just did a DNS lookup on you and found: Glad your happy... and thanks for joining the family.

You are welcome... this is what I used on all my sites for a long time. I will be honest though, only used them once on sites that I moved here to Total Choice Hosting... have been content with awstats (I do occasionally look at the raw logs though).

You have been added (Commercial Sites ) SEO Thoughts: Your site is not in the Google Index You have not done the 'basics' with regard to optimization. I would strongly suggest that you begin reading the pinned topics under Web Site Promotion. Start at the bottom ('SEO... What is It?') and work your way up (be sure to follow all the links). If you have any question... just, post them here. Good luck.

Samantha, your site is added (nonprofit/information members). SEO Thoughts (not ranked in order of importance): Not in Google's index. 1. You have too many keywords (Meta tag), focus on the most important. Also, remember to list them in order of importance (the most important first). 2. [preface: remember that I am speaking in terms of SEO only] I do not like your Meta description and title. I tell you what.... give me a list of your top 12 (or so) keywords and then we will go from there. To be continued....

Sorry for the delay.... changed.

You have access to your raw logs and can dump those and then run programs like Analog (with Report Magic; both are free downloads) to get what you are after. Analog Information Report Magic Information

I have always added this line to the .htaccess file: >ErrorDocument 404 http://www.sitename.com/404error.html [after creating a 404error.html file]

Any insight into the problem/fix? All can learn from head scratching (or in my case hair pulling).

Sorry Jim... was away. Yes, subdomains can redirect. You can edit the subdomain1's .htaccess file with: >redirect 301 / http://www.mywebsite.com/subdomain1/ That is a tougher answer... depends. For the search engines, it would be for only one update (typically one month). If you have stubborn pages referencing a link to those pages/domains, then forever.

I know, I always validate... this is karmacriminal's code. My point was that this is not the proper way to do it.

Just got back in town from a long (too long) July 4th Weekend. You are on my list.

No... that is not 'true' PR. That is what I call reductive PR... acquired from association to truly indexed pages.
-
The new version was supposed to be more spider friendly. Actually, this was one of the reasons we decided to upgrade... well, at least hotbot and google like it! Since July 3 Google has 'read' 2820 pages from the forum and still reading. Not bad! Time will tell if they actually get indexed, but looks very promising.

You never responded to Matman.... what he is saying is correct. Compare: http://www.abbainc.biz/agfa1.htm to http://www.abbainc.biz/agfa1.jpg Meaning your changes to your images are working but you are overriding the 'size' within your html.

Great post Jim! A couple of comments. I recommend (complements to Rick) creating an image that simple has the text 'Remote Linking Forbidden' or something to that affect and save it as an unused file type (e.g. hotlink.png). Then do not include that file type (e.g. .png) in the RewriteRule: >#RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp)$ - [F,NC] Then you can enter a redirect to that file (e.g. http://www.yoururl.com/hotlink.png) In addition, it is common that certain FTP programs do not 'show' the .htaccess file. You can always view or edit it via the cPanel's file manager. One last warning.... you must always upload a .htaccess file in ASCII If your site is indexed by Google, then your images will be indexed as well... thus you can test hotlinking at Google Images

Going Nuts With Password Protecting A Folder
SEO replied to Renes2003's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Go to your cPanel. Under 'Site Management' click on 'Web Protect' Click on the name of the directory (folder) you want to protect. Note: navigation is a bit confusing in the beginning when using cPanel's file manager. To navigate through directories click on the folder (not the name) to select a specific folder (or file for that matter) click on the actual name. Give the resource a name (e.g. images) and add user name(s) with associated password(s). Good luck. -
Samantha: Not sure what software you are using to create your files but see if there is a global replace (case sensitive). If so (which there should be), it would be a snap to change all the HTML within the site quickly. Hope there is.

Family members, I leave town early (too early!) tomorrow morning for a long July 4th weekend. Would like to wish everyone a nice weekend and spectacular fireworks! Again, have a GREAT JULY 4th!
