Just a quick correction in your wording So we all understand, these are not error logs, they are referred to as your 'raw logs' or 'access logs'. These provide the raw data for any statistics program (e.g. AwStats) to use and analyze. An error log exists too; it is used for diagnosing problems relating to the web site. Any errors the server encounters will be logged into the error log.

Looking For Googlebot I. AWStats 1. Log onto Cpanel 2. Under 'Stats', click AwStats Stats 3. From the menu located on the left side, click Full List (under Robots/Spiders visitors) This will tell you what spiders have looked at your site. This is very generic information (i.e. no specific pages, no specifics of the actual spider, etc.). Also note, 'Hits' does not refer to the number of pages. One page generally involves many 'hits' (each graphic for instance counts as a hit). The amount of bandwidth gives you an idea of how much was 'taken' but again, be careful. What if the spider visited the same page multiple times (which is quite frequent). Again, I warn that this information is very generic. II. Raw Logs - the 'Real Deal' 1. Log onto CPanel 2. Under FTP Section, click on Manage Accounts At the bottom of the page, you will find how to download your logs. Once you have your logs viewable, search for 'googlebot/2.1' this will show you all the actual pages that Google visited. A sample would look like this: The IP address (64.68.*) indicates this was a fresh crawl. You can see the date of the crawl (June 3) The file crawled (dried_flowers-whl.htm) Note: the 301 means that this particular page had a 301 redirect Further comment: Logs are reset at the end of each month, so the logs of today began on May 31.

In order as I see them: You need a Title tag.... probably the most important. Get rid of the bravenet counter... sort of a scam. Moreover, you do not need it with the stat programs available in cPanel. You have way too many outbound links on you main page (index2). Create a resource page and move all the outbound links onto it. I would strongly encourage you to eliminate your welcome page (change index2 to index). I know this will change the visual... but it would be of great benefit. Put Alt tags on all your images. Put Meta tags (the once I speak of) on all pages. You need to rethink your keywords.... for 'big' hints read (or re-read): this and this ... enough for now. Come back if you have questions or when you are ready for round 3 P.S. Warning! Most search engines (the good ones) do not like these kinds of submissions. It is best to go directly to the Search Engine and submit by hand. For the little guys, I would not worry; but then again, the little guys do nothing for you in any way (including offering an indexed backlink). Just be darn sure to not use this for any of the majors. Next on my 'to write' list is 'Search Engine Submission'... but do not hold your breath, I have too much to do! Here are words directly from Google: Bottom line, I strongly discourage use of any such service.

natimage: Cloaking vs. disallow (or noindex) is indeed very different.... as Jack explained. Actually, the search engines like disallow or noindex in the sense that it helps them avoid pages, which do not need to be spidered. Why would anyone every want a page not spidered? Well many reasons... private images, private content. I never have spiders index form pages, not necessary. In addition, I can have a directory full of scripts with html files for documentation purposes... I do not want those indexed.

ThinkDigitally: This script (Matt's FormMail) has serious security flaws is not allowed on any TCH servers. I will get Head Guru to confirm this. As for an alternative, review these: this and this Hey Jack.... didn't you put a cookbook version of this up... I could not find it.

Dsdemmin, what is your feeling on having a robots.txt file? Does not hurt, the below allows all robots to visit all files >User-agent: * Disallow: This is primarily used to disallow certain files/directories/etc. from a visit though. This would ban all robots from the cgi-bin directory >User-agent: * Disallow: /cg-bin/ Remember: This must be a txt file, it needs to be in your root directory and named robots.txt (i.e. case sensative). Does not hurt.

Recently 61.* = fresh and 216.* and 218.* = deep. No telling right now... things are just 'not what they used to be'. I have a feeling that the index will be changed shortly (weeks). Your logic (one month plus one month) is sound but if my 'feeling' is correct, you may get in quicker then the two months. Regarding your site's rank: If after you get these pages indexed and you are not pleased with your rankings, let me know. I will have some suggestions on your internal links structure. Large sites usually have an overall disadvantage. However, you can take this disadvantage and turn it into a big advantage with proper structure.

You are not in Google's index but I believe this is a new site... True? The best way to get indexed by Google is to have other web sites pointing to yours. You know have our family page pointing to you so it will be indexed. You have not incorporated any SEO techniques that have been described here at TotalChoice... there really is a wealth of knowledge to be applied. I would strongly recommend you read all the pinned threads in the Web Site Promotion Forum. Also, read Search Engine Optimization - An Overview, link found on the main SEO page. Make yourself a strong cup of coffee and read all of these over... then come back with any questions. I promise it will be well worth your time.

Curtis: Site added SEO Thoughts. You are in the Google index PageRank is too low. The most important 'clue' I can give you is to remove most of the outbound links from your home page. You have way too many. Just create additional pages where these links go to an internal page and then they can link out. Make sense? No, I do not think so. The fresh bot is crawling deeper these days and acting a little differnt. If you would like this confirmed, give me the IP of the bot. No month long dance. This past dance began on May 2 and was completed on May 20, which was a substantially longer 'dance' then usual. As I have stated in other threads this dance has given very unuasual results (i.e. they had some problems). I belive (as others) that there will be a quicker turn-around to the next dance... they have to get things back in order. Accurate statement. There was an extended time between the last two dances. Now that things are messed up, the next duration will not reveal what pattern may follow. It was nice when things were relatively consistent (i.e. monthly). We shall see ....
