Along the same css lines, I like how M3avrik did it. It is even 'cleaner'.

Several possible solutions: 1. Hidden text (without being considered spam) ><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD><TITLE>Testing DIV tag</TITLE> <STYLE TYPE="text/css"> <!-- P { FONT-SIZE: 12px; COLOR: #666; LINE-HEIGHT: 17px; FONT-FAMILY: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, sans-serif } h1.hide { text-indent: -100em; } P.hide { text-indent: -500em; } --> </STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY> <!-- Hide this header --> <H1 class="hide">Content to be indexed</H1> <!-- Hide this sub-title --> <P class="hide"><b>Nice Title Here</b></P> <!-- Hide this text --> <P class="hide">This would be the body of your text. I would suggest using an outline form with keywords in header tags, in the beginning of sentences and within sentences. </P> <!-- Main content embeded inside a Flash movie --> <DIV style="POSITION: absolute; LEFT: 0px; TOP: 0px;"> <TABLE BORDER="0" CELLSPACING="0" CELLPADDING="0" WIDTH="100%"> <TR> <TD ALIGN="center"> <OBJECT … this would be your flash> </OBJECT> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> </DIV> </BODY> </HTML> 2. Just add 'real' text below the flash... no one will ever know it is there but the search engines will 'read' it. 3. Use a no-flash detection script, then provide an alternative HTML version. Good luck.

I understand what you want... you want to rank the results of a search engine ranking page based on their PageRank (the ole double rank). I have never played with Google's Web APIs. I have always wanted to, I have several cool ideas. Not sure if you can get to actual PageRank data but if you can, this might be the ticket. On a side note: Jim, it would be very safe to say that you should go after the top rankings sites for backlinks. I agree in your logic, but remember: 1) an actual rank does correspond to PageRank (I know that lower PR sites can be listed above a higher but still, it is directly associated [i.e. high with high]). 2) the time you put into discriminating could be put into getting more backlinks and, as we all know, the more the merrier. [if you ever dabble with Google's API, let me know ]

Some would say (actually I think most), "Well, have you tried Google" You are referring PageRank when you use PR correct? As they state on their site: Think about it Jim, PageRank is for a specific page and independant of any reference to a 'search term'. Therefore, how could you do a search 'on a string' and get results based purely on PageRank? A ranking of pages solely based on PageRank would be the same regardless of the search string unless other 'text-matching techniques' are involved. Make sense?

Yahoo's listings uses Google, Google uses the DMOZ directory... that is why you are 'seeing what you are seeing'
-
Not necessarily... generally this would pertain to a discussion on getting pages 'indexed', not PageRank distribution. Your pages are indexed so, not an issue. It is more about 'how' your pages are linked. You know the ole flow chart 'this page is connected to that page and that page is connected to.... and so on and so on (and scooby dooby dooby, different strokes for different folks ... oh sorry!). Anyway, as I said can't really give you specifics without really looking and I honestly do not have the time. Sorry. Well I have known people who submitted sites (not their own) to different directories to increase their value. Do you link to them? Little things like that

EdHosting: Don't 'Select All', just select the individual tables you want (i.e. no links or graphics). Within the tables that contain graphics (e.g. bar graphs), I just delete the graphics.

I simply cut and paste, table format is preserved and looks as good as the original in the email.

Two choices here: 1) You can always upgrade to a reseller account and host as many domains as you would like. The price is very reasonable and it is a common choice for many of our family members. Look at reseller accounts here 2) Instead of multiple domains, make multiple sub-domains... they are free and you can have an unlimited number!

I have not found any that are both free and accurate. Here is one example that is free (but not real accurate): www.rankpilot.com

From Google's own mouth: Quality Guidelines - Basic principles: It is very, very rare that Google singles out an individual company by name... that should say something (and does). I have read through their material since their early days, they used to be big proponents of doorway pages and other techniques that are considered all out spamming today. I have always approached SEO from a logical point of view. If I am uncomfortable about a technique I do not use it. I think in terms of 'if I was Google'. Even if the technique reaps benefits, if it does not 'seem right', I do not recommend it. To answer your questions more specifically: 1. Yes, you can get penalized. 2. Correct. 3. Correct. 4. I always say that 'results' do not lie. How good are they, look and see? Do they get 'real' results? Meaning do they get sites high rankings using the most relevant search engine phrase? How do they rank with the most relevant search engine phrase? Proof is always in the pudding. [i.e. stay clear]

SEO Thoughts: You are in Google's index and have a PageRank of 4. You have one relevant backlink 1. Get more relevant backlinks. 2. <title>: <title>Eastside church of Christ in Shortsville, New York - www.TeachUsLord.com</title> Get rid of www.TeachUsLord.com 3. <meta name="description" Visit the Eastside Church Of Christ in Shortsville, NY. We update our website with new articles every 2 weeks so come check them out. Get free Bible Courses, and more at the Eastside church of christ's website! Teachuslord.com Visitors gladly welcome!" Too long! How about: Eastside Church of Christ is located in Shortsville New York (NY) - visitors gladly welcome! 4. <meta name="keywords" These are ranked in order of importance. Therefore, you are saying that 'shortsvile', 'ny', and 'new york' are your top three phrases. I do not think this would be true, is it? Get rid of the space after each comma: shortsvile, ny, new york, ... to shortsvile,ny,new york,... 5. BIGGIE: All your internal pages should have a link back to your home page, did I miss it? Also, I would have the link entitled 'Eastside Church Home'. Non-SEO comment: I love the home page: very clean and professional. It looks like the internal pages were created by someone else... different look and 'feel'. I would mimic the look of the home page and carry it throughout the site. Make sense? Good luck!

It looks like your choose the phrase 'online multiplayer gaming' to be your number one phrase. Well, not bad results: Google PageRank is 5 Relevant backlinks: 67 Total number of backlinks: 1,740 Number of pages indexed (Google): 1,480 Rank (on Google) for 'online multiplayer gaming': 3 Not bad at all! Improvement: 1. Get rid of the 'The' in your description ( The Online Multiplayer Gaming Network...) 2. Most of you internal pages are not getting PageRank passed down to them , this has to do with internal link structure and is a topic I can not discuss unless I look at your site more closely and sorry, that would take too much time. 3. As stated before: This is easier said than done. I'll see what I can do... 4. Get a DMOZ listing. 5. Get more relevant backlinks. 6. Turn those non-relevant backlinks into relevant backlinks. Again, good job! Thumbs Up

Out of costume. Yes, Jim the quote you supplied is misleading... no 'power', it is just that the directory is 'used'.

PDF format might be the way to go (I think they are approximately 1/10 the size of TIFF files). Good luck.

Not sure what you are thinking here. There is no real 'migration' to any search engines from DMOZ. Now maybe a spider will pick up your link from DMOZ but again, no real migration. Google's directory is DMOZ based. It also gets site descriptions from the directory, which is why when you look at a Google ranking page that some descriptions are straight from the DMOZ directory.

One more comment regarding PageRank and the Google Toolbar... PageRank does not always show up (meaning it shows just a blank bar). The backlinks always seem to show up even when the PageRank is blank.
