Hi Melanie, welcome to the forums. The domain name and hosting are separate, so you will need to purchase the hosting as a "new" client, and you will get a different login and username for the hosting side. For the domain name, just put "yourdomainname.com" ie, don't put a http:// in front of it, or www, or anything else, just the domain name.

Have a look at http://www.naomifilter.org/ - Naomi, which is a freeware internet filter. It also has a link to various other filter systems on that page.

Linux (ubuntu) although I have dual boot, and haven't convinced the family away from windows for their machines yet (but I haven't tried very hard).

Hi yi ai bao, welcome to the forums. What Bios do you have? 1 beep could be either "everything OK" or a memory / motherboard issue, depending on your Bios. Since you say it's not memory, then the indication from the Beep code is that it's all OK. In which case, I'd turn to the power supply. Have you got a spare you can try? Or try unplugging all non-essential items (CD, DVD...) and trying then.

Hi Sri, welcome to the forums Log into cpanel, then go into the database section. Put in a name for your database, and select create database. In the user part (on the same database page) give a username and password, then create user. Further down on that page there is a point to assign the user to the database. Just select the user and database, make sure the all privileges box is ticked, then add the user to the database. You should then have a database created, with a user able to access it.

JD, I just had a look, and you can post without registering. You need to login to the admin panel for your board and turn that option off, which will cut down a lot of your spam.

Looking on the desk - I can still see the ticket, you submitted it at "Posted on 09 Oct 2006 9:19 pm" the reply was at; "Posted on 09 Oct 2006 9:24 pm" I have not checked the ticket key, because I logged directly into the help desk, and then searched for that ticket ID. Having said that, there is no point us arguing about why you can not access that ticket. I will respond to the ticket again now, so that you will receive an email with the link again to access the ticket.

The ticket was replied to in the help desk within 5 minutes of you submitting it, on 9th October. The ticket is still there, answered, and closed whilst awaiting a response from you. As Thomas says, the moderators do not have access to the help desk, so you need to reopen that ticket, explain in more detail (as was requested) and ask for it to be followed up(or you could open a new one, but reopening the existing one is usually best, as it keeps all the information together).

Bill is aware of the cpanel bug which is affecting some aspects of Squirrel Mail when accessing via cpanel. If you want to discuss it directly with Bill I'd suggest in this case, you reopen your ticket, and ask for it to be escalated to management. That way it will be seen by Bill.

It could be a number of problems, including an issue with the CD. Can you read the CD OK on another computer ? (including copying all files from it, to check that there is not a problem in a specific part of the CD). Have you checked your hard disk? To make sure it has no errors. (You should be able to do this by booting to "DOS" from the XP installation disk.

Eric, Can you open a ticket, and ask the techs to check the security settings on the server (for the first problem) and also the root_path in the php.ini for the second issue.
