Rob, Thanks for the info on the free version. I know that when I first got it (early last year) the free version was limited to only UK and US residents. Good to see they've opened that up now!

Someone from the Globalscape (CuteSite Builder) forums had turned me onto AVG. I have it running on 95, 98, 98se, Me, XP, and 2000 machines. Those machines run everything from IE4 to 6sp2, Netscape 4.2 and higher, Outlook Express 5 and higher, dialup, satellite and DSL. Automatically updates the reference files (on a schedule that you setup). Mine is set to check for updates when the current reference file is older than 1 day. I have yet to have a machine get a virus that couldn't be detained by AVG, nor have any of these machines locked up while using it. It's a clean little product and free to US/UK residents. I'm not postitive, but I think the other European countries and others must pay for the product....even so, it's comparable to Norton and McAfee in the $40 range. I also have the NetAdmin version running on a network (small: server, 11 client pcs) and it's a great product too for the sys admin to ensure updates are done and to view things like last scan on each pc, vaulted (contained) viruses on each pc, etc. And again very reasonably priced. Just my experience and wanted to share.

After going back to a restore point prior to an update, the update needed to be reinstalled. But it wouldn't reinstall because it said it was already installed, but the update page said that it wasn't installed, but BelArc Advisor said it was installed,...well you get the idea. I contacted microsoft tech support via email for help in getting the problem resolved. After about 2 weeks of corresponding with them, we finally got the install to go proper. Seems like a big hole in the restore process. Moral of the story? Don't screw up and have to do a restore!

Shawn, I'm moving your post into the Code Section of the forums in hopes that it may get attention from those in the "know".

My two cents (which may be worth zip in the exchange rate, but...): AVG Antivirus - FREE Edition has proven itself over and over again for me and many of my clients. Sam, try it out in combo with your current version if you're concerned at all. Not to start a bashing session, but every single experience that I have had with Norton and Norton products has been a complete disaster. I once spent 9 hours fixing my Dad's pc after Norton SystemWork *fixed* it. McAfee was my pick until their online subscription services updates kept locking up my pc and then double charged me after I cancelled service. (stepping down off the box now)

YAY Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up *YAY* This was a most excellent choice, HG. Congrats, Turtle!

AFAIK, cPanel's Forwarding functions are the only way to do it. That said, I personally don't find that interface troubling. What is it about it that you find "uneasy"?
-
*YAY* Rip! Good work, Twisted.

Chris, No, one entry means one entry. By the time deadline rolls around if there are any two entries by any one person, they will both be disqualified by the judges. By my count, zethilone still only has one entry submitted, albeit different from his original submission.

No, I take this to mean that there are indeed three separate hosting accounts, or at least there will be when the issue is resolved. Likely, you are using the same name to attempt to create the new account as one you've already used for one of your existing accounts. Which is ok, but you should sign in to the Help Desk with your existing info and click the link at the top to "Place a New Order" to add another hosting package to your existing account. The hosting plan accounts will be separate and unique, but registered under the same billing username. Hope that helps. Please use the online support chat options or issue a help desk ticket using an existing account to resolve this if you are still having problems. Thanks.

Hey! Welcome aboard!

AH. See if the .filter file exists in the home directory. If so, then rename it or delete it. I've seen this before...I think

leezard, Sorry, I guess I read too much into the original request.... I though he wanted ANY and ALL emails sent just into the one address. If that is the case then set up no additional email accounts and set the default to the main account username. If not, then set up the email accounts that should have their own mailboxes, then set the default to the main account username and all email that is addressed to an account that does not exist will be sent to the default. Whew.

Thanks Rick (who just implemented the script on one of my db's and saved me a ton of time having to actually learn something)! You rock!
-
Surefire, If you create no email accounts AND you set the Default to username@****** THEN all email sent to anyone@****** will arrive in the username@****** mailbox.

cmuskett, It's not so much that you've used subdomains, but that you have multiple individual, non-related sites hosted inside one hosting account under one domain name. As presented in your post, this is against the policy here. Sorry. A single account/site for your family, including the geneology site as a subdomain would indeed be acceptable. A single account/site for you designs and a subdomain with your adoption site (while on the line) is acceptable. A single account/site for all four is not as they are not all clearly related to the main site (the domain).
-
You should have your welcome email at the alternate address you provided.

*YAY* New toys! Thanks all.

THANK YOU! You know I never cease to be amazed at how honest people can and will be. It's always a delight to run across those that strive to follow the rules and get informed. So for that I thank you. Don't panic, ok? You're not in danger of being shut down or anything. Just make it right.

Yes, iffy, that is a violation. If thissite.com was all about the "Children of Mine" AND Each of the subdomains (one for each child) were an extension of the main site SAY More details, etc about the son and his particular hobbies, interest, life, etc. That would be acceptable.

Mitch (cerealkeeler) just checked on your account and it IS active. It appears the email address that you used with your hosting order is one using your hosted domain....this can and has caused problems... Please PM me a different email address to which we can resend your welcome email. (click the PM button under this post to send Private Message) Thanks and Welcome, Home!

The forums were taken offline for a few minutes this evening (about 6pCentralUS). We apologize for any inconvenience this caused, but it was truly necessary. The cause: a "guest" was posting in most every forum, curse-laiden topics and replies. We took the forums offline to clean them up (ie: deleted the offensive posts). ...The IP address of the "guest" has been banned on this forum. Let me be very clear - A single post describing the situation and issues in a polite and civil tone would have remained on this forum. Instead, the "guest" chose to use profanity (lots of it) and not even detail the real issues that they had with TCH or their hosting plan. It was clearly a vent of frustration and anger. We invite this TotalChoice Hosting customer to submit a helpdesk ticket detailing their issues (without profanity) and have the problems addressed by our very competent technical support and customer service staff. Our thanks go out to the very many consciencious family members here that reported the posts to moderators/admins! Bravo! Your actions allowed us to quickly catch and fix the issue. We appreciate your dedication to the family and these forums as a clean, safe place for us to grow and learn together. Sincerely, Lianna Stover
