  1. Wayne, that's a bit vague. I'd say that you need at least those files, perhaps also a search.php, if the search code is complex and you want to keep it separated from the index.php code.
  2. Glad you got it fixed, Robert Thumbs Up
  3. rmulhern, 2MB is PHP default and the value used here on TCH's servers, it's not the maximum PHP can handle. As Tangentidea said, you can change that setting in .htaccess Tnagentidea, as for your problem with MySQL, the MySQL manual says: It also says you can change that configuration option but you need to do so through MySQL's console or by changing it's configuration file. I don't think there's other way to do it and since we don't have access to any of those in a shared server environment, I'd say we're out of luck
  4. Welcome aboard, mangarevolution!
  5. Bodsham, welcome to the family! Thumbs Up And thanks for letting us know how you fixed your problems, I'm sure someone will appreciate it! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Oh, by the way, the "free" on Open Source Software is not free as in "free beer", it's free as in "Free speech". What this means is that the main purpose of Free Software is that people can do whatever they want with it, modify it to suite their needs, etc. It does not mean you can use it for free, that's just a consequence of the main philosophy

  7. Just for the record, updating Firefox from version 0.8 to a more recent version without removing all the old files first is a certain way to get into trouble, so if you want to upgrade from Firefox 0.8, be sure to delete everything (including your profile directory) before installing the new version.
  8. I also like IPB a lot but I do think vBulletin is by far a superior product. I do not like it's admin interface much either but it's internals are very very solid and well thought. As for phpBB, I used to like it a lot but over the time, it has been lacking features that have become standard to most other BB systems. If only phpBB 2.2 had already been released....
  9. 1st Page 2000 was a very good web page editor! I used it a lot when I was still on Windows. I think they discontinued it, though but if you manage to download it again (be carefull, keep Bruce's warning in mind), give it a try. Oh, and about this It's just my opinion but I think that's the best way to make a webpage. Maybe use some sort of Visual editing tool (like Dreamweaver, or... Dreamweaver, or... well, you get the point ) to start the overall layout but then I think the best way is to edit the code by hand. Visual editors are simply not as good as our own eyes when it comes to writing good code
  10. Don't use MS Publisher! Please! I beg you! I'm serious, don't use it. Don't even think about doing such a thing. MS Publisher is not a real web page editor. It's a Desktop Publishing Tool and it's good for making small magazines, small books and other non-professional tasks. It has no web page editing capabilities whatsoever, so when it comes to the "web site wizard", what Publisher does is export an image of the page ("paper" page, not web page) you're working on, create a badly formatted HTML file (as it is usual with any Microsoft HTML editing tool) and put the image in it. It's really very very bad. I can't believe I'm saying this but I think even Frontpage is better than Publisher to make a webpage...
  11. Thanks for the update, Dorsey. I'm sorry we missed your post the first time but I'm glad to see you found your way. Thumbs Up
  12. I belive the big problem with pure breeds is related to their genetic heritage. In order to create pure breeds, breeders have to select which dogs are going to mate very carefully. But since sometimes money speaks louder, breeders force dogs of the same family to mate, which is very very risky, because of genetic disorders - just like it can happen with us, humans. For instance, if a recessive gene (I'm not sure if that's what it's called in English... are there any biologists here?) that is responsible for some mental disorder is present in both the mother and the father, the puppy will certainly have mental problems. This is exactly what happened with a Cocker Spaniel that a friend of mine had. After 8 years of living happily with his family, the cocker simply went mad, one day. He attacked my friend's mother and if it weren't for her husband to be at home, he could have hurt her pretty badly. They had to lock him on the bathroom and called the veterinarian, who managed to sedate the dog. When he woke up on the vet hospital, he was completely out of his mind. Nobody could try to touch him, nobody could even get close to him, including any other animals. He stayed there for a couple of days until they decided to put him down. Unfortunately, pure breeds are just prone to this kind of mental problems. They can snap just like that. And, IMHO, that's why their have the undeserved fame they do.
  13. Thumbs Up
  14. Glad you found the problem, mad
  15. I just love when dogs lay on their back with their front paws hanging like that They remind me of Ed, the crazy hyena from Disney's The Lion King Nice photo. Thanks for sharing it
  16. Lisa and Bob are correct, you'd need shell access to do this and since TCH does not provide shell access on it's shared servers, you'd need a dedicated server do have a CVS server running.
  17. I found it on the cPanel forums: http://cpanel.net/remoteaccess-php.html
  18. Chuck, doesn't that make the sound play continuously and all the time (even if the mouse isn't over the button)? Anyway, I believe that's IE specific, meaning it will not work with any other browsers. I could be wrong, though. I never used sounds on my web pages, so I'm not 100% sure about this.
  19. There's no safe way of doing that, because playing a sound file requires an external plugin or application, which you can't be sure your visitors will have installed in their browsers. Also, many people find having sounds on a web page to be something really annoying, so I'd recommend you'd keep the buttons simple, with no sounds. Moving for organisation.
  20. Robert, you have some redundant code, there. You're using both the valign attribute for the <td> tag and you also use the vertical-align CSS property for td elements. That could be part of the problem.
  21. It's cPanel's "catch all" address. Anything that reaches the mail server destined for an @yourdomain address will be droped into your "catch all" address. You can click the "Default Address" link in your cpanel's "E-Mail" section. There you can set the options for the default address.
  22. You're both right, actually That's a known problem in IE. The famous "whitespace bug", as Zeldman called it in his book, "designing with web standards" (which, by the way, I recommend to anyone who wants to make a web page, even if a simple personal one). But what Don said is also true, there are some problems with using CSS to set table cells' spacing and padding. Robert, about the Macs, what browser did you test that on? I ask because I'm sure it's not a problem with the OS itself but something wrong with the browser's CSS implementation.
  23. Mike, I was going to reply to your message a few hours ago. Unfortunately, my internet connection went down and now that it came back up, it looks I'm too late. Anyway, can you tell us what the answer is? It may help other users. By the way, I'm moving your post for better organization.
  24. I installed coppermine as a test the other day and it worked OK. Are you sure you're entering the correct path?
  25. Does that mean you hadn't solved the problem when you posted that last message? I thought ou did. Well, I'm glad you did it this time
