  1. Are you sure its different? Looks like its sorted in a different order and is just not displaying the same. But really can't tell because I can't scoll down in the picture.
  2. I didn't see this the first time I read the note and it may be the reason for the problems. The laptop was setup here and probably already has the "Automatic" settings for the IP and DNS that Andy mentoined. What maybe needed is to have those settings changed and IP's for them manually entered. She may need to contact whoever is her DSL provider now or the school admin if she is at school .
  3. After reading a couple of the knowlegebase articles I would step back and look at what was done before the error. Your problem may have started by installing a version that does not work in Windows XP. Frontpage 2002 I believe is an old version and 98 is probably not even supported anymore. If you installed 98 first it may have started the problem and 2002 can't get by the error. Its also possible that the 2002 Upgrade will only work with a copy of Frontpage 2000. I would check the MS Office Web pages to check and see if the 2002 version will work with the 98 version. If you have the original box it should have the requirements listed on it.
  4. Here is an article that gives a little insite into the possible why's. Anytime something new comes down the pike and someone wants it, is not a good reason to jump on the bandwagon and load it up on all the share servers. A lot of us who share our resources will not be happy when we get hit with possible slowdowns. Customer Service also means treating the rest of the customers on the server fairly. From what I read the Ruby on Rails "sounds" great but might not be a good fit on a shared hosting platform and they recommend a dedicated server for best results. h_tp://clickablebliss.com/blog/2005/12/27/php_vs_ruby_on_rails_part_3/
  5. If I remember correctly, TCH has no control over what is available in cpanel. The makers of cpanel decide what apps are included in it.
  6. To host more then one site you can purchase a reseller account or 3 separate $4 plans.
  7. You can "park" another domain on top of the current domain which will show the same content for both domains. If you mean 2 separate domains with different content, then the answer is no.
  8. I believe this is the patch for the latest Exploit. h_tp://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=58471
  9. Phillip, here is the section you need. You need to assign different ports to different computers so the online game knows which computer to send the information to. Here is the page with the instructions for Linksys routers. Hope this is what you need. h_tp://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=mgi0652p
  10. Hi Phillip, I would suggest you check the support pages for the game you are trying to play. I did a search on Diablo and found the game(s) on blizzard.com. I browsed around their support pages and found references for multi-players on a LAN so you probably need to set your LAN up the way they need it. Here is a section to start at that covers networking. h_tp://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=msi0423p
  11. The 100% packet loss is telling you what you see with traceroute, nothing is able to reach the IP. There is a routing issue at hopone...which I believe is used by the datacenter where some of the TCH servers are located. I would submit a help desk ticket to make sure someone is aware of the problem. You can point them to this thread to view your traceroute.
  12. Glad to hear you got the old clunker running again.
  13. Here is what I beleive will be a good solution until the patch from Microsloth is made public. h_tp://www.grc.com/sn/notes-020.htm
  14. I agree, booting into safe mode before attempting detection or removal is your best bet. Some trojans use stealth and can avoid detection and removal. They will have a separate program that runs at bootup to reinstall itself. Trojan Hunter is what I used in the past but I believe it has gone commercial. Download is here. h_tp://www.majorgeeks.com/download1232.html
  15. I remember CWShredder was a good one awhile back. Download it from here. h_tp://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html
  16. Mike, a lot of times removing a trojan requires different steps. I'll need to check some of my notes to see if I can dig up a generic Trojan removal program for you. In the mean time read these instruction at Symantic, there is a whole section on Win 98. You'll need to edit the win.ini to locate them under the run command. h_tp://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.horse.html
  17. Hi Mike, something is trying to install itself at bootup and needs the new "Windows Installer". I would check your startup group and see if you see anything there that should not be and remove it.
  18. Do you have a friend who has a Windows and a Mac networked together. With a network you can share the files from the floppy to the floppy on the Windows PC easily.
  19. there is a router issue over on the east coast then...I don't get the site. I get Cannot find server or DNS Error Internet Explorer
  20. Submit a ticket at the help desk...something is out of whack
  21. Yeah, its a big pain in the rear end. Awhile back M$ came out with a Security or Update CD and it had all the current (at that time) updates and patches on it. It was free and I of course ordered it from them. It was shortly before SP2 came out I believe. I use it often and it cuts down the number of downloads and reboots that are needed on fresh installs.
  22. The "Do Not Call List" has done wonders at my home. Yes we still get a few, but these are slowing down also after receiving a couple blasts from my air horn. h_tps://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx
  23. I think this is the regular monthly patch that comes out on Tuesday. Its not a new bug, just an old one that is finally being fixed. Now I went to Windows Update yesterday checking for updates and didn't get any...guess I went a little too early and it wasn't posted yet. I'll have to check again today.
  24. 16GB is too small, wow. I remember my first hard drive I put in our IBM XT's, it was 10MB and I thought I would never be able to fill it up. Of course it originally only had an A and B drive which were 5 1/4" floppies and held a whopping 360kb. The DOS OS fit on one floppy and was always in the A drive and data was put on the B drive. Those were the days. Yeah, Rob's suggestion of enlarging the partition with Partition Magic would be your best bet. Sounds strange that Sony would split that HD into three partitions and leave the C as the smaller partitions. But PM is a great program and makes the task very simple.
  25. Bruce, I forget the specifics but for Windows ME there was an update that I had a conflict with either a program or piece of hardware and the fix was to uninstall just that particular update. I remember at the time it was a real pain for me because each time I visited the Update site it wanted to install it again and I would always forget and "do as I was told" Anyway, I would suspect that if there were any other conflicts you would have found them by now so getting rid of those would be OK...BUT...they are a part of Windows and sometimes taking out little pieces tends to break other pieces. I would look for an alternate solution, are there any other files you can do without? It sounds like a HD upgrade is needed, There are lots of sales out there for large drives. And if you are tight on space now, purging those temp files will only be a temp solution. Once you start running low, you will run low again in a short period of time. Go for another drive
