Why do you doubt this? If you have had a good connection previously then this would explain the intermitant connections. I don't think its the modem. If it were the modem then it would not work, period. I would wait till later and find out when they are finished working in the area. If they are done and you still have problems then you need to troubleshoot.

If its a wireless mouse, replace the batteries. They maybe running low. If its a ball mouse have you cleaned it? Ball mice collect dirt and dust and the "rollers" need to be cleaned.

h_tp://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1953833,00.asp and it was announced on the day of the big update patch...

Micro$ofts newest "update" has a prize included...if you have an illegal copy of Windows a popup will now tell everyone nag you till you say uncle and purchase a legal copy . Now I don't like people who knowingly steal the software but really now. The majority of folks out there had no clue when they purchased the PC built at the local Mom & Pop PC's are Cheap shop that the version they got was illegal. I don't like this move at all! h_tp://star-techcentral.com/tech/story.asp?file=/2006/4/25/prodit/14029720&sec=prodit

Jayson, is this new or something left over from your last escapade? If its new I would suggest you start being a little more careful and stop visiting the places you should not be visiting. These trojans and backdoors are nothing to play with and sooner than later you will end up having to have someone fix it and pay them some serious money.

As Tim said, port 80 is used by http and web servers listen to that port and keep it open. Hackers will scan that port and search for known bugs in the possible web services that would be running, IIS for instance on a Windows server. I don't believe you will have web services installed on your home PC and your software has blocked access to the port and you are secure from that specific port scan.
-
Jayson, which port was being scanned? Nowadays port scanning is a common occurrance and most of us turn off the logs for the common port scans. I'll take an educated guess and say it was port 138 that was scanned...as long as your firewall is blocking them I would not worry.

JD, if you haven't heard, FANTASTICO has been added to cPanel for everyones use. I noticed a package called SMF that you might want to look at, its under Discussion Board. And there might be some other useful scripts for your website there.
-
Thats the JD I know...but from past experience I know to wait a little while before answering

Maybe its the adapter in the laptops not being compatable with WPA-PSK? Did the laptops work at work before switching to WPA-PSK? Swich back to WPA and see if they connect.

If you assigned a static IP for the AP does it fit into the range used by the router which is running DHCP for you? DHCP calculates IP's based on a range you specify and the subnet mask and not all numbers in the range will work. Try reassigning an IP in the range that has already been assigned to another device and see if it will work. Do you really need to assign it a static IP? Try letting it acquire an IP from the router like all the other devices.

Well I've never heard of Zonealert and when I did a sceach of google it came up with a lot of things not relating to your problems. With little to go on I would say delete it. Now are you sure you are cleaned up correctly? A lot of trojans are written to hide or be in stealth mode they will reinstall themselves after you reboot. So reboot the computer and rescan to be sure everything is gone.
-
Sorry to hear that Jayson. If its as bad as you are saying there is probably only one way to fix your problem and I really hope you have a backup of your important files. Look around for a program called Trojan Hunter first and see if that will help. If it doesn't then I am afraid you will need to nuke your system and restore it back to factory default.

Darn, Monday Night Raw did not make the A list

This error is not about your space but the space at the "root" of the server. You are in the same position as everyone else on your server and its a TCH problem. I am sure they have gotten an alert for this problem and they are working on freeing up space shortly.
-
See if this helps. If you are using Internet Explorer, Under Internet Options, Temporary Internet-settings... , Increase the "Amount of disk space to use" and see if that helps.

MY first question would be...if this is a company computer is there an Admin or someone who is responsible for the upkeep of these computers? Normally this is their area and they do not like it when users install programs and start trouble shooting problems on their workstations. Now, it is getting more and more difficult to find and remove the thousands of pests that are roaming around trying to infect your computer. They are being specially written to avoid detection and to hide from other programs. They are being written to even be invisible to the Operating System and to restore themselves after being deleted. Bruce has given you a few programs and it looks like you already used some of the best ones out there. Have you tried booting into "Safe Mode" and then running them? In Safe Mode, these programs won't run and when not running they can not hide from the scanning programs. See if that helps, otherwise you will need an expert to help you. An lately the experts say the only thing that is 100% sure to get rid of these "rootkits" is to nuke the hard drive and re-install from scratch.
