Thanks, Larry. I'll work on some quick instructions for users to reference! -kw

Yea, two years ago I had the 50th birthday of a lifetime - we got about 75 people together, set up microphones, and PA system, and amplifiers and pianos and guitars, and had a blast making music for the evening -- everything from Beatles to James Taylor, from Randy Travis to Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith. I'm ready for another one of those rock n' roll evenings! -kw

Next toy? Has anyone played with the newer PocketPC phones with GPS and interfaced it to a Microsoft server running Exchange? I have a customer whose cell phone broke, and he went out and got one (Siemens SX56) on Friday afternoon at 4pm. Naturally, he wanted to know why I wasn't already over there to hook it up for him! -kw

Duh! I thought SquirrelMail was simply a workstation email client. But then, it's written in PHP and would porbably be installed on your server. Is that correct? If so, I guess I have some exploring to do this weekend! -kw

Chuck, Sounds like you're ready and convinced to sign up with TCH. If so, welcome aboard! -kw

Tony, I got my email last night, and logged on to the new and improved support site. It all works great. One word of caution to everyone: when you click on the link in the email you receive from TCH, it opens up a browser window which asks you for your cpanel userid and email address. After entering it, a message displays saying that an email with a generated temporary password will be sent to you shortly. Be sure to then close that browser window at that point. Otherwise when the generated reply email comes from TCH, and you click on the link, it may redisplay the current browser window and you may get confused as to where you are or what you need to do! kw

Accessing your TCH mail accounts via the web requires access to port 2095. So you would need to check with your network administrator at your business to see whether they block it or not. I can't tell you about SquirrelMail - except that it is written in PHP and is designed as a web browser based mail client. http://www.squirrelmail.org/about.php The fact remains that the path to getting your mail on your server is thru port 2095 leads me to wonder if or how it would help. Any SquirrelMail gurus out there???? -kw

Last year it took me 5 hours to hook up my new DVD player so that it would work through my receiver and surround sound, and so we could still play our VCR, and play music - from one remote. Boy, was I in a crabby mood that day. I look at the back of my TV wall unit and see cables everywhere, and dread the day I might have to pull it out to fix a problem! -kw

Chuck, TCH web sites come preloaded with another board software (phpbb), which many use. You can see a demo for it at: http://www.phpbb.com/ As far as this particular board, Invision is available for free download at http://www.invisionboard.com/ -- but it is up to you to install it on your TCH web site. But, since you have noticed the user support we offer, you will find no lack of help and advice from others if you get stuck installing it. HTH! -kw

Watch out now ... my ego bruises easily But it's my knees that are killing me. Getting old is tough! :-) kw

My wife went out and bought the DVD of A Big Fat Greek Wedding and we watched that. Outside of watching repeats of The West Wing, we usually look for Rick Steve's travel shows on one of the PBS stations - especially if he is touring thru Italy. Ciao! kw

this might be a stupid question (gpg)
KevinW replied to shammer's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Sorry. As to putting it on your web site, don't you simply upload the public key .asc file to your web site and make it available for download? -kw -
For me, the Calendar would be most useful for identifying schedule down times. The birthdays are OK - as long as no one can find out how old, errr young, I am. As to any other uses - the only thing I can think of that would be useful would be to add the scheduled dates of well known computer conventions, seminars and trade shows. -kw

Awstats skiphosts and access log
KevinW replied to Jimmy Legs's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Now aren't you the smart one to come up with an easier solution. Way to go! As your reward, you can take the rest of tonight off! -kw -
Glad you appreciate the support here! There is a Eudora user's group that iused to be fairly knowledgable and responsive. The problem was, of course, they have no control of the software, and it was anybody's guess when they might release a fix or a new version. I was quite surprise when I discovered they had recently release version 5.2. I used Eudora exclusively for years, first because one of my customers used it, and then because it wasn't apt to get hit by all the Outlook & Outlook Express type of viruses. -kw

Awstats skiphosts and access log
KevinW replied to Jimmy Legs's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
why not create a crontab entry to automatically copy over a saved version of your .conf file each morning - and schedule it for sometime after the stats have been updated? -kw -
Awstats skiphosts and access log
KevinW replied to Jimmy Legs's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
There is a prior post in this thread where the Head Guru was quoted: "AWstats are a global setting, thus each user can not control the settings. Sorry about that." -kw -
Don't know about TCH installing one ... but here is a link to start you on your way -- it's a thread from the phpbb forum about adding a calendar to a phpbb board http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t...ht=calendar+mod -kw
