Welcome aboard. Although we are not in the business of web page support, if looking for a simple web page builder program, several of us use Globalscape's CuteSITE Builder. TCH is looking at actively marketing the product as well. -kw

Today's computers come with 128MB of memory or greater. Back in the 1970's I was working on multi-user computers that had a whopping 32KB of memory -- yep 32,000 - not 32 million bytes of memory! Even as recently as 1989, PC's came standard with 20mb disk drives. Now, I have 128mb of memory disk hooked to my keyring with a USB port! And people wonder how we got ourselves into the Y2K problem (only storing the last 2 digits of the year)! -kw

these might help: http://www.gwsa.net/I AM A SPAMMER/index.html http://forums.cpanel.net/showthread.php?s=...ighlight=api%2A or you could try registering with the cPanel forum and post your question there: http://forums.cpanel.net/ -kw

Here'ss how to find out your "real" home address for use in your CGI scripts: 1. Go to our new TCH Help Site 2. Click on Tools and Scripts 3. The first box is for a utility 'env.pl'. 4. Go ahead and run it if you;d like, but then click on 'Download this file now' 5. Unzip the env.zip file you will get, and then upload it back to your web server 6. Then run it on your server: www.mysite.com/env.pl -kw

Web site design is as much using the artistic side of the brain as it is the logical, programming side - perhaps even more! The right mix of colors, images, layout, size of fonts, etc. all deal with presentation - a far cry from my COBOL and FORTRAN programming days during the 1970's! -kw

George -- no sweat! Your plan is exactly the way to do it: 1) upload your web pages to your new TCH site using the IP address & username/password TCH wll provide you 2) once you are ready, then contact your domain registrar to change the two DNS names associated with your domain name to point to your new TCH web server, also probvided in your letter. 3) wait generally 24-96 hours and eventually the wrold wide web will be propogated with the information that your web site (www.yoursite.com) is now located at TCH! 4) once that is complete you can then delete the files off your old domain server and close out your account Welcome aboard! -kw

New Totalchoice Hosting Help & Support Web Site
KevinW replied to Junior's topic in Latest Hosting News
Scott, thanks for the kind words about the new Help site! -kw -
I don't work with error pages myself -- any chance the problem is related to the fact that they are named with a .php suffix? Meaning, are .php named files acceptable for use as custom error pages? That's why the suggestion to see if editing the .htaccess file may be helpful. -kw

New Totalchoice Hosting Help & Support Web Site
KevinW replied to Junior's topic in Latest Hosting News
Dabs, in response to having to keep multiple links to the various TCH sites, we tried with the new Help site to provide such reference links. On every page, we have given you quick links at the top to the Help Desk, theis Discussion forum and to the TCH main web site. In all cases, the links will open up in a new browser window. Hopefully that will help. But agreed, more work to do, and so little time to do it in! -kw -
you are correct, shammer, IE does have a separate option for enabling/disabling passive fTP. I should have checked first. Must be getting old! -kw

Curtis, FWIW ... I had cgiemail implemented for one of my customers who was on Bell South, When I moved them over to TCH, the cgiemail did work excpet for the fact that if a visitor did not fill in a "required" field, the script would error instead of displaying a screen that would tell the visitor that a required field was not entered, and identify the field in question. Never did get a resolution to the problem. -kw

Unless I'm mistaken, enabling/disabling folder view in IE *is* how you turn on or off passive FTP -kw

Let me know when you're in Florida and I'll have it ready the ice cream and hot fudge ready! -kw

good, this information is being included in our upcoming help/support site -kw

You guys are wierd (in a nice way). I've had the same one email address since 1996. However, I do setup an email account for myself at each of my customer's internal servers or web servers, but that's only for testing purposes when I am there. -kw

if all else fails, fix yourself a bowl of ice cream with hot fudge and relax --- after all, it's only a computer!

I was hoping someone would "catch" the humor in my "Catch-22" response! -kw

Jacob, FWIW, several TCH users have downloaded and installed the Invision board software, which is also used for this forum. http://www.invisionboard.com/ -kw

if you are renaming your customer error files, you may need to check or edit your .htaccess file. For more information, see: http://evolt.org/article/A_Cheesy_htaccess...226/evolt.org#d -kw
