  1. For sometime now, I have relied on Lavasoft's free Adaware program for cleaning up my customer's computers from those nasty spyware programs that can infect a system (like Gator, etc.). They just released version 6 that does away with needing the separate RefUpdate utility. Official Lavasoft Support Forums : http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/ BTW, if you already are using Adaware version 5.x, you should uninstall it first. Unfortunately it does NOT show up in the Add/Remove program. Simply go to your C:\Program Files directory, locate Lavasoft, and run the unwise.exe program there. -kw
  2. bump???? -kw
  3. Ok. Ok. Stop twisting my arm! I'm off to explore the cPanel Backup functions now :-) kw
  4. Li had an even easier solution than me - darn! Obviously, I don't do a lot of transfers myself. Wow, built into cpanel? Can't beat that, can you?? -kw
  5. Sorry no one had posted a reply to your query. IMO, why tie up Internet bandwidth by including the actual PDF file in your email you send out? Instead, consider simply uploading your pdf file to your web site, and then supply the appropriate http: link to your PDF file within your email. For example, here is a link to a PDF file I created for setting up Outlook Express: http://tch.kwsupport.com/HTMLobj-184/OE_Setup.pdf HTH, kw
  6. derrick- Trellix Web is a great, simple program for building a web site. But the free versions were restricted to only publishing to certain web providers. Chances are, that's what you have. If so, you will want to upgrade to CuteSITE Builder (which is Trellix Web renamed). check out the discussion board at www.cuteditebuilder.com/cutesitebuilder or my web site at http://www.kwsupport.com/csb for more help! -kw
  7. dishman, consider building your own front end to horde for your users to use. check out an example on my web site at: http://tch.kwsupport.com/id35.htm -kw
  8. First thing that needs to be determined is which message board are you using on your old site? is it one that you installed, or one that came with your web provider. If it was provided by your web provider and does not match what is offered at tCH, then we have to investigate further. However, if it's one that you installed yourself, then it's a matter of using FTP to download your entire forum subdirectory from your old site to your PC, and then turn around and use FTP to upload the entire subdirectory from your PC to the appropriate place on your TCH web site. It may also be important to make sure with your FTP utility that you download all appropriate hidden files. You may also want to contact the developer of your discussion board software to see if they have a recommended method for transfering the board from one web site ot another. -kw
  9. check out http://tch.kwsupport.com/id17.htm -kw
  10. Is the phpsecureweb directory password protected? or the files in it? In order to have someone take a look at it, you will need to go over to the secured TCH Help Desk and enter a ticket. When you do, be sure to provide your user id and password so that someone can take a look at your files and setup. Good luck! kw
  11. The cPanel web documentation has an example of configuring a php job. Go to http://www.cpanel.net/docs/cp/ and then along the left side drill down - How do I use cPanel > Advanced Menu > Cron Jobs -kw
  12. I've had several customers purchase the Envision 17" flat screen (I think its model # 7100??) --- without even asking me! They all love it. -kw
  13. Wahoo! BTE, would you care to share, in summary, what it took to get you working? It might help someone else down the road in a similar situation. -kw
  14. Glad you are working .... thoise invalid passwords can be a bummer!!!! :-) kw

    USB problem

BTW, last week I bought one of those USB memory disks that can hang on a key chain -- 128MB of storage literally in my pocket at all times. I've tested it out on several different PC's -- works like a charm! No software to load -- plug it into the USB port, and voila, I have a new drive D: (or E; or whatever) -kw
  16. Lebleu, You can find out this information in a couple of ways: 1. Access your CPanel, and it gives you version numbers of various modules. 2. Alternately you could upload two different standard scripts (env.pl or phpinfo.php) that gives you a whole host of information. I happen to have zipped copies of both of these scripts on my web site available for downloading. Go to: http://tch.kwsupport.com/id58.htm HTH, Kw

    files???

Go for it, then. Golly, I have a lot of files (mostly sample scripts) available on my web sites here at TCH. By your original question, wasn't sure if the issue or concern was (a) bandwidth or ( legal aspects. Granted, if you signup for any web site with any web provider, you are ultimately responsible for tracking and managing your bandwidth. If you start to approach your limit, you should contact tCH to step up to the next level. Frankly, TCH's specs are quite liberal, and you should bew good to go. On a legal side, that's up to you and the vendor whose files you are providing, but in general you should be OK. -kw
  18. 'Write all' would be either: chmod 666 or chmod 777 'Write user only' would be 755 Is that what you wanted to know? -kw
  19. I notice that sometimes when I click on the 'View New Posts' option in the top right corner of these discussion forums, sometime I will get the following error message: I believe it only occurs after I have read all existing new posts. Just curious if it's just me or something else? -kw
  20. Is your domain name fully propogated, or are you trying to publish using your IP address? -kw
  21. sodbayar, another user indicated that rather than using 777 for your permission for your phpnuke directory, you might try 755 - as some servers don't like/support 777 permission. another thought is to check some out some of the phpnuke support sites and documentation. Here's a link of various phpnuke web sites with documentation: http://phpnuke.org/modules.php?name=News&new_topic=10 And here's one that I looked at specifically: http://www.karakas-online.de/EN-Book/insta...tml#PERMISSIONS Good luck! kw
  22. Interesting. Thanks for the followup. -kw
  23. Lebleu - if you changed permissions to your public_html drive, suggest you drop in a help ticket immediately and have on of the TCH techs look at your site. Be sure to include your userisd and password to your web site acocunt so they can properly access it. Good luck! -kw
  24. We have many people who have signed up for a reseller acocunt, and we even have a specific password protected sub forum dedicated to resellers. Essentially, you become your own little web provider - and can set up packages and pricing (5mb, 50mb, 5 emails, unlimited emails, etc) that you can turn around and promote on your own. Personally, I prefer to have my customers pay a year in advance for their web site, including a setup fee (for emails, passwords, etc). And if I am also creating their web site, as well, that's an additional fee for setup and then ongoing maintenance. HTH kw
  25. Lebleu -- Nicholas is right on -- you can use File Manager from inside CPanel to set or change file permissions. FWIW, did you know that TCH supplies phpbb via cPanel as a user forum? Also, many users are using Invision (which is what this discussion forum runs on), and that you can drop in a help disk requesting that Invision be installed. -kw
