  1. I like this one, the default one, if I could change the colors on it. I changed a couple once and I really messed it up, color wise. I got that quidditch one working but the purple on it was just too dark for my users and they are the ones I have to please. They are getting used to this one so it is no big deal. Jack
  2. That looks real close. Mine could stand to be maybe a shade lighter on the purple, so that the gold is more readable or maybe a brighter gold. It does look real good though. When you said black and gold it kind of scared me. Black and gold was our cross town rival back when I was in high school. There really isn't very much black there, not enough to bother me. Like I said all I would have to do would be to replace the current purple hex code with a lighter code. Thanks for thinking about that problem. I would ask one more thing of your and that would be to check with billing or sales and see if they got the emailabout upgrading my two sites to "silver" The sites are "jdcobbsr.com" and "cebyrdhigh.com" again thanks. Jack
  3. I do, in fact I just emailed the sales office to upgrade my two accounts from Starter to Silver. Yep you can pat yourself on the back.
  4. I guess you could call them directories. But it does allow you to setup your avatars by type such as I did, animation, regular avatars and sports. That is just the way I have mine broken apart. It really works good. Just took me 2 days to figure it out with help from all you people, which I really did appreciate. Now I am busy putting choices in there for my users. I guess you kind of figured out what my forum is used for. It is for my old high school that I graduated from over 50 years ago. So far the ones who have signed up seem to like it. Another one of those, it will take time to be sure of its acceptance. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the school colors in there, which ar light purple and gold. Again that will take time, but being retired I have plenty of that. Oh just for some extra info on me. I have worked with computers, operating and programming since 1956, with the internet since its conception and before that true bulletin board systems when access to them on the phone was 300 BAUD. I have also installed Novell networks, so I have had my share of experience. I learned real early in the computer business that you can't get comfortable because it change every minute. The other and most important thing I learned in don't be stupid and not ask questions, because there is always someone out there who knows more than you do. Enough rambling on and again my deepest thanks for all the help. Jack
  5. Well I now have my avatars working. Figured out the problem. Here is the way I finally set them up. /forum/images/avatars/gallery/ at this point I actually had to setup my gallaries which are animated, ava, and sports. Then when you goto the avatar section of editing the user profile it has all the ways to load your avatar listed and when you click on the gallery selectiion it then brings up in a selection box the individual galleries and you select which gallery you wnat to select your avatar from and gives a thumbnail picture with any animation if it is animated. You select the one you want and then click on save, it then shows the one you selected and you go from there. I really appreciate everyones help. Jack
  6. Sully I found some and downloaded them to my computer under a folder named avatar/gallery . I then loaded them to my BB under forum/images/avatars/gallery. I had already checked yes to the avatar questions on the config. It will not recognize them and does not give a file size or whatever. What have I done wrong? Is there a special way to download them from the internet? Thanks my BB site is http://www.cebyrdhigh.com/forum
  7. Okay I have a folder called gallery loaded with avatars I downloaded from internet. That folder is within the folder avatars. so I ftp them over to my Bb in this order: public_html/forum/images/avatars/gallery Is this the correct order? Do I need to do anything to them prior to loading them and do I need to do anything after loading them? I have authorized the use of them on the config page. Any help will be appreciated. the board is located at http://www.cebyrdhigh.com/forum THanks
  8. Okay this will be my last question for awhile, or at least till the next one. Can I and where can I find a batch of Avatars to download into my avatar gallery? Thanks Jack
  9. I was born and raised in Shreveport and now am retired in the Hill Country of Texas outside San Antonio. I still have family in Shreveport too, but most of them you have to stand above them to visit them, if you know what I mean. I am trying to develope a message or forum board for my old, old, '52 high school. Had one another place but like a lot of internet sites they had to shutdown, so I am incorporating this one as part of a site I own. Few problems, but hopefully will get past them. Jack
  10. I am looking for a theme using the colors purple and gold. Any help appreciated. To be installed on a phpbb board that is installed on a TCH site. Thanks
  11. I did as you suggested plus had to delete the original default theme, go to users maint and change the theme there. Now it works fine. Thanks a lot. The only thing I don't like about it and did not realize till now is that it does not show the title and description of my board. Title: C.E. BYRD HIGH SCHOOL of SHREVEPORT, LA Description line: A forum for past, present and future students of Byrd High School. Went back to Veleor's site and the demo does not show that either, so my fault. I will have to continue searching for a theme with the colors of purple and gold. Till I find what I want then I will use the "QUIDDITCH" one. Any suggestions as to where I could look. Again thanks a lot for all the help. Jack
  12. I have a couple of parts to this.. I have downloaded a style or theme, Quidditch, from the internet, supposed to be okay for "phpbb". After downloading it I then unzipped it to its own folder, I then used my FTP, cuteFTP, to upload it to the "public_hmtl/my forum directory/templates. So far all is good, as far as I can tell. I then access my BB admin panel, click the install on the new style, which seems to work fine, no error messages. Then I go to the maint edit and click on editing the new style. When I then look at the edit screen for "Quidditch" only a couple of the lines have any hexidecimal color coding on them, whereas the default style has all but 2 or 3 lines coded. What have I done wrong? Did I leave out a step? Next part of this. If I do, by some miricle, get the new theme working and want to replace the default, ugly one, with it, will I lose all the postings I have on the BB so far? That's it. Thanks Jack
  13. The problem seems to be fixed. Thanks
  14. I have set the time on my board to be GMT -6 hours for CST. It worked fine for awhile, but no it is showing regular GMT. Why? the configuration page still shows GMT -6, but on the forum page it shows it is using GMT but no -6 is showing along side it. I have reloaded the config page to no avail. How can I fix the problem? The more I use this board software the less I am impressed by it. Thanks for any help.
  15. What details do you need. The style name is QUIDDITCH. It was a zipped file which I have unzipped into its own folder. I downloaded it directly from phpBB to my computer. Jack
