How Will I Know When My Domain Has Been Set Up?
TCH-Don replied to biff's topic in Pre-Sales Questions
In looking at your whois, your DNS is not set to point to totalchoicehosting you should have received an e-mail when you registered your domain showing how to log into you domain name control page where you can change the DNS to ns1.totalchoicehosting.com - 64.246.50.105 ns2.totalchoicehosting.com - 65.254.32.122 Once you have done this, its justa matter of time for all the ISP nameservers to update and you are set. -
Welcome to the forums Alan You should be able to create the database in cpanel > MySql and create the user and then add user to the database. then in PhpMyAdmin (located at the bottom of the MySql page) you can import your database. Also in cpanel > backup there is a place to download and restore backups of your databases. As Thomas said, there are plenty of family here to help. Hope to see you here soon.

Try a single word all lower case for the folder name or you can use - or _ in the folder name but no spaces just enter the folder name it will be installed below your domain like domain/nuke if it still will not install, open a help ticket to support and tell them what you tried.

Glad to see you have it working, www part may have taken a little longer because of propagation. Let us know if you need any help.

How Will I Know When My Domain Has Been Set Up?
TCH-Don replied to biff's topic in Pre-Sales Questions
Biff, if there is something wrong with your account, you need to open a ticket, as the moderators here have no access to accounts. Once it is straightened out, there is a link in your welcome e-mail to get to your cpanel scroll down to the area ========================================== Control Panel ========================================== and you will see two links. one for http://www.yourdomain.net/cpanel and one for the ip address before propagation. http://209.152.171.64/cpanel (the numbers will be different and are the ip of your web server. in your case the domain is going to be different than you welcome e-mail as you changed it, but you get the idea on how to get to your cpanel now. At the bottom of your cpanel there is a link to the documentation for cpanel. Let us know if you need help figuring it out. -
You did not say who you purchased your domain name through, so look here dns tutorials and see if your domain registar is listed, if not try one as it is about the same for all of them.

Do I Need A New Site Or Subdomain?
TCH-Don replied to shelwriter's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
For normal accounts the addon domain is disabled in cpanel, you need a reseller acount to use addon domains. For normal accounts you may not have a second domain point to file, folder or subdomain. You can have the techs park a second domain on top of your main domain so it will resolve to your main domain. -
It can take up to 72 hours after you have pointed your domain name to the TCH namservers at your domain registar.

Hi Biff keeping in mind that ordering hosting space and registering a domain name are seperate. When you signed up for hosting, and your payment has gone through, you should get a welcome e-mail within a few hours after payment verification. Please open a help ticket, see link at top of page. Use the user and password that you used when you ordered hosting space. And give them all the details that you submitted for your order, and they will get you sorted out. -
Welcome to the Family xaq and your new home! Somethings do not work til after progation because of the paths in the forum will point to your domain/folder. So if this is a new install of your forum, it might be better to wait til after you change your DNS to point to the nameservers given to you in your welcome e-mail, and the site propagates to Totalchoice. We really are like family here. So if you need anything, just ask your new family! We love to help

If you leave the last backup on your space, it will be part of the next backup. I do not bother with the full backup, as I can't upload it myself So I just download the home backup which you can upload in the same place. The home backup has everything, incluuding your e-mail, except databases and e-mail filters and alias which you can also download and upload in cpanel > backup..

It is on the totalchoicehosting help site

Welcome to the forums zhiyang You can keep your domain with your current registar if you wish, just point it to the DNS in your welcome e-mail. Hope to see you around soon.

Wish I could help, but I do not use FP In looking at your form above, I see the e-mail address is there for spambots to harvest. Have you thought about trying a php form that hides your address. One I see recommended a lot and its small and easy to use. Dodosmail

I would not put a lot of faith in sites like this, As pointed out, popular sites did not fair well when tested. Its hard to automate evaluating a site for so many things. Thats why SEO people are worth so much.

I looked at mailman, and that was about it, so I can't help you there. I went with Dada Mail It seems to be easier to install and use.

WOW, it took over an hour in line for a very small comunity. Never had to wait that long, so its a good sign.
