I was wondering why you all switched to TCH?

I have been wanting to ask that for awhile, but wasn't sure if it was a safe

question?

Because of their reliability: absolutely the best prices with, most of all, the best customer assistance l ever found!

And l already found them two other customers, happy and crazy for TCH!

I switched because of my last two hosts.

One was cheap but very slow and went down at 3am every morning (my prime time!)

the other was very expensive (25/month) and had a custom control panel and wouldn't install any modules or work with people on anything. They also ran php as cgi and so couldn't do custom 404s for php pages. The final insult was them wanting to charge me $750 to install phpmyadmin (which I then realized how easy it is to install..)

I went searching and after chatting with Aromal in live chat, bought my new package. =)

I have been with many different hosting companies over the years. Most of them were either expensive and/or didn't have much to offer. I switched to TCH because of their great customer service, advantages, as well as the price. Rock Sign

I used to have my shareware site hosted free under our company hosting plan. Then they sold the hosting to another company that said no more freebies, so I ventured out looking for a reliable inexpensive host and found TCH.

After five months of reliable service I convinced the owner of our company to let me move the company website over. Of course the $25/month savings didn't hinder his decision. Plus the fact that when the new ownership of the hosting company caused us to be down for a week while they moved the servers and got everything reconfigured. The last straw was the lack of communication and the one crash that took us offline for another 3 days.

I was looking for a new host because I wanted more bandwidth. My old host only had one package, or a weird lifetime deal I didn't want. There were some ...rather odd occurrences... that looked on the shady side, so there was no chance of me upgrading or changing servers. I just decided to get out. For the time I was there, it was OK for my needs. Little downtime, relatively fast. The server was probably fast because there were few sites on it. After a while I realized most had no traffic (now I've realized why). My site was had the biggest logs (yes, it was unsecure, so I could see that) for a very long time. Then suddenly the machine started filling up again, even with sites having bigger logs. Very weird, considering she was a few years old by then....

Anyway, I'm glad I'm here, because I had tried another host with the intent of moving my biggest site over later - and it didn't work out well enough. With TCH it did work out, and my biggest problem with any cpanel host - reliable raw logs, got solved by one of the techs. A brilliant solution, that I will probably be very happy with. Like I said before, ping is very good here, and seems consistently better even when other hosts have dropped speed.

I started looking for a new host a few months ago when my old, expensive host started imposing limits on email accounts, number of MySQL databases, and other things that had always been unlimited. The last straw came when the site started experiencing down time every day and several tech issues remained unsolved for over 2 weeks. Mad!!!

I had been following Lisa around on a few blogging forums because of all the good information she gives out and so I just followed her here, too. As soon as I saw the great prices and awesome service here, there was no more choice. I had to move to TCH and it's the best move I've ever made. Thanks Lisa! Thumbs Up

My other host was so incompetent that I finally got an email from the tech department a week AFTER I closed my account with them telling me that my tech issues had been fixed. I laughed while emailing them back to tell them "thanks, but I closed my account with you guys a week ago. There's nothing there to fix." :goof:

I am happy to say that this is the first non-free host I ever signed up with. I was going to go with Pro Hosting, but after they lost my free account site two days after uploading it and couldn't even get me signed in anymore, I said forget it - I'm not giving them my money if I mean so little to them. They never even had the courtesy to return my e-mails.

Someone I game with recommended TCH as she was moving our guild message boards here, and after reading most every page of TCH's site and browsing the forums, I knew this was going to be a good place. :) No regrets at all!

My old host was (and still is) expensive. I paid about $20 a month for a plan that's more restrictive than any of TCH's. I put up with it because I was skeptical of cheaper hosts, but eventually the service from my old host became sufficiently bad that I had nothing to lose.

They had rolled out new site management tools for new customers only, and stuck existing clients with resources that were outdated and, in some cases, outright broken. They repeatedly made promises to transition old accounts to the new system "soon" but never delivered.

I started looking at other hosts and decided to try TCH after visiting these forums. I really liked the atmosphere. That was about 9 months ago. I don't make many posts here but I'm a very happy TCH customer. :)

I was working for a registrar that sold hosting accounts as well. I had a free account with them but was informed of TCH by a customer. The hosting account I was getting free couldn't compare with the account here at TCH and at $4 a month it was almost free, I mean come on thats a six dollar burger at Carl's Jr.

So unless Bill starts dancing around in his underwear again I think I will be here as long as here is here.

Thanks everyone, I really enjoyed reading all of your posts.

Very interesting thoughts and ideas of what made you switch.

I will respond more to you all tomorrow!

I esp enjoyed reading about all the referrals that TCH has. I think that is the heart

of any business!

I think we can all learn alot about how to run our own situations and how to treat others by the way things go around here eh?

I was simply one of those freebies before Don (Turtle) recommended TCH.

I spent my time on tripod with all what it means with ads and stuff.

Don recommended this and i have never regreted it.

I joined the TCH group after getting to the point were the free sites just wernt cutting it. Found TCH after a small amount of searching, liked the price and what I got. All the support has been good and if there was ever a problem it was handled vary quick.

Now I have 2 sites on TCH, got a friend hooked on TCH and I always tell people about TCH. :) Also at this time I cant thing of any reason for ever changeing host, or not keeping my sites up here. Rock Sign

Those free sites are just gettng nasty now aren't they?

Banners, Ads, and all kinds of propoganda all over peoples sites! Awful!

You know, I look at some of these people with horse sites on Tripod - they have high powered stallions - etc - and what are they doing on a Free site?

LOL!

I switched here because my previous host didn't have multiple database abilities... That, and my friend suggested to move here.

Kinda funny. If I haden't needed two databases, I might not have ever come around!

Short answer: Head Guru, Bill.

I was with a lousy host that went down for 2 days and was in other forums denying it. The nerve! Anyway, I went to FindMyHosting.com and put in what I wanted - reseller, php, awesome uptime, etc. When the results came up I went through each of them. It went something like this:

Ugly

Duh

No way

Spammer heaven

Yuck!

Hmmm.

When I got to Hmmm I checked the reviews on it. There were a couple hundred and I read through every one of them. They were all very good except a handful. Those bad ones went something like

"Waaah I was kicked off and I didn't do anything!" and the reply from this guy was

Let me see if I understand you correct. You host a illegal site on our servers that sells counterfit ID cards and we are the bad guys? Perhaps we should just let you sell fraudulent, illegal and counterfit ID Cards such as - School ID Cards, State  ID and State Drivers Licenses, Press Pass Kits, Social Security Cards and so on. With the terror threat level in our country at such a high rate, how dare you host that kind of site on any US Based servers! I think our track record speaks very clear. If you host illegal content on our servers your site will be terminated. Maybe you should consider getting service from a dishonest company, as the owner of this company I refuse to host a trash web site as yours. Your entire site sits on a backup tape waiting for your email to our abuse deparment.

I knew I loved this guy and when I found out he was the owner I was sold! Anyone who has scruples and stands by them has to be pretty good and with the cost, reliability, customer service and, very importantly, the family I signed up right then. I only wish I had gotten the 1 year for the cost of 11 months deal!

For me, that's the uptime and the service.

Ok, I'm new then I cannot speak much :D :D but I made my choice after reading lots of review and getting advices from friends on WHT.

We will see if I still agree with that in 1 year, but if I still agree with that in one year, I will have a reseller or a dedicated server... :)

Ludo

P.S.: The first feedbacks about the hosting are good :) I mean the few members on my "new born" forum agree to say that it's faster than before :D :D http://mythtvtalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?...2e6a5f34c4db477

Unlike most other replies I was quite happy with my previous host, I just decided I wanted more space and that it would be foolish not to look around.

The thing that really swung it for me was reading a post here on the TCH forums about the ownership of the intellectual property after a customer doesn't pay their bill. A potential customer felt that TCH's rules were a little unfair and Bill changed them!

As far as I can see Bill really believes "The Customer is King". I wish he would branch out into other services I would buy/use everything he did (If I needed it).
