  1. What happened to the little arrows at the bottom of each post that took you back to the the top of the page? I used those all the time to get to the "View New Posts" link. I like some of the new smileys (although some seem a bit hyperactive and I'd love to be able to stop the animation... especially early in the morning!) but I'm starting to notice other features missing from the old forum... I'm not so sure I like the change. What does everyone else think? EDIT: Never mind! I found the top arrow. Duh!
  2. Would a nice group hug help?
  3. Another thing you might consider is simply having other writers submit work to you which you would, in turn, upload to a page (or pages) on your site set aside for that purpose. That way you would have control of what get's posted and could keep inappropriate material off your site. You could run it kind of like a creative writing magazine with you as editor.
  4. By the way.... I like the bookmark better than a link from my site because with the bookmark I can get to it from any site I happen to be on. Most of the time I'm on this forum site so a link from my own site would be an extra step. So long as my browser is open I can go straight to Horde using the bookmark (or favorites as they're called in IE). Straight to Horde... hmmmmmmm, sounds like somewhere more than a few people would like to send me!
  5. I use both IE and Netscape 7.0. It works in both for me. As I said above I initially bookmarked my Horde Inbox... this is the URL that pops up when I click on the bookmark so I figured 25PSi could create a direct link from it. Thanks... where was I again?
  6. Try a link like this: http://******:2082/horde/index.php
  7. Log in, choose Horde, go to your Inbox and then bookmark it or add it to your favorites. It will come up with the log-in dialog box all filled in and all you have to do is click it each time. Works for me.
  8. These things happen sometimes... seems like no one knows why, they just do every so often. Submit a ticket (click on helpdesk link above) and they'll take care of it for you!
  9. When they arrive in your Inbox, either as forwards or downloads, don't forget to then move them to your Sent Mail folder... I forgot that step once and weeks later went searching for an email I sent in my Sent Mail folder and it wasn't there. Drove me crazy till I found it in my Inbox (well, I might have been a little bit crazy already, but it drove me more crazy)!
  10. Make sure you are using the word "Madonna" in your titles, meta-tags, keywords, and especially in the text on the page. But also make sure it makes sense for you to use it in the text. Just putting it there randomly or repeating it over and over without context will get you penalized. Also, get as many related sites as possible to link to you... this will help your rating.
  11. Pretty slick!
  12. Hi Diana... I've had awstats not update for me a couple of times. I submitted a ticket to the help desk and they took care of it right away. Click on the Help Desk link at the top of this page. We don't have the Update Now feature here... I think it puts too big a load on the servers because there are so many accounts. Re outgoing mail.... check to see that you ISP has not blocked Port 26. I use my ISP to send and mail.**** for incoming mail. You can also change your outgoing mail port to 25 in case 26 is blocked (I may have those numbers reversed...). Hope this helps... VI
  13. Yeah Thomas, that's what I thought you meant. Thanks, Bob... I'll check out those posts, sites, and programs. I'm sure they'll bring me much peace of mind.
  14. Thanks. I've got SP2 and a firewall. I guess I need to run NAV more often and not depend on it just detecting stuff as it comes in (at least that's what I understand Thomas to be saying). I did change the default settings in Norton back when I installed it... to deny access to infected files or delete emails rather than to repair and quarantine. What spyware and adware programs do you recommend Madman? Any thoughts on why I got pounded so hard yesterday, or do you think it was just coincidence?
  15. Make that four. What could be happening? Got this email from NAV: Norton AntiVirus deleted the following email message because it was infected with a virus: From: To: Subject: Nothing in my deleted items folder.
  16. NAV deleted 3 viruses today... that's really a lot for me. I haven't received any for at least a couple of months. These are kind of strange though because only one seemed to come from an email which NAV deleted... the other two were notification pop-ups saying that a virus was found on my computer and access was denied. But there was no deleted email. What's that all about? I just ran a full scan and nothing else was found. Since NAV scans everything as it comes in, is it necessary to run these scans anyway? And since today it found viruses on my computer that were not from emails, does that mean it's performing it's own scans and I needn't go into the program and tell it to scan?
  17. I wouldn't rule out the back button... many people will click it to get back to their search results so if they get from Google to your redirect page and then to your index page, they would go back through your redirect to get back to Google. I do it all the time...
  18. I'd like to know too.... a group I belong to has a Plone Powered site with one of the worst forums I've ever had the displeasure to use. I suggested that they switch to InvisionBoard... I guess because I'm familiar with it. But it would be interesting to hear the pros and cons of other software, especially from people whose opinions I respect.
  19. Why can't you do both? Have a page that simply tells if the server is up or down, with a link to another page with more information. Just a thought...
  20. I think the holidays bring the spammers out in full force. Especially those selling fake rolex watches. Bah. Humbug.
  21. Go right ahead... I look forward to hearing from you by PM.
  22. yeah... I think it's an ACDSee problem too. Weird though because it only seems to happen with jpegs that are attached to forwarded emails and not with jpegs that are attached to original emails. At least as far as I can tell. And it only started happening recently... perhaps due to some Windows update? The other weird thing is that even though I can't open the saved files with ACDSee, if I open the ACDSee program itself and browse to that folder, the files are there and I can use ACDSee to view them, resize them, print them or anything else. In other words, ACDSee won't open when I click on a file in a folder (or in a forwarded email), but if it's already open, I can access that same file with it. Strange, huh? I did change my default viewer for jpegs to Windows picture viewer.... it's not nearly as convenient... I suppose I'll get used to it. Question: I changed my default viewer in Windows (Control Panel > Folder Options> File Types), is there a way to just change the viewer in OE like Madman suggested? I haven't been able to find it, but I'd sure like to leave ACDSee as my default viewer in everything except OE.
  23. You should definitely submit a ticket to the Help Desk by clicking on the Help Desk link above. They fixed it for me when mine didn't update for a couple of days.
