But you don't learn anything for yourself that way. That's half of the fun! The information is not really that hard to find. It's what you do with the information once you find it. Here is a good place to start. The key is to start off small and take "baby steps", setting small goals for yourself along the way. Remember...the best coders all started this way. (Even TCH-David! ) You also have a whole family here that would be willing to assist you with things you don't understand. Just post a message. You might want to even invest in a "test" domain (look at TCH's Starter Plan) that will give you a web site to set stuff up on, play with, and learn. If you don't want to invest the money, check out XAMPP. You can run an entire website on your computer's hard drive or even on a USB memory stick. So take the baby steps, read, experiment, and before you know it, you'll gain a LOT of knowledge in the world of php and databases. You have to learn to crawl before you can run marathons! Stick with it!

Well, they can have it. Even though I'm originally from the Chicagoland area, I've been in warm climates too long to even THINK about going back! (Of course it has been said that money talks! )

Some ISP's (if they're nice) forward email for a specific period of time if you cancel. (The one I used to work for a few years ago did mail forwarding for 90 days.) You'd have to ask them specifically. What you suggested (above) is what I would recommend that you do. If your email is that important coming from the ISP you are dumping, a period of 1-2 months should be sufficient to notify everyone that you have a new email address.

This past week I was working on some projects in Mississippi and drove through some of the areas affected by Katrina. Even after driving through all the areas in Florida that were hit last year, I was shocked at the devastation. Not the amount of it, but the coverage area...it's huge! I saw parts of peoples homes in the median of the interstate STILL. I'm just waiting on the call to head down to south florida (key west airport) to rebuild the two sites I helped to install a couple of years ago. Samrc: Doesn't he realize how much snow they get up there?

Welcome to the forums anantha. Since nobody can please all people all of the time, TCH has to have a common ground for the majority of its customers. The same thing applies here as to why TCH doesn't automatically upgrade versions of PHP for example. While a minor upgrade may help only a few users, it may cause a major problem for the thousands of other TCH customers. Be assured that if Ruby was ever to be installed, it would be well publicized well in advance here in the forums.
