Another good one. I set up an email account on BellSouth for my son last week. He just arrived home today. We opened up his email (using Thunderbird of course!) and he had 38 email messages...all spam!

That would depend upon how valuable your data is. My personal opinion is to always make a weekly backup. Of course, I'm speaking from experience on this! (Long story.) Using CPanel, you can make a backup of your data and FTP it to your computer if you desire. That way, if the rare and unthinkable server hard drive crash happens, you've got your own backup that the TCH techs can use to restore your site. As Rob pointed out, I misread your post. (It was towards the end of a long and busy day!) Your organization of your site should be fine! If your old host is using CPanel, you could also drop a help desk ticket (link above) to the techs and they can do a CPanel to CPanel transfer for you. I'll have to defer this question to someone who is more knowledgable in using FP. Gotta love Rob!

Welcome to the forums. As Rob stated, versions prior to FP2002 (I think) do not allow you to publish to a name. If you just tranferred your info to TCH, I'd wait a little bit longer and see what happens. In the meantime, make sure your settings in FP are all correct. [sidenote] While FP is a good program to get websites going quickly, I think you'll find that you will have an easier time if you migrated away. I started out using FP98, then went to 2000. Once my curiousity got the better of me, I started dabbling in writing my own HTML. Now I use an application that writes straight HTML without all of the Microsoft-added stuff. You can find several of these programs for free on the web. [/sidenote] I hope you made a backup of your data before deleting anything and starting the transfer to TCH. And lastly, as an added level of security, I'd make sure that you do not have any folders with 777 permissions. Again, welcome to the forums and family!

Your concern is correct...it's not a good idea! I would suggest to drop a note to the help desk and have them change the folders that are set to 777 to 775 and have the ownership changed to 'nobody'. (I remember seeing that elsewhere in the forums but couldn't find it at the moment!) I've done that on several folders of one of my sites as, like you, I just couldn't live with a folder being wide open like that!

Well, it's a little hard to pinpoint, given the info you've provided. If you're talking about a blog or forum program, you need to check the info that Bruce provided. I would also check in MySQL (found in CPanel) to make sure that you have created the user and added the user to the database for the blog or forum program. If all else fails, simply drop a ticket to the help desk (link above) fully explaining the problem, and they'll hook you right up.
