  1. I've been a user of FileZilla for years, and it's great.

  3. Happy New Year! You can find pictures of what Sarah and I did on New Year's Day on our forums (I'll give you a hint: some call it the "big ditch").
  4. Excuse
  5. Welcome to the forums!
  6. Welcome Richard!
  7. Speaking of Hot Sauce, weren't you supposed to send me some?
  8. Welcome to the forums cataragon!
  9. Welcome to the forums, MBScott!

  11. I hear ya Steve...
  12. A big congratulations to the Texas Longhorns for winning the 2005 National Championship! USC played a good game, but in the end Texas fought hard enough to bring home the win. While I'm not a Texas fan, I'm certainly not a USC fan either (though I'd much rather see a Big 12 team win the championship, coming from the heart of Big 12 country). Congratulations champs!
  13. You raise a very valid point that I did not think about prior to your mentioning it. A user-space Squirrelmail install may not be completely secure. I'll have to do some tinkering.
  14. Welcome, freakbynight!
  15. I'll be out of debt in a few months. Amazing how quickly you can get into it, but how long it takes you to get out. At any rate, I'm hoping to be out just before my wedding on May 28th. As for Rob... your neighbors have sheep? You must live in a much more interesting neighborhood than I...
  16. Thanks Bruce. I think I'm the reason why you had to post that security tip lol. Many thanks to Bill and staff for helping me fix my hacked forums.
  17. Not only would I recommend checking that "Windows Firewall" is either turned off, or allows connections for file and print sharing, but I would also right-click the folder that you want shared over the network, and click "Sharing and Security", and make sure that "Allow network users to change my files" is checked. Also, if you do a self-managed DNS like I do (i.e. editing the hosts file on each system and manually inputting hostnames and IP's), make sure all that is set up properly.
  18. Jayson, if you're attempting to integrate SMF with phpnuke, that may be what is causing you problems. Have you tried just a plain install of SMF, not integrating with phpnuke? If so, I apologise. I remember seeing on the SMF forums an article about integrating with CMS', perhaps you could have a look at that and see if there's anything there that you missed. Personally, I don't use a CMS so I can't be of much help to you there.
  19. Santa can pay my bills as well. I've spent thousands on others but I haven't gotten myself anything for Christmas. Maybe I'll buy more stocks. Did pretty well for me last year. Which reminds me, I need to go complete my new 401(k) packet (the company I work for was recently bought out, so now we have to re-do all that stuff... joy). Later!
  20. I used to be a telemarketer. Talk about a depressing job, I don't even hear no that much at a bar lol. Needless to say I didn't last long because my numbers weren't strong. But they definately annoy me too. If they were actually calling about something I was interested in, I'd have no problem (Omaha Steaks may call me at any time ) however anyone else I'm usually not interested in anything they have to offer. Just my $0.02
  21. If you grow beyond a 4 port router (I can't be the only one...), switches are also available. I would recommend a router to start with as usually they double as a hardware firewall of sorts, which adds an extra layer of protection to your home network.
  22. Welcome to the forums archiveman!

  24. As far as the email situation and spam harvesters go, one solution is to select in the options "Hide email addresses from guests"... So until spam harvesters create a user account on your forums (and I assume you have some sort of authentication in place when it comes to registering) you should be alright. Personally that minor defect is not enough to keep me away. Beats the heck out of phpBB.
  25. I wouldn't recommend using the cpanel version anyways, as it is usually a bit behind the mainstream release.
