Thanks Bruce -
A CMS is definitely a good thing for a purpose like Steve is describing. Anything "community" oriented is a great candidate for a CMS (or even a forum).

While I can't elude too much to CMS', I can say that Cpanel is not a CMS, but a control panel (hence the name). As for PHP vs Perl, I can't answer that either as I don't program in either (though I am considering picking up PHP just for web purposes).

I made the announcement about the beta release earlier in the month, but now I'm here to announce the arrival of SeaMonkey 1.0! While it is branded 1.0, let's all remember that it would have been 1.8; before some people gave it an early and undeserved death sentence. Some new features include: SVG vector graphics support (without plug-ins) "tab re-ordering": tabs can be rearranged by drag and drop "Autoscroll" support - middle clicking on empty space allows scrolling by moving the mouse Can set the e-mail client to use a single "Inbox" folder "Roaming Profiles": store your complete user profile in a remote server (FTP, LAN share, etc) Auto save draft messages in the e-mail client Caching improved. Hitting the "Back" button shows previous pages much faster See and retrieve original (source) URLs from the download manager's list of previously downloaded files Also a speed difference between SeaMonkey and the latest FF. I remember using Mozilla (now SeaMonkey) back when it was M17 (1999?). It's come a long way since then, and it's good to see the full suite is still around. For those who are curious - I'm still an Opera man, but I fire up the suite every now and then

Mission, you simply PM anyone that's a staff member (their user name at the bottom of the forum should be red) and they can pass that password along to you.

It would almost be easier to use the "create dump file" option, gzip that (using 7zip or another zip program that does ".gz" extensions (not sure if Winzip does or not haven't used it in years)), and then in cpanel you can restore a mysql db in the "backup" section, just select the gzip file you created and click upload.

Doesn't TCH have dedicated Windows boxes available? I know that may not help you Marcel but I'm kind-of curious as I thought I remember seeing that announcement.

A while back I audited the directory tree of my account and changed everything that was chmod 777 to 755 or lower. So I hit a bit of a snag which required me to manually upload the files in the /Sources directory, but other than that no big deal.

For all of you out there running SMF 1.0.5, an update to 1.0.6 has been made available. SMF can easily be updated from the Admin panel, so it should be fairly straight-forward.

Have you tried pinging and running a trace route on your domain to see if maybe there's a "missing link"?
-
Yes, working perfectly.
-
I too have an account on S82, and when I did the same thing you did my domain was not found either. You may wish to open a ticket to the help desk (link at the top) and ask them about it. I can tell you that my account is working.

The thread Rob links to is exactly what you need.

Welcome to the forums and family David! Be sure to let us know if you have any further questions as we really are a helpful bunch (if you couldn't tell already).

Alright, I think I've figured where you're going and where you're at. Once in phpMyAdmin, select the database in the dropdown on the left you are attempting to change. Once you've done that some tabs will load across the top of the screen. Click the tab labeled Query. In the field labeled "SQL-query on database (your DB name here)", paste the command you listed above (be sure to replace yourusername with the user name you are attempting to edit) and click the button marked "Submit Query". Let us know if this fixes you up.

Congratulations on getting SMF installed. I know you'll find it enjoyable. I presently have 2 SMF installations out on the 'net, and I'm always looking for a reason to put up more.

I too use Opera. No problems here.

Well said Paul.
