  1. You can edit your config file for AWStats to set it to resolve IPS, add an update now link, etc. Go to this topic to find out more about it.
  2. I just added a can of HG Cola.
  3. Maybe this would meet the requirements of the contest.
  4. The file is not in that directory. I got a page not found error when I clicked on it so I tried listing the directory and got a list of files but not OFEETYPE2.gif. Check again and see where you uploaded it.
  5. Check out this topic for info on a calendar mod for phpBB. I did a search on the phpBB support forum and found the answer to changing the link on the logo. The borfast is right as to the code change needed. The problem I had was trying to find which file contained the code. From the phpBB forum I found that it is in a file in the /templates/subsilver directory called overall_header.tpl. It is an HTML file. You can go to the file manager in cPanel and edit it. Go down near the bottom of the file (it was line 231 in my html editor) and you will find the code that says: Change the "{U-INDEX}" to "http://www.******" to set the link. You can also change the logo_phpBB.gif filename to whatever file you want to use for a logo. I tested it on my site and it worked fine. Note that if you use a different theme than subsilver you will have to find the file in that directory.
  6. No php required. Right click on the current logo and note the name and location. The default is logo_phpBB.gif in the /templates/subSilver/images subdirectory off of your main forum directory. Upload a new graphic with that name (I renamed the old one so I could go back if needed). It will by default link back to the main board page. Not sure how to link back to your main website.
  7. It's working fine for me. When you log in do you have the "remember me" option checked? Have you cleared your cookies recently?
  8. The Advanced Guestbook does offer many more options. I use the Simple Guestbook on one of my pages and it works fine for keeping up with who is on the site. I tried the following on my site and it worked fine so you might try it. I'll check it tomorrow and see if it works for me when I view from work. To add a View Guestbook option you can try adding this html to your page. <a href="http://domainname.com/cgi-sys/guestbook.cgi?action=listguests&user=TCHUser">View Guest Book</a> Replace the bold type info with your info. The TCHUser is the user name you use to get to the cPanel. It may be that the password is saved in my cookies so I'm not sure it will work for others but won't hurt to try. Editted - I just had Lianna check it out and it worked so if you are satisfied with just having a link to view the guestbook it should work for you.
  9. Thanks... sometimes a hunch plays out. I had wondered how PostNuke and phpNuke differed so it was interesting to compare the installs.
  10. The only catch I found with the PostNuke install was getting the database set up correctly. I had to try several things before it worked correctly. You said you created the database Phoenix and added a user to it. Databases created here prepend the TCH user name so Phoenix would become TCHUser_Phoenix (where TCHUser is your user name on TCH.) Same goes for the username attached to the database. Then be sure you just tell the PostNuke installer to add tables not create database and add tables. Good luck with it.
  11. Go to http://www.invisionboard.com/?resources and get the converter to convert a phpBB to Invision.
  12. I just installed PostNuke earlier tonight. Be sure you only reset the permissions to 666 for the config.php and config-old.php files. The others should be fine.
  13. As far as I can see there are no pictures under the usernames in the Advanced Guestbook. Those are called avatars in this board (and others like it). As for the languages, there are a few included in the Advanced Guestbook install you can do from the cPanel (which is real easy to install). I found the homepage for the program at http://www.proxy2.de/scripts.php. You can download the file (Advanced Guestbook). It is a newer version but you can upload the lang directory to your install and get many more language modules. I don't know much (anything) about chinese but the spanish module works fine with the older version. There are a couple of chinese modules included as well. Worth a try. As for the other concern about users not wanting to register, you can set this board up to allow guests to leave messages without registering. The advantage of a board rather than the guestbook is that you can have different categories and organize things better. It also is follow different conversations. In a guestbook you would end up with lots of conversations mixed together. I like a guestbook so I can see who is using my site. I like the Bulletin Board to allow users to talk with each other.
  14. I noticed on her site that there was a list of newest submissions so I suspected that might be the source. I installed PostNuke on my site and found the exact message in the admin area. PostNuke is easier to install than phpNuke, by the way. Has a nice install module. Only catch is getting the mysql database and user set up first. I also got to try out Rayners method of uploading the tar.gz file and using cPanel to unzip. That really makes the upload quicker. Learn something new every day on here.
  15. The message is coming from your install of PostNuke. You apparently have the Submit News feature set up to notify you when someone submits a new article/story/news item etc. Go to the Submit News options in your admin module to turn it off if you don't want to receive the messages or edit the From field at the bottom to put in your own email address.
  16. There is an advanced guestbook that can be installed directly from the cPanel. Sounds like it would do what you want. There is also a simple guestbook but it is much more limited and is not directly visible to other users. In addition, as baseline mentioned you can install almost any php or perl guestbook that you want.
  17. Can't answer the other questions but I can answer #4. PhpBB is a bulletin board that is installable directly from the cPanel. You can go to http://www.phpbb.com to see more about it Invision Board is pretty easy to install and you can see a sample, it's what this forum runs. I installed it on my site and it went smoothly. Their website is http://www.invisionboard.com/.
  18. I run Gallery on my site and it works fine. I will say that it wasn;t the easiest script I've installed. I'm not sure if it's because I was installing late at night or what but it took me a while to get everything working correctly. I rebuilt it later and all went well. It is a great program.
  19. Did you load the nuke.sql file into your database via phpMyAdmin? If not, that could be the problem. It is found in the SQL directory of the phpnuke archive. To load it you go to phpMyAdmin in your control panel, select the database you will use for phpnuke, go to the sql tab, and browse to find the file you save on your computer called nuke.sql. When you hit Go it should format the database and give you a message that all worked well or an error occurred.
  20. Just type hybridz into the blank space in the phpBB install routine and it will do just what you want. A subdomain points to a subdirectory in your main public_html directory. If you already have created that subdomain in the cPanel it work as you want.
  21. I copied the flag gif and set it up as my avatar. It works fine for me in IE. I'll check it in the other browsers as well but does seem to be saved correctly.
  22. When you go to install phpBB it will ask you what you want to name the subdirectory it should be installed to. This subdirectory must be off your main directory. For example, if you want to install it into a subdirectory named forums you could then have a subdomain called forums.**** to access the board.
  23. It's animated for me as well. I'm using IE 6. If you are using IE you should doublecheck your internet settings. Go to Tools/Internet Options and open the Advanced tab. Go down to Multimedia and be sure that the Play animations on web pages box is checked. When I uncheck that box I get the graphic without animation.
  24. I still had several months before my account with my previous host would be up for renewal but I decided that it was better to go ahead and switch. The cost here is less than I was paying and TCH has many more features that are included that I would have had to pay extra for with my previous host. I would ask myself if staying with a host and being unhappy is worth the money I am saving by waiting.
  25. Link to the cPanel Manual (This is the link that can be found on the Support Page from the main TCH page.)
