  1. Hi, As always it depends on the exchange rate, I assume you are going from US Dollars to the British Pound (sterling). At the moment $55 is about £35 - depending which bank or credit card you use. Andy
  2. Whizzylogic, I can't answer your question directly, but I got round the problem by creating the file in cpanel, which saved it by default in my public_html folder - I then just edited the file externally (dreamweaver in my case) and everything worked happily Andy
  3. Hi, I'm worried that I might be in violation of AUP (without realising it or any intention of doing so), hence I'll be up front, honest and ask the question. First off all can I point out a failed link to the AUP on the TCH Help Website I tried to look up the AUP and FAQ there, but failed . You can get to the AUP from the main TCH website. Ok, my website is all about creativity and innovation - www.mycoted.com but I also have a subdomain about my own personal genealogy genealogy.mycoted.com There are links from one to the other, they are both my personal sites, so I see an argument that they are both about me, but I can also see an argument for them being seperate. If TCH thinks these are against the AUP which states then please let me know and I will remove the subdomain within 48 hours (if that seems acceptable) or I'll pay for the extra site if that is an acceptable alternative Many appologies if I have broken the rules, it was purely through a misunderstanding - and if that is the case can I suggest a clearer statement within the AUP because I'm sure I'm not the only one that would make such a mistake. Andy
  4. Clarkk, That's how I read it. I use Outlook and delete it - I've never had any problems. I'm sure others will let you know if anyone has had a problem. Regards Andy
  5. Hi, Just had a look through that thread - I think the best explanation is here which states; Andy
  6. Hi, From memory this is perfectly normal and not a problem. Have a look at the thread here Andy
  7. Took me a few seconds to work out the TCH Rocks - but I like it
  8. Hi, Yes, if they go to www.****/webmail They should then enter their email address as "username" - mail1@**** and their current password as password. They should then get a screen with the option of Neomail or Horde as webmail, and just below that at option to change their passward. Hope that helps Andy
  9. Jeff, I'm just one of the many users on TCH so can't give an official answer, however, as far as I understand it with a reseller account each of your "clients" has a domain, which they have full access to (and in which they can set up subdomains), but they do not have access to any of the other domains. Each of these domains has all the features (pop3 mail, smtp, search engine submission, etc...) Hope this helps Andy
  10. Hi William, Not sure why you havn't had a reply - usually the service around here is blisteringly fast I'm just one of the many users here at TCH, and I must admit the service & support I've has since joining in Jan has been great. I suggest you try contacting the support desk via http://totalchoicehosting.com/web_hosting_support.html and scroll down to the "Online Instant Support Chat". They should be able to help out. If not, come back and we'll find anopther way of getting the answer for you. Andy
  11. Hi, Yes, simply set up the two email accounts mail1@**** and mail2@****. Then you can use "Email Forwarders" in the Cpanel to say redirect all mail from mail1 to mail2. Andy
  12. Next 2 questions 1. Does it give the same error using the IP address as the domain name? 2. Do you have a log file from any of them to identify how far it gets before it falls over. Andy
  13. Hi, Can you give a little more info please. What are the error messages, or symptoms when it doesn't work? Andy
  14. Hi Peter, Not sure I can help a lot, I've not come across this problem. I've tried to access your site, and I can see yout problem!!!! A few questions to help me understand a little. 1. What did you call the subsomain? 2. Did you make any other changes? 3. You have removed the re-direct, have you removed the subdirectory? Andy
  15. My pleasure, Like you I'm new-ish to web design / hosting (I started in Jan really) and I've recieved lots of help here, it's a great family. When I know something about a topic because of what I've learnt and the mistakes I've made I'm more than happy to pass it on I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. Andy TCH Rocks
  16. This confused me when I started a few months back. Have a look at This thread Google has been to your site, but it takes a couple of months before it starts to display it consistantly. For the first few weeks I found that some days it was there, then the next it wasn't. Time to sit back and wait Andy
  17. Bill, Thanks for the reply. I have no wish to start a boxing match & apologies if my comments came across as such. I agree 100% with everything you have just said, and if I were you I wouldnt like to be told that your suggestions were "completely unacceptable." either. It is often even more difficult when we are relying on text only and don't get the body language that goes with these messages, despite the Icons . It's a great place to be, and just occasionally a few of us say something we didn't mean to come out the way that it does it in the cold light of day - far to often in my case So please don't be upset when I suggest that the way I read your first messages on closing the thread were harsher than you may have intended - blame it on my reading Overall, TCH does ROCK, As I said before, I have no problem at all with you trying to stop POP3 floods - I'd positively support it, I was commenting on my reading of the posts in the thread. Thanks again, and from my viewpoint, the issues closed Andy
  18. Bill, just though't I'd add a comment before you close the topic. I have very little problem with the need to stop POP3 floods. However I joined TCH because of the very helpful community, that listened to the users and worked together to find solutions, closing the topics goes against the grain of that to me. just my $0.02 worth Andy
  19. Yes, I guess it's the system your end What are you viewing it with - I've just checked with IE and Mozilla - both browsers see it OK. Andy
  20. I've just copied the US flag to my site http://www.mycoted.com/images/us-flag.gif is it animated if you look there? it is to me. Andy
  21. Can I send a big smile before this topic gets out of hand As far as I can tell everyone has valid points. There are times when some of us need to send significant quantities of email (not spam) and check email frequently (when developing scripts for example) and there are bosses & companies who don't understand that chat is not just a play thing, but an appropriate tool for some business purposes. Equally, we need to find some way of stopping server overload by a few people who check their email every few seconds. It may just be me reading the thread - I usually manage to read things wrongly but it seems to be getting close to an argument about some points rather than suggesting solutions. How about; 1. checking with the people that were sending POP3 requests frequently to see why? Probably an oversght in many cases and a request to set it to every 5 minutes may solve the problem. Yes, I know that is extra work, but if it solves the poblem... 2. How about a vote with options for say 1 sec "I'm happy with a slower server", 15secs, 30 secs, 1 min, 5 mins? 3. Can you set a daily limit? That way those of us that have automatics set to 30 mins, but occasionally want very rapid turn round when testing scripts etc are not affected? It shouldn't affect those who sent weekly news letters to 1000 folk either. 4. Move all the people who hammer the servers onto a single server betwen them , ok, maybe not the best suggestion, but I couldn't resist Come on team, how about a few more constructive (or downright silly suggestions) Andy
  22. "unani" and the american flag were both animated when I viewed them Andy
  23. I use 10 email accounts of my 'unlimited' allowance, I normally check them all, one after the other - does this mean that it would take me 5 mins (10 * 30 secs) to check my emails since they are all on the same main account, or would this count as 10 different POP3 requests? Andy
  24. cerealkeeler Basically all you need to do is add "Copyright 2003" on it as long as it is your original work. See http://www.copyright.gov/ The way in which copyright protection is secured is frequently misunderstood. No publication or registration or other action in the Copyright Office is required to secure copyright. There are, however, certain definite advantages to registration (there is then a public record established if you ever want to claim against someone) Copyright is secured automatically when the work is created, and a work is "created" when it is fixed in a copy or phonorecord for the first time. "Copies" are material objects from which a work can be read or visually perceived either directly or with the aid of a machine or device, such as books, web pages, manuscripts, sheet music, film, videotape... etc. Andy
  25. Harmony, Reading through the threads, it does seem there was a problem with FP 2000 and earlier, in that it will not publish to an IP address. If you are using a more recent version of FP, then not a problem. There are plenty of folks around here that will willing help you out though - they're a great family to be part off - I signed up a couple of months back & all my problems / issues have been sorted out very quickly - even when they have nothing to do with 'hosting' Andy
