Glenn, I was just testing file types for jrsweets. ZIP files are the only types of files I need to upload on my board so I am content. I would have preferred to be able to upload a self extracting ZIP file (EXE) but it wouldn't let me. So I will settle for ZIP. I can get around it by putting the self extracting file inside of a ZIP file.

There seems to be a problem with the array types. I was able to upload a pdf file but no to wav and mp3 files.

OK, I found the file that controls the file types. It is called conf_mime_types.php and is located in the root folder of the forum. You should be able to upload PDF and Mp3. The .rar file types are not listed. I suppose you could edit the file if you knew exactly what to put in there.

You know I tried uploading an EXE file to my board and I got the same error. But it will take a ZIP file. I'll do more research to see if it can be changed to allow different file types. You may be limited to ZIP files since it converts the file to a .ibf extension

Isn't it great to just drive up the hills when you want to see/play in it and not have to deal with it on a day-to-day basis? I used to live in Tucson. Now I live in Ohio and we get our fair share every winter. Not so bad this year though except for the cold.

Open the Admin panel in IPB. Select System Setting --> Topics, Posts & Polls. Look for Valid postable image extensions and add to the existing extensions. Defaults are: gif,jpeg,jpg,png That should do it.

Since it's never happened to me, I don't have a concrete answer. But you are sent the email at 80% which should give you time to make arrangements to up your bandwidth. I think the system automaically will suspend your account. Then again, I could be wrong.

When you hit 80% you will receive an email informing you that you are close to your limit.

welcome to the family, bluemorpho! Since you just got your website 2 days ago you had to upload your entire site and that would account for the majority of the bandwidth. But if you need more it is simple to upgrade. Just open a Help Desk ticket and they will be sure to help. Bandwitdth is all FTP, email and web traffic accumulated.

Yes, the problem is the receiving end. Create a folder in your web space and upload the file using FTP and send the person you are trying to send it to an email with the link to download it. That should do it.

Yes, that makes sense but the post you made about the $400 applet is the same as an FTP client which you would have to teach them how to use. So why not just teach them to use an FTP client. Using CuteFTP (I'm sure other FTP clients can do this too) you can create the login for the site and place them in the proper upload folder on the server and also set the default folder on the PC side. Then all they have to do is select all files in the folder on the PC side and drag them to the server side. Three of four clicks and they are on their way. Just make them delete the files on the PC side after uploading. Just offering a suggestion.

That solution is the same as using an FTP client. Why not use an FTP client? I'm just curious.
