Any activity that generates bandwidth in your account counts against your total bandwidth. So to answer your question, yes it would count. As for the second part of your question I am not sure what you are asking.

Not entirely true, but funny!

The cPanel counter counts how many times that script has been run. So depending on what page you add the script to will tell you how many times that page has been accessed. If someone refreshes the page the hit counter will be incremented. Does that help explain it. Counters are so yesterday. Use the stats provided from Awstats for mor accurate information.

DWD you have a Private Message. Anyone else needing the password, PM one of the red TCH- names and you will get it quicker than if you PM a blue TCH- name. But you can PM either. Please include your domain name so we can verify you are a TCH customer. Thank you.

You cand send through your old host even after the domain pointer change. Just be sure to use your domain address for the return email. I don't use web mail very often but I have never had it log me out. Of course I don't write long emails. Maybe someone else can answer that.

Once you change domain pointers you will have to use your old provider's IP address to access your old mail. You could install an email client and pull all the mail off the server to your machine. That way you wouldn't lose it. I heard that!

You cannot change ownership of a file if you don't own it in the first place. So CHOWN would not work for you unless you were the owner. You should not be using or have to use the CHOWN command. When you FTP a new file up to the server it should make the owner of the file the FTP account name you logged in with.

I do not believe secure FTP is supported other than through the File Manager in cPanel. Someone will be along to correct me if I am wrong. Welcome to the family and forums, paultwang!

File ownership is who owns the file and is used by the permissions mask. File permissions of 644 (owner-group-world) owner has read/write while group and world have read access. If you are not the owner you cannot write to or overwrite the file. Nor can you delete it. If your FTP client will show the owner of the files we would know for sure. I use CuteFTP and owner is one of the fields you can display. I checked my site and they are owned by my cPanel login name as I expected them to be. I don't know what could have caused them to change but the help desk could fix it if that is what has happened.

You will have to contact the help desk again with the latest information you just posted here. We don't have access to the servers. They will be able to change the file ownership for you.

This sounds like a permission problem.
