I had the same problem last week and it was due to a routing issue my ISP was having. Have you run a trace route? When I ran mine (I'm on SBC DSL) the trace kept looping back and forth between two nameservers. It would clear for about 45 seconds and start over again.

My approach is a little more hard-nosed. If they don't know the candidates and the issues then I think they should just move to another country where that's decided for them so they won't have to worry about it. I can think of no excuse to be uninformed besides apathy. Edit: spelling - duh. I agree, so why are there so many undecided voters still out there?

I am not aware of Awstats using cookies. It reads the log files and shows visitors by their IP addresses.

If I need to send files larger than a megabyte I upload it to my webspace and send the recipient a link to download the file. It's much more efficient since I don't know if the person has a fast connection or dialup or whether or not they can receive large attachments.

Thomas is correct. Try running a trace route when you cannot connect. You can run a trace route by opening an MS-Dos promt and then enter the following: tracert www.yourdomain.ext

You can try port 26. If 26 is also blocked you can either use web mail or your current ISP for outgoing. I personally use my ISP for outgoing with the return being my domain account. Simple to set up in an email client.
