I want to move to this place called "Theory" because n theory everything works!

I don't know specifics about EE but here are a couple of things I found and I hope something helps. I did a search on the error and found another site with the same situation so you're not alone - although that's no consolation.

I too do not know the answer but want to welcome you here. Is choosing a new ISP an option? It is not the ultimate solution because any ISP you go with may get flakey with time but it may be worth considering. I have BellSouth DSL and for a small extra fee you can get a static IP and possibly other ISPs will have a "leave my mail alone" feature.

Yet another option is to schedule a job on your home PC to FTP the file to your hard drive. There are a billion ways to back things up.

Yeah, Firefox does take up a bit - mine is about 32M - but then again, IE takes up about 200M under the name "Windows". It's like the smaller cheaper modems (winmodems) that depend on Windows coding to do some of the functionality - put them on Linux and they don't work. Like Raul said, IE opens the OS to the world because it is so intimately entwined within the OS.

If you own the domain name (it's registered in your name) you can contact the company it is registered with and ask them to transfer it. Tell them your registered email is not accessible and you need to change the info. Get everything registered in your name and when you sign up here on TCH you can set it as your DNS so visitors will come to your site here and you'll be all set!

Just a reminder to others who may be feeling frustrated, Bill and Rob, as well as others, are almost always available via IM or PM. Everyone should give the helpdesk and/or the forum the chance to solve the problem first, depending on which is the best support method for your type of issue, but if there are problems and you don't feel you are making headway, Bill runs an "always accessible" shop and he has never refused to address a legitimate problem personally when necessary. Please remember, though, that whomever you contact is not familiar with your details in most cases so be patient and start at the beginning and give them a chance to work on it. There's no way to tell for sure that it is completely done. The way it works, you may be able to get it and I can't or even from one try to the next it may work or not while it's "working". Check your welcome email and look for the IP address you can use temporarily to access your site. Welcome to the family! Just ask if you have any more questions - there are lots of your new brothers and sisters with great answers to all kinds or things.

This is by no way an endorsement by TCH... but one I get a lot of good information from and not so much fluff and self-promotion is highrankings.com. They have a good community of people there. There are people who dislike the lady that runs it and to each his or her own, but I haven't seen anything bogus there that was left unchallenged.

Start at Google's own pages. They talk about good and bad SEOs. I can give you top-10 placement for your chocolate site if you accept #1 rank for the search term "total xyzzy chocolate bliss" which is something no one would ever search for. No one can guarantee (truly) placement because they don't run the search engines. If they have a trick to get high placement today it probably won't be there tomorrow. Hundreds of pages have been droped completely from Google because of one particular company's bogus techniques getting on their final nerve and them saying "enough". Look for Search Engine Optimization or Search Engine Marketing type businesses. Ask them how they get high placement. If they talk about one-page sites or doorways or guaranteed placement or "special programs" etc then tell them bye-bye. If they say it will take months to see results then there is a good chance they are honest. For Google, about the only way to rate high is lots of links from similarly themed sites preferably. Also, if the only thing they talk about is Google then they are very limited in scope and you should probably go elsewhere. Google's not the only search engine/directory and engines are not the only way to get the most of your website. See if they mention anything about other ways to be visible to potential customers such as traditional advertising. Finally, use your gut-instinct. It's usually right in most cases. If the promise the world then they'll take you for all you're worth if they can. Hope it helps!

Hi Raevin, Was this during the time that the servers were being attacked earlier today? Is it still not working well? If you have any problems with it you'll be best served submitting a help desk ticket (link at the top of this page) and the techs will look at your specific server and accounts to see what's happening.

I dunno whassup but I've had zero problems with Firefox as well. I did get a utility (sorry, I forget where) that disables most of the less-often used features of reader so it loads faster - maybe that's a factor with PDF's. I run some pretty non-standard, as well as standard, stuff. Definitely consider removing (completely) the old FF and reload it.

I use DreamWeaver (DW) and PHP includes and the unfortunate thing is that DW can't interpret the PHP commands so it sticks in the PHP placeholder. You could look at the whole testing server thing in DW but sometimes it's just easier to upload it and view the page to see if it comes out the way you want. Another thing you can do is to put a web server on your PC that understands PHP and view the pages locally. One server that has been recommended in this forum before is the Abyss web server. It was free but I'm not sure about the current version. Anyway, you can set up your PC as a web server and have it "serve up" the pages, interpreting PHP as it goes. You can do a search on the forum for Abyss and find more info.

As long as you don't publish your logs or stats then it is not benefitting them in any way. If they are not using up all your bandwidth (or a significant portion of it) then I'd just chalk it up to them fishing for someone who does publish that info and call them harmless.

A giant Nerf basketball hoop? I just watched it again... you're right about the head and neck. That reminds me of how my dad would "stop the pain" of a rabbit he shot but wasn't dead... hold him by his hind legs and put the shotgun barrel across the shoulders and then rapidly swing it down across the neck and back of the head. It sounds cruel but we always ate what we shot and if the bunny was suffering it was a swift end to the pain.
