I read a couple threads concerning MiscTrackerUrl. Sounds like AWStats can be expanded to include more tracking, but would have to be done on a global basis. Are there any plans to expand AWStats tracking? From posting on Aug 22 2003 Thanks for the tip re javascript tracking. Since I had it free at my previous host for the company site, I didn't think it would be such a difficult item. It was such a nice feature, one of the few statistics they offered. TCH's AWStats truly do a much better job overall. -Samantha

One statistic that I used to see was what percentage of individuals were using 800 x 600 vs other resolutions. I don't see that in AWSTATS listing. Does anyone know a way to get this information? -Samantha

It might be related to a known issue in CSB: Check your publishing option settings. On the HTML directory tab, make sure that you do not have "save copy of exported HTML locally" checked. That option is great for previewing your site, but can interfer when sending the files to a website. When you place sound, images, etc into a webcomponent of an insert > HTML, CSB creates a new folder (HTMLobj-xxx) to hold those files. When that 'publish to local HTML directory' option is checked, CSB can not create that special HTMLobj folder on another server. Or if it has been created at some time in the past, CSB can actually remove the folder from the website, leaving the code unusable because the images/sounds, etc are missing from the site. When you get the error, please check the box to LOG ERROR. Then immediately publish again. In the lower box, CSB often gives a better explanation or an error code. Please tell us what it says so we can narrow down the problem. -Samantha

I will be going into the hospital on friday and away from computers for a couple weeks. When I return I will do as you suggest. Thank you for your recommendation! -Samantha

I tested it again tonight when I got home and strangely, it is working ok again.... Should I still open a help ticket or let it drop for now?? -Samantha

Thanks for moving the post...really wasn't sure where to address the issue. I just checked the chat again, still can't get in. What should I do? -Samantha

Yesterday evening, I was using the chat room on my site with one other person. After being in the chat room for about 5 minutes, both of us were cut off from the connection and immediately a white page with appeared. I thought it would just be temporary so did not report it last night. But when I tried to go back in this morning, it still gives the same response. The site is up and running, just the chat has a problem. Wasn't sure this was the place to post or not. -Samantha

A terrific, simple Windows Backup Launch Utility that is free was made by a CSB user Cary Thomas. The product is BLAUNCH and can be downloaded here: http://www.blaunch.us.tt/ Everytime you open that important file, it makes a backup (up to 999 versions can be stored) so if it gets damaged in anyway you can go back to a previous version. "BLaunch.exe only backs up a document file at launch, then blaunch closes - it does not backup during edit of the document." I did a search for 6 months and did not see that this program has already been posted. Hope I am not repeating.... -Samantha

Thanks for the suggestion. Have been looking for a low-cost alternative. Will check it out! -Samantha

I Cannot Seem To Get It Right, Sigh ...

Hi Tara! Let me welcome you to the CSB family too. As Richard mentioned, Globalscape has a forum for user to user assistance with CSB. We'll help you too! http://www.globalscape.com/board/ Also, may I suggest a couple sites that offer specific CSB assisantance/tutorials and answer questions (besides Richard's wonderful template site): KW's the guru of CSB: http://www.csbsupport.com/index.htm Curtis has all the extra goodies that make sites special: http://www.cmg02.com/webmasters Turtle has this area of his site: http://csb.thepetscorner.com/examples.htm and my site: http://www.samisite.com CSB may seem to be locked into pre-set templates but that's not the whole story! You can modify the templates you have, create your own, or choose to not use templates at all and do your own thing (as I do on many of my sites). The key is to take it one step at a time and try different things that you find on the support sites. Just like anything you do, you get better with practice and patience. Give yourself a break! None of us came out of the womb running. We had to situp, crawl, and waddle first, with a lot of bumps and fruises along the way. Hang in there....it gets easier! And more fun! -Samantha -
"I see" says the blind one! Thanks for the info!! I had read on some other post that Cpanel was upgraded (to 7 I think I saw). I'm still getting used to the current interface, so am glad it's staying around a while longer. It's also reassuring that TCH has folks that understand it well and are keeping an eye open for potential headaches. As usual, TCH is ahead of the curve!! Rock Sign -Samantha

I was just on another discussion board recommending TCH and suggesting the person stop by and check out the cPanel demo. When I went to get the address for the demo, I clicked on it to make sure I was getting the right thing and was surprised to see a totally different version of the cpanel appear on the demo screen than what I have. Will all the servers be updated to the new interface, or just left on the interface they have? I'm on server 26. -Samantha

Thanks Jim. Lou is working on another style CSB color chart that may be of more use than mine in the long run. Ironic, for years I waited for someone else to do it, now suddenly my chart spurs people on! If I had known that would happen, I would have drafted a really yucky piece years ago so someone would already have a really nice reference in place http://www.ussrankin.org/test/id72.htm I have asked permission from someone to modify a special chart that is well known on the web. If I get permission, it will be a very nice CSB resource... just waiting to hear back.... shutup I figure I have a 50-50 chance - even made a sample for him to see what I want to do to his chart. If not, I will come up with some other way to present that information. -Samantha

Just revised the second page based on a request I received. I got frustrated because when I looked up colors on other posted charts, I could not correlate it to the CSB palette. Now I have a page I can quickly reference, and keep working. Hope others find it helpful too. Think it has the potential to be very useful. -Samantha

I made a quick reference for all CSB users and posted it here: http://www.samisite.com/color/ The CSB palette is very small so I expanded it and identified the hex codes for each. Also made a second version of the page that allows you to see the 256 text colors against all 256 background colors, matching the CSB Trellix palette. Choose a background color then scroll to see which text colors work well against that background. Found other charts that do the same kind of thing, but they did not use the CSB palette to do it. http://www.samisite.com/color/changecolor.htm -Samantha

Thank you. Will read the other thread and make the change to the htaccess file. By the way, thank you for the assistance on the keywords. My ste is now well placed by Google! Thumbs Up -Samantha
-
I just set up 6 pages using the cPanel redirect feature. Is it not as efficient as htaccess file? Should I delete that and put it into the htaccess file instead? -Samantha

NO it doesn't!!! I think you have the answer!!! woooot I knew something had to be missing. Don't know why. Haven't modified the results window at all yet. Will play with it in the morning, but I think that's it. THANK YOU!! -Samantha

Well, that's the point, I do have page titles. They are listed the description, like shown in yours. I just do not have a link. (titles bBolded for emphasis) 6. CHILD'S NURSERY RHYME Results New Search CHILD'S NURSERY RHYME Ty Smith There you stand With my life in your hands, Tangled up in fear I can't escape. I don't know Of these feelings that you show, A part of you I just can't face. You say you'll do me right Keep me w Here's an example also bolded for emphasis: 1. Lambert Corporation - Concrete In Colors Color Chart 7/25/2003 13:42:16 Lambert Corporation Cement and Mortar Color guide for colored concrete http://www.lambertusa.com/color/id12.htm (Yes, I need to adjust the format of the search result to get rid of time, date....) Here's the page I want to link to...http://www.lambertusa.com/color/id12.htm <TITLE>Lambert Corporation - Concrete In Colors Color Chart </TITLE> is in the source code. Now what...? There were 4 different downloadable files. Maybe you used a different version? I used rs-mysql-perl Maybe your results page is different than mine? -Samantha

ok... with permissions, I was able to accomplish far more. You didn't mention the search.cgi file, but I set it to 755 and it worked. Thumbs Up I have started spidering and capturing pages. Thumbs Up I have tried searching and I get results (still have to play with the formatting but am confident I can do that). One problem: the results have no link! Your results have a number and a link then the description. I have a number and a description. I have gone through the documentation and can't seem to find how to make that!!! HELP PLEASE. What do I need to add to the results template to get a link? I went into the mysql manager and was able to see the database/edit. How nice. I will be able to delete pages I do not want in the search....another GREAT plus! -Samantha

Permissions....that's what's missing! Thank you! I had already accessed the admin page and changed my password. will go back and work on it some more (and make note in the printed version of the permission settings). Will let you know progress. -Samantha

long past my 1/2 hour... LOL but still working at it When I try sto search, I get this response 404 page: /cgi-bin/our_search/search.cgi?string= 1) I don't think the database has been created. What do I do to actually create it (I've gone through the instructions a couple times but just don't get it.) 2) It has an add.cgi file. Do I need to manually add each page for them to show up in the database? Or can I get it to load another way like with spider.cgi? I tried accessing that through the browser as I did admin.cgi file, but get this: Internal Server Error. Do I need to set permissions differently? Maybe this is just too sophisticated for a first time cgi script ..... maybe I should be considering other options because I don't want to be a pest about this...... -Samantha

I downloaded the 4 files for RuterSearch, but when I unzip, they seem to be duplicates. Which file did you use in your setup? I used rs-mysql-perl And did you install all the files in the archive to the cgi bin? I did I added a database to mysql (lambsearch) I have tried to run the admin.cgi file to install the search but keep getting the same error: could not access database. When it finally went through, it created a new database rutersearch, but I can not find it in my mysql database list in cpanel. Did you customize your response page? I like the way you have yours setup. Thanks for any pointers. -Samantha

Then the redirects are a waste of time.... will remove them. And As I said earlier: -Samantha

okie dokie..... I found anothre and it is /MSOffice/citreq.asp Looks like I will just have to accept that this account is going to be flooded with attempts to get into the server in some way. Yuck! Strange how I have so many on this new account (domain moved Monday) and none of them on my personal account that's been around a few months. Thanks. -Samantha
