  1. This has been fun. So thankful I found Trellix/CSB/and now TCH! This new format with a form on the 404 will come in VERY handy as I move the company site this week. Bought the site today, was sent the welcome email 13 minutes after purchasing..! Will start publishing to TCH tomorrow morning. The new format will at least make it easier for me to find out where the error is with almost no effort on the visitor's part. -Samantha
  2. Turtle, just visited yours. You might want to center the buttons. I decided to remove the reset button on mine-only choice is to report error (or back button) I didn't realize that you could have a separate 404 for a subdomain. Never worked with one. -Sam
  3. I took off the caps and now mine reads: "Click here to report error and see alternative links" Really like the built-in form idea! Pat yourself on the back for me-you done good! -Samantha
  4. Thank you.... That was it. I used this to link to the logo on my home page and now it works fine! Thumbs Up <IMG SRC="../1d580580.jpg" border=0 width="128" height="88" ALT="Sami's Site logo"> -Samantha
  5. Mitch... Hate to say it, but I think you misspelled entrance. Ok, modified mine to have a form now, with a thankyou that has links. http://www.samisite.com/404.shtml It works fine, sorta...when the page is accessed from within a subdirectory, the image doesn't show. I have a sub test-csb, but no 123: http://www.samisite.com/test-csb/123 -Samantha
  6. Thank you..... will play with mine when I get home tonight to add a form. Great idea. -Sam
  7. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woooot TCH ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock Sign I signed up for our company site today and 13 minutes later I got my welcome email! Amazing! Even faster than when I started my personal site. I am impressed Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Now, I need to know exactly what to tell FDN, Network Solutions, etc re the email situation so it does not get fouled up. Should I open a new ticket or reference the original ticket where I sent the details before? -Samantha

    Me 2

CSB, cutesite builder, Trellix, support, tutorial, script, html, code, design, Samantha, Conway Personal site for Samantha Conway with CSB and Trellix website building tutorial support When I had the freebie sites for a few months, I did not bother to put in keywords or descriptions, or even title pages. It was never sent into a search engine and never spidered (didn't want it because I knew it was not staying...) But now that I have a domain name, I would like it to be picked up. Been a couple months now and finally have enough on the site to make it worth finding (or so I think anyway). I know it isn't good to combine two completely different purposes into the same site. I would not recommend having a support site also be a personal site. I know they should be separated, or put one as a subdomain. But at this point I want it together. As usual, I am not following the rules and it will probably hurt me in the long run. If you search google for Sami Site it DOES appear as second site on 1st page. But if you search my site based on the URL it is not found. -Samantha
  10. like it..... might incorporate a form in mine too. On Lambert's I gave a link to a form, but didn't put a form on the 404....nice idea! -Sam
  11. Just one more then I will leave you alone. This is the one I have for Lambert....http://www.lambertusa.com/404.htm Functional. -Sam
  12. Did you see this 404 page by another TCH member? http://www.thinkdigitally.com/Gdesign/insi...ison/index.html -Samantha
  13. Turtle, I wanted a couple of the features offered in the cpanel too: page not found url and refering url. I put them into the 404 page I made in CSB by inserting the code into insert > HTML. Best of both worlds. Renamed my page 404.shtml and took out my htacess line. Works great. Take a look. -Samantha
  14. That's what I did last night, based on a post by Jim. -Samantha
  15. Turtle, you send me to a thread that had a simple answer from Jimuni which added one line of code to htaccess, so I did! Simple. I did see your note that you added your HTML code to the 404 page in the cpanel, but I thought changing one line of code would be faster and also had one more issue with doing it that way: Had an image in my 404 page and wasn't sure that I could do that on a 404 page in the cpanel so I stuck with the one line change. Works well. Thumbs Up -Samantha
  16. Already done. Added the line of code to my htaccess file and poof it works fine. Thank you again. Now I will go back and take a look at yours, Thomas and Curtis's versions. And will have to read that post about the htaccess file to understand what I did! But I will do that tomorrow. Good night. -Samantha
  17. Consider yourself hugged! Thank you! I knew it was easy and had been addressed before. Will work with it tomorrow night. -Samantha
  18. I notice you can customize a 404 page in the cpanel but it seems bare bones. Can I make a page that matches my site (colors, design, etc) and connect to it somehow? On another site, with a different webhost, it was as easy as creating a new page, making it 404.htm and it works. I know many people must have asked this question, but when I did a search I didn't find an answer. Is there someplace I should go for instruction? Thank you. -Samantha
  19. This place is filled with really nice folks. Thanks for the offer Doc! (I want to put your animated avatar on my desktop to remind my PC that I can do as much damage to it as it's done to me...!) -Samantha
  20. Thanks Turtle. I will take you up on that offer! I saw that answer posted on the FAQ...I'm glad. -Samantha
  21. I saw the Sign guy.... Rock Sign I meant the little square image of gray/brown pebbles (rocks) is missing now... -Samantha
  22. My experience with three other web hosts: Support? What is support? Two of the hosts do not respond to emails at all, figuring that if the problem is fixed, you just won't write them again. The third responds, but it takes several tries to get someone that understands the issue, and then only gave a truly understandable response when I said I wanted to move the site and needed the details of the settings used today. None of three have forums, none would be willing to admit that they have a problem, none of them offers anything close to the support from the technical side and user to user side. TCH is exceptional in the quality and timeliness of the service and the patience that is displayed when dealing with Newbies on the forum. -Samantha
  23. As I mentioned in my first post, I began building the site before I knew there could be a problem with capitalization. But for quite some time, I have been trying to make it a habit to use all lowercase. I expect that many maybe (50 - 80) pages will have to be manually pruned before I move the site...bummer. Yuck! I was aware of / . and - issues and don't have to worry about those, only CAPS and Caps, and capS, etc. Yes, you are right. The current host is running Windows servers. Besides caps, is there anything else that could throw a wrench in the works due to changing to Linux server? Thanks again for such a quick and complete response! This is EXACTLY why I want to move the company site to TCH, even if I have to spend time cleaning first! SUPPORT! What a wonderful concept! Whoda thunk it?! Rock Sign -Samantha
  24. The link to TCH is on the home page: http://www.samisite.com/ and again on my web building resources page: http://www.samisite.com/webbuild.htm Site name: Sami's Site Description: Tutorial support site for CSB and Trellix made by Samantha Conway with a personal flavor added. The full site has not been moved from my old ISP freebie sites...still under construction, but fully functional. Just got the domain name in May and only show on Google under Sami Site. Any critique welcome, including Rank Evaluation (please). -Samantha
  25. On my employer's current web host CAPITALIZATION is no problem. http://www.lambertusa.com/color/id12.htm and http://www.lambertusa.com/COLOR/ID12.HTM and http://www.lambertusa.com/COLOR/id12.HTM and http://www.LAMBERTUSA.com/Color/id12.htm and http://www.lambertUSA.com/COLOR/ID12.HTM All work fine and take you to the same page no matter how it is typed. It's the only really nice feature they offer! The actual file should be the first version as that's the way the folder and files are made. I have noticed on my TCH account that a 404 is reached if the CAPS aren't exactly correct. Is there a way to override as done at my employer's current webhost? If not, I will have to travel page by page to verify EVERY LINK before I move the site to TCH. Serious time and pain!!!! Please note site was started before I knew that I need to be careful of caps. -Samantha
