Thanks for the heads up and using servers that can't be toyed with easily. Rock Sign I tried putting in redirects but not sure I did them right. Guess I will find out with time. How about all the relative links....any idea here? -Samantha

So the brand new site is already being attacked by Nimbda??? Mad!!! Is there anything I should do? The link you sent me to had a redirect to nohackerz.com but since that is not my site, where would I redirect? Or just ignore? -Samantha

Yes. The items I mentioned are in the 404 errors list in the Awstats. I have a personal account also, and have never seen them. I would have thought that they were refering to my hard drive also, but I do not have any files on the site that point to my hard drive, nor do I have a scripts folder or any of the files on my hard drive that are being sought. The webtrends report from the previous web host also listed 404 errors, but none that look like these. All new since moving the site this week. I also have an error now showing referer is our home page, requesting: /cgi-bin/FormMail.pl I have not set up anything in the cgi bin at all (didn't have the ability at the old host, let alone from the home page. /default.ida is another new entry. Found out why ist is being searched - another worm: http://www.cotse.com/mailing-lists/ntbugtr...1/Jul/0012.html -Samantha

I wanted to let you know my thoughts on the move to TCH from FDN. I had issues regarding email handling by our old web host and was concerned that since it is not the "standard" email set-up, TCH may not be able to handle the account. I was assured that TCH could and would be able to accomodate the account settings. Once the folders were uploaded to the site, Rickvz adjusted the account, the domain was moved. It's been 3 days and the website is fully propagated. We have had NO interruption in the email services!!! Thank you Rickvz for your EXCELLENT work!!! Thumbs Up THANK YOU TCH!!! Dance Dance -Samantha

Ok.... I understand what causes case sensitive errors, and truly missing pages, etc. I had webtrends for statistics at the previous web host and used to seeing that kind of thing, but now I have two other kinds of errors I have not seen before: 1) 3 pages of URLs listed as errors and they have no referers. All look like relative links. I've found most of the pages where they belong inside the proper folders. Why would I get errors when links to those pages work fine and the pages load without a problem? 2) The last few have no referers and are listed as: /d/winnt/system32/cmd.exe scripts/root.exe /scripts/..%c0%af../winnt/system32/cmd.exe /_mem_bin/..%255c../..%255c../..%255c../winnt/system32/cmd.exe scripts/..%c1%9c../winnt/system32/cmd.exe /msadc/..%255c../..%255c../..%255c/..%c1%1c../..%c1%1c../..%c1%1c../winnt/system32/cmd.exe /c/winnt/system32/cmd.exe /_vti_bin/..%255c../..%255c../..%255c../winnt/system32/cmd.exe /MSADC/root.exe I don't have now and never had a scripts directory, nor do I know why anyone or anything would be looking for the other entries. Do I need to do something to stop or avoid these errors, or just live with them? Thanks for any insights folks. -Samantha

I like the Ruter Search response far more than Free Find. Will take a look at the documentation. Thanks for the heads up. Made it very easy to compare the results since you left the other search on the same page. (I like your rotating smilie face) Will probably take me longer than half hour simply because I have not used a cgi bin, php or mysql databases yet. The previous web host didn't offer them and so I'm getting my feet wet now... Love to play with new things... I will have fun today!! (have 2 projects...a new form code and new search code....where to begin...) -Samantha

Thanks for the link and the info. Maybe Freefind would work for Lambert after all if I don't like Entrophy search. Dance Dance -Samantha

Where can I learn about the permissions? What they mean, why they are used and how to convert over to numbers (have seen instructions...set your permission to 755 yet I do not see numbers only check boxes). Lianna, KW was using Freefind for quite a while. But the free version is for sites up to 32Mb, and I went past that my first day on TCH. I would have to pay for the option. The Lambert site far exceeds that so I am seeking another free alternative if possible. -Samantha

I uninstalled the FP extensions as suggested and that cleared the folders. Thank you!!! Thumbs Up I was looking at the index manager. I wonder if it would block certain folders from the search..... Any recommendations for search scripts are easy to setup and maintain that I can use on a commercial site, if I don't end up using the one in cPanel? -Samantha

I like that Lianna!!! Sounds very unemotional, professional, yet experienced and wise! It also does not critique the customer's idea and possibly wound an ego. I also agree wholeheartly with the statement: The heartburn and cost of the rolaids necessary to work on some accounts is not worth it. -Samantha

I have two basic questions that have probably been addressed dozens of times, but after wandering, still haven't found an answer.... 1) In my public_html folder, I have several folders that I do not recognize and would like to understand. _private, _vti_bin, _vti_cnf, _vti_log, _vti_pvt, _vti_txt If I want pages to be private, do I publish them to the _private directory? 2) I looked at the search ability and thought it would be great until I realized that every page on the site is in the search. If I don't want some pages to be included, is there a way to not include certain pages? (The help didn't help on that issue) Came from web host with no options - cPanel is new to me so I've been reading the manual for assistance. -Samantha

On http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/web-host...ng-support.html the link to PHP User Manual is typed PHP User Manua -Samantha

Ok.... give it a try....I've worked on it for over an hour...and have settled for this without extra text area: Tried adding this before the submit button: and added comment to the sort order too (as usual) But I just get this response: tlx_SortOrder: error, comment <<< this is the standard response when the server can not send a field. I get error, but not comment. Tried reversing order. I'm usually VERY good with forms, but this combo is a stickler for me. Any suggestions??

hmmm.. not working. I am still using the Globalscape server for my forms. I have not set up an email on my website yet....I am using their header for the form. Maybe that's the problem.... -Samantha

I had a form on my 404 page that had a textarea with information on the 404 page error using the echo command. I was allowing the visitor to comment inside the text box with the error information. Then I saw a post to make the 404 info hidden. I did that. I tried to add a second textarea so a visitor can send a comment, but I just get the hidden text 404 information, not the comment textarea. How would I have both? Or is it even possible? -Samantha

Have made no changes to the htaccess file File is a copy of the one used on this site: http://www.samisite.com which uses a 404.shtml file with no additional code added to htaccess file. (See other thread I started when I made THAT 404 page) The only differences between the two 404 pages: color, logo is changed. Trying to make sure no links cause the 404, but since there are so many, chances are I will hit a few when the domain is moved over. That's why I want the new 404 up when the site goes live. -Samantha

I just uploaded my 404.shtml custom page and when I tried to view it, I couldn't. I have not moved the full site yet so I am still uploading via the temporary address given in the welcome email. So far, I can view and test everything I have uploaded to this point, except for the error page. Is there a reason I still get the plain white 404 instead of the new custom 404? -Samantha

When I glanced at my stats tonight, I found this external link repeated twice: http://useastprb.optiview.com/HTTP:/samisite.com/ When I load it into the address bar, my whole site shows. What is happening here? My true address is http://www.samisite.com -Samantha

You are right! In both the summary and keywords... Changed both. Thanks for the kind words. It started as a testing ground for me on how to implement new features or a sample assist someone on the CSB forum and has grown from there. -Samantha
