Ok here are my thoughts. IPB has been good for us. Like a old dog, always loyal and always by your side. I personally just like the way IPB is set up. The admin interface is easy to use and we have been using it since we opened the doors. Vbulletin - It is very good and is highly suggested by many. I do no like the admin interface. PHPBB - Has always been a good board. It is open source so that puts it right on the top of my list. Bill

Server Status Page is fully updated with all servers. I am still working on a more detailed page, but this part of the project is not done yet. Thanks

Many Things Amiss On My Server 11 Account!

Server Issues must go thru our help desk. We do not monitor the forums for tech support issues. Closing thread. -
Robert - Since I live 15 minutes from there you best call me and we can do dinner. Bill

When and where? Let us know Mike and I will meet you somewhere and buy you a drink. Bill

"Looks like we need another lizard for the geico ads"

The way this works is we simply post a photo and people reply with captions for the photo. Here is my submission.

Ace, Send this on to your R&D people. That little black plastic case that we all slide our BB's into simply STINKS. At the top there are two round looking indentations in the case. These scratch the top of the BB to no end. I am on my 4th BB and they have all done the same thing. I finally bought the leather case offered by Nextel. Bill

Rob - Thanks. Ace, I would be concerned with the fact that by placing a redirect from godaddy you are creating a second point of failure. Bill
-
It appears your using a redirect of some sort for the domain name listed in your sig. I did some checking and actually the DNS server for godaddy was down and thus the dns lookups were timing out. Bill

Ace, Just a off the topic question for you. Are you still hosting with TCH? I noticed that the domain in your profile is hosted on a non TCH server. Bill

Alive is the direct opposite of dead

Robert, If your browser cache is full, View Source can fail. To see if this is the case, select Internet Options from IE's Tools menu, click on the General tab, and click on the Delete files button in the Temporary Internet Files pane. Good Luck! Bill

It means that they IP's can not be re-assigned to others outside that netblock. IP blocking can be effective if the user is on a cable modem or DSL line that uses Static IP Address. This means that the IP address given to the user does not change. But also, IP blocking can be effective even on non-static IP address. Sometime the DHCP Lease times can be for days, weeks or even months. So blocking it would be effective until the user flushes his DNS thru his modem or the lease expires. If the problem gets out of hand please drop me a PM. I will contact the users ISP and demand a take down action. Most likely nothing will happen but a warning email to the user. Bill

86 was just added to the monitoring pool last night to be truthful. We will need to give it a full week before reporting on the uptime. Bill
-
I think everyone will be very amazed at the number's we will be posting. TCH averaged a 99.97% uptime ratio over all servers in our farm. We saw over 22 servers with 100% uptime and only 4 with less than 99.9% uptime. Of those four, three dipped below 99.9% due to scheduled server moves. The family here gets VERY GOOD service. Enjoy the new uptime figures that Rob is posting now. Thanks Bill

Phpbb Vulnerability (versions Older Than 2.0.11)
Head Guru replied to MikeJ's topic in Security Discussions
Drop a ticket into support and ask that the box be upgraded and if you like reference this thread Bill -
I think we will offer a status page as it is now, but there will be a link near the top of the status page "Click here for a more detailed report". This will give the best of both worlds? Bill
-
Keep the input coming. I think it will be either or in this case. We already offer tons of server status information on our status site. http://www.tchstatus.com I am upgrading our main server status page. I think the current one works, but is lacking on real information. For example. If I were a user, I would like to see how many failed tests occured over the past 24 hours. I will be posting some beta versions of the new status page shortly. Thanks for the input and keep it coming.

Whilst I agree with your points. TCH will not be moving to another board. I really like the IPB and very much dislike Vbulletin Bill
