  1. We are 90% done with our monitoring pages and expect them to be re-released sometime in the next 48-72 hours. Thanks Bill
  2. Lets do a little math shall we? Talk about overselling, gesh! 120GB Hard Drive Each User is alloted 3GB space Thats 40 Users per server without any overselling. 40 X 96 = $3,840.00 per year $3,840 / 12 months = $320.00 So that company can earn without overselling a whopping $320 per month per server. Lets see. A decent server cost around $3K to build up Rackspace, Rent, Power and Bandwidth can be expensive. A good level1 tech makes a honest buck. Need a level2 support person to maintain that server when level1 can not. Lets not forget Billing Personell to man the billing tickets. Almost forgot about abuse department. What if a spammer got on the server. Oh we might want to provide a shared SSL certificate on the server, thats another $100 bucks. Egads, we better monitor that server in case it crashes. Typical user submits 5 helpdesk ticket per quarter, thats about 2 per month. 40 X 2 = 80 tickets a month. Typical time to work a ticket is about 12 minutes. Need to pay fringe to staff. They have families you know. Paid vacations? Yes, I guess they need them. Christmas bonus, profit sharing, paper supplies, office supplies, rent. Oh Man, all this from a server that nets me $320 a month!!! Enough said.
  3. Welcome... Aaron please IM me, we keep missing each other.

  10. When you loose connection are you loosing synch on your modem? There can be many factors that can cause DSL to loose connection. Does your connection drop when someone calls you or when someone is talking on the phone. IF so this could be a bad line filter. Replace the line filter. Do you have any Florescent lights near your DSL modem? If so remove them, they can actually cause interference. Do you know how far your house if from the telephone central office. Sometimes their can be a issue with the copper between your house and the telco. Check out this website. dslreports.com Good luck.
  11. We do allow any TCH reseller to use our AUP & TOS. However, this was not the case with these guys. They did not even remove our company name from the ripped site.
  12. They were using all of our TOS, AUP and sales pages. Nice guys huh?
  13. We are currently sold out of all dedicated servers. It is not a issue about having servers in stock, even if we did have the servers, we have no place to put them. All our racks are racked to full limits. Growth has been excellent, thank you to everyone. I will update this when space becomes available or when our new racks are up and in place. Bill
  14. Yes we all love Andy. However, I am not sure what this Cider Drink is all about. (inside joke) Thanks for the kind words and Andy is overpaid as it is. LOL

  17. Cheap bandwidth? Cheap Servers? Cheap, Cheap, Cheap!!! Blah!!! You get what you pay for in the dedicated server market. Bill
  18. Effective immediately we will no longer be offering ASPELL on any of our shared servers. We have simply ran into to many issues with this script and it has caused to many crashes on our servers. This is effective as of this post. Thank You.
  19. Effective 8/1/2005, TotalChoice Hosting will no longer be offering NeoMail on any of our shared servers. Removal of features provided to our client base is not a decision we take lightly. However circumstances exist that has forced us to make this move. Our decision is based on the following factors: 1. NeoMail is no longer in development and has not been since 2002, almost 3 years ago. This means that any bugs or security issues are no longer being fixed by the developers. As this is a 3rd party software, cPanel is not supporting it directly, instead leaving it to the developers to fix any issues. This has become a serious issue! 2. The current version of Perl does not work well with NeoMail. When a user reaches their full disk quota and accesses their NeoMail, a NeoMail process will open indefinitely using 50-99% of the CPU power until forcibly killed by our admin team. We have been actively and proactively dealing with this for many weeks. However this problem has recently grown more serious and we must take action. Since neither cPanel nor the original NeoMail developers are interested in fixing this we have no other choice but to remove this option from our servers. This has been an issue for many months and is documented. 3. cPanel provides excellent alternatives for web mail users such as Horde and Squirrel mail. Therefore we will be asking all NeoMail users to transition to these other alternatives as soon as possible. Once again, we will stop supporting NEOMAIL on 8/1/2005 on all shared servers. This affects both reseller servers and virtual servers. We have also advised dedicated server clients on this issue as well. Thank you for your support.
  20. Open a ticket with our abuse team. We have a tad more pulling power with ISP's than say one individual. If you would like we can also block the person's IP from our servers.

  24. We are trying to determine what some of the most popular e-mail clients in use by our client base. Please take a moment and complete the poll. Thanks!
  25. I wanted to bring this issue to everyone's attention. This only affected clients using NS1 and NS2.totalchoicehosting.com Tonight at approximately 8:25PM EST our master DNS server stopped responding to DNS queries. Upon initial investigation we determined that the server had crashed and required a hard reset. We were not concerned about this outage as our secondary DNS server was online and resolving DNS, so there should not have been any issues. However, this was a incorrect assumption on our part. A very small percentage of clients' domains stopped resolving when our master DNS server was taken off line for a reboot and disk check. We were unaware of this until clients contacted us about their downed sites. Of course we were shocked to hear this news, as the secondary DNS server should have been resolving the domains. However, this was not the case. The master DNS outage lasted approximately 40 minutes. This was due to the server running a FSCK upon reboot. We estimate that around 2,000 domains did not resolve during this outage. They were not resolving from around 8:25PM EST to 9:10PM EST. All DNS servers are up and the issue has been fully corrected. Our initial investigation has revealed a simple mistake on our part. In early January our DNS clustering system was down for several days due to maintenance. Also again in March and again just last week. During this time any DNS updates, such as, new accounts, moved accounts, sub domains etc, were only written to our master DNS. We failed to realize this until just tonight. Honesty is the best policy and there it is. We have corrected this issue and all DNS is up and working on both the master and secondary. Thank you for your time.
