This has nothing to do with backups. This has everything to do with trust and respect. I trust my clients to pay me for a service I render to them. When they dont pay me or fall behind in payments we ALWAYS work things out. Heck , I have one client right now that is 4 months a arrears on a dedicated server. He makes a weekly payment to me every week on the rear and is keeping current on the new billing. However, when a client commits a fraudulent act and conducts a chargeback, this is where I draw the line. Chargebacks effect my standing with our Credit Card Processor and they cost money. In this instance it cost $100 in fees and lost revenues of $44.00 for the hosting. What I find so amusing is in all the pleas and excuses, I do not find one offer to make things right. No offers to pay for the damages you caused, nothing. Another thing, these are company owned forums, they are NOT a public venue. Your girlfriend contacted her credit card company and iniated a chargeback stating the charges from us were "fraudulent and unauthorized". The charges on her credit card statement clearly showed "2Checkout - TOTALCHOICE HOSTING WEB". You state she never heard of 2checkout, however she approved the charges in the past but this time she did not. So she must have been aware of the charges the first time around. We simply are not in business to provide free hosting to clients that simply refuse to call a phone number on their credit card statement to verify billing. It would have taken one phone call to the 800 number on her credit card statement to clarify what the charge was for. The chargeback cost us $100 in fee's and $44.00 for her lost hosting income. If a folder has 777 permissions anyone can write to it. This means my next door neighbor could upload a file to that folder and run it from a browser and thus execute that particular file on the server. There at one point was a PHP (4.3.11) issue that would give a remote user full read/write permission to a 777 folder even if the folder was located in a 700 folder. This issue was corrected with the newest release of 4.4.1 PHP so that can not occur any longer. The new version of PHP respects top level paths. People are gaining access to these files because the person or script that created the folders or files created them with world writable permissions. It really is that simple. I could change any of your files in a folder you set to 777.

Not the first time we have seen this issue. In your case it was caused by 777 permissions on a publicly accessible folder. Watch your permisssions in the future.

My guess is your trying to FTP to an IP address that has changed due to our well discussed, announced and emailed server moves.

Sounds like your broswer has cached the cPanel page from a day ago, I have seen this occur before. Nothing to be alarmed about. Clear your browser cache and try again.

This should be corrected now. Sorry for the issue, 3rd party software and I are not getting along today.

Her mom went to get the laundry from the dryer and returned to find the 2.5 year old with the pill bottle in her hand and a couple in her mouth. Dan you and your family in my prayers buddy. No the upstream has many pipes. You however can only travel to the upstream via one of those pipes. In your case that pipe was broken and you could not connect. Gnax has over 10gbps of connectivity and 7 redundant connections. Ok latest update. This issue is corrected. The problem was with Level 3 (a tier 1 provider) Routes should be reconverging and everyone should be happy again.

As stated.... we wait until the issue is isolated and corrected.
