  13. Hello, Effective last monday Ryan MacDonald is our new Data Center Operations Manager. Ryan brings many years of background to the table. As some of you know, Ryan MacDonald is the founder of R-FX Networks (www.r-fx.ca). R-FX is responsible for some of the most widely used Linux products on the GNU market today. Tools such as APF (advanced policy firewall) and BFD (brute force detection) all come from the team at R-FX. I had to do some serious talking to get Ryan on our team full time, but he has accepted the challenge and has taken on the full time job as of last monday, and things are already moving fast at our Troy, MI facility. Changes have already started to take form at the Data Center. Ryan just completed a large scale automation utility for monitoring our power distribution and is working on a program to better assist with new server rollouts and hardware tracking. Some longer term projects he has outlined to me already included automated OS reloads, better tracking of core network devices and man is he spending my money. Today we took delivery of new Cisco Equipment. Ryan determined that some of our current switching devices could use upgrades and also our core routers could use some memory upgrades. Long story short, things are moving very well under Ryan's direction. Also, effective last monday Jesse Salens is no longer employed with TCH. Happy Surfing! Bill
  14. As a Mac user you should put your Safari browser away and get a copy of Camino. It is a browser with the back end of Mozilla Gecko but built with Mac Style. It is the best browser for Mac OS X. I use it daily in my work at TCH and I have never had a issue with compatibility. Welcome to TCH, I am glad to see another Mac user in the forums. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, I would be glad to share any tips I can. Bill
  15. Thanks everyone for the fine words. We are always striving to be the best host on the face of the planet earth.
  16. Tommy, I can not tell you how good I felt when I read the update to your two year old review. TCH has gone thru some growing pains. moved into our own datacenter and even the loss of our dearest friend TCH-Don. I knew in my heart that we were still providing a great service at a great price. Your newest review affirms my thoughts. Thank you.

  22. At around 5:12AM EST today we experienced a routing issue between our main cisco router and our upstream provider, causing all our traffic between our core router and our upstreams to fall into a unstable status. After initial investigation we were able to determine the issue was not internal and we were required to contact our upstream providers. After contacting our upstream we learned the issue was due to a misconfiguration on the route handoffs for our IP blocks. This was corrected and our traffic started to resume to normal levels. This event is highly unusual and should not have happened. However as we have been growing in our tchnoc we have been using some very advanced routing tables to route our traffic. This was due to the fact that we were not fully routing all of our own layer 3 traffic. A majority of the traffic was being routed by the upstream and they were passing the traffic to us. Back in the middle of september TCH made a major investment and purchased our own Cisco layer 3 routing equipment and we had been in the testing phases for some time. We had planned on taking the hand off of all our layer 3 traffic on Decemeber 1. It was my view that we simply wanted to test the equipement fully and then implement it. I wanted to be fully sure that things were setup correctly. Over the past month we have been segmenting our IP block into smaller segments. We have been working hard to complete this transition, with the end result being better perfomance and quality for our network. Now that this transition is complete, we are already seeing improved performance overall. Long story short our upstreams handed off our direct route to us for our IP block. So that huge Cisco router we bought is now in full operation. I hope that this clears up our short outage from this morning and I assure you that we are working hard to provide the best possible service that we can provide.
  23. I quit on level 27 lol
  24. We are working on the VPS offerings. They should be in the wild in the next 60 days. Bill
