webgyrl Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 Fellow TCH member Twisted and I are exchanging web links and have run accross something funny with a page on my site. For some reason he can't see any of the images on this page http://www.natalie-brown.com/nataliebrown/links.htm Now, I've checked and re-checked using several browsers and different systems and I see the images fine... but he asked some of his friends to check it and they can't see the images. All images were uploaded in Binary mode via Dreamweaver FTP. Is there a reason images would not show up? He cleared cookies, cache, history etc and re-loaded and the same image 'no show' thing happens. Anyone have any insight into why this might be happening? This is really strange and I'd love to get to the bottom of it! Thanks, Nat Quote
cmuskett Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 I see it just fine. I don't know why Twisted can't see them. Quote
boxturt Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 I see everything too but I haven't a clue as to why he can't Quote
Lianna Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 Same here. IE6 shows all images just fine here. What browser is he using? Twisted, make sure that your browser options are set to "Refresh on every visit". Quote
leezard Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 (edited) I see all images fine, if he is using a firewall (usually zonealarm pro is the guilty party but other firewals do it to) try turning off the firewall and then viewing the page. sometimes a firewall will think images on a page are pop up adds (dont ask me why) it happens with zona alarm a LOT. webgyrl Posted July 13, 2003 Author Posted July 13, 2003 I'm baffled by it! Oh well. As fir the Zone Alarm thing, not sure if Twisted has it, but I use ZA (the free version tho) and I can always see images fine when it's on. Thanks for checking it guys, I thought I was going nuts for a second! Quote
Twisted Posted July 13, 2003 Posted July 13, 2003 Ok i tried disableing my firewall, no luck. i set the internet settings as you said above. still no luck. I am running Windows XP Pro and IE6, i even tried to view that page with mozilla and still no luck! This is really getting bothersome. I had this problem before when i was on dial up but i figured it was my ISP, I switched ISP and now have High speed cable internet but i guess the image problem wasn't my old ISP's fault. Windows pisses me off anyways, it has so many issues. So I'm thinking about getting a version of linux and a new hardrive and install that on my other machine in the basement and see how that works out. Quote

Twisted Posted July 14, 2003 Posted July 14, 2003 Sorry about that Twisted. That really sux. I sent ya email with a screen shot of hte page so you can see how it is supposed to look. yeah i sall that. I can't see half of those images on that screen shot. I will try it from another computer here in a few days also I will contact microsoft to see if they know what the problem is. As i said before Windows is a pile of junk. I am beginning to hate it more and more. Quote

Head Guru Posted July 20, 2003 Posted July 20, 2003 Twisted, Is this the same pc that gave you troubles before with graphics not showing up on your home page? Quote
Twisted Posted July 20, 2003 Posted July 20, 2003 That would be it. I tried on my mom's pc that i built her and it works fine. Must be some small setting somewhere that I overlooked. Hmm... Quote
