Moved house a couple of months back to a very rural part of the country - no phone line, but no problem ... wireless broadband is available! Only problem was we waited nearly 6 weeks for installation!

I had no idea how much I relied on the web for everyday tasks!

Anyway, I back now - what's the longest period of time you've been offline for?

Let´s see... I was born 1971 and got internet 1996, so 25 years. :P

Nah, seriously, I haven´t moved or anything under my "internet career", so the longest time I´ve been down was about 12 hours.

One week while we were in St. Lucia, but my hubby was having bad puter withdrawals and a couple days before we left he paid to use the little dial-up connection they had. :thumbup1:

Yeah, it was really rough giving it up to be in the Caribbean...not! :whip:

I had internet access on my cell phone, so usually I never went without it. I have since canceled that service, and now I look for hotels with free wireless (Holiday Inn and Microtel are good ones). Once I stayed in a Ramada that didn't... but luckily the pizza place next door did... and I just happened to be right on the "border" so I got a very slow connection, but it was a connection none the less.

I don't know if this will win or not but.....

I live so far out in the country that I can only get dial up (that's right, not even dsl is avail), the best part. My house is so far from the box that my highest speed so far is 24.k. What makes that even worse is I have cable at work so I have to feel the difference constantly.

See now I look at this question and ask

Why would you ever want to be away from your Family....

We are here We miss you and if you really want to know how bad

simply ask Bill how his laptop travels while throwing worms at the banks in the spring from his bass boat and still being capable of communicating with the family in those rare emergencies :)
