  1. Thomas: all the airports along the Atlantic coast are closed from Miami up to Melbourne. Don't know about Orlando. Jim, hindsight is always 20-20. But I keep thinking about how much money I would have blown in Sloppy Joe's (as I did last year when I was down there working for a month! ) and I don't feel as bad! I'm cleaning stuff up here and getting ready for the whole thing to move my way in P'cola. They're talking wind and rain Monday-Tuesday for us. Only time wil tell!
  2. yeah...not good. I'm "supposed to" travel back down to Ft. Lauderdale on Tuesday. (Key words here is "supposed to".)
  3. It was also very busy from Orlando up the turnpike to I75, and all the way to I10. I was happy I decided to leave Thursday morning at 2:00! No major problems...everyone was moving along just nicely but a LOT of traffic even at that early hour. I don't know if it is because we just had Charley a few weeks ago or people remember Andrew, but I don't recall seeing any panic or people just freaking out. Everyone seemed to be doing what they were told in an orderly, timely fashion. Hunker down folks! Hopefully it won't hit too hard up here in Pensacola! Hurricane Francis
  4. Buy what you can down there, as the news is reporting that plywood and generators are in short supply here in Ft Lauderdale/Miami area. Personally, I'm driving home to Pensacola early tomorrow morning.
  5. seeing as i'm on the road over 250 days a year and spend a lot of time in hotels, the common paper I see delivered to rooms at hotels is USA Today. So that would be my guess.
  6. we'll know more at the next update, but the 8:00 track prediction takes it north into the Daytona area. I'm working just north of samrc (in Ft. Lauderdale) and HAD plans to go to Melbourne this weekend. We shall see! Here we go again!

    Online

What I've done in the past is make up a quick index.html page that contains something like "Under construction" or "Be up soon". Then, simply rename your actual index.html index1.html or something like that. That way, when your ready to go live, just delete the temporary index.html and rename the index1.html to index.html and your ready to go!
  8. Soccer (or futbol for our European family members) and hockey for me.
  9. I passed this on to all of my older relatives!
  10. TCH Friend: You are in my thoughts and prayers. Cancer can be beaten. For a great example, look at Lance Armstrong. You can do it too!
  11. As one who has been to Thailand many times, I can confirm that this is a 1-Baht coin. All Thailand money has a picture of the King of Thailand on it.
  12. Sure, no problem! I always have an extra $100k laying around not doing anything!
  13. Curious...do you think mandrake would work on an older laptop (P333 Gateway)?
  14. Congrat's!
  15. Tracy: I've got Win2K and Fedora Core2 dual booted on my home system. FC is lightning fast compared to Windoze. There is a bit of a learning curve, but with "The Linux King" on here, it's pretty easy! I think you'll love it.
  16. I can relate to some of the issues. But being a relative *nix noob, I just figured it was part of the learning curve...which I have no problem with. I mean, ya gotta start somewhere, right? (Still haven't figured out the sound card issue yet, but I'm still looking and reading help files and forums!) I guess I must have been the "odd one" in the bunch. My install went pretty flawless with no problems. Been using it all since last weekend and haven't seen it hiccup once. I've even connected up to my DSL (haven't tried the modem yet) with no issues and it seems to be running faster than Windoze. Just my $.02!
  17. Rob: You can move to here to the Gulf Coast of Florida. All you have to do is dodge the occasional hurricane. There's more of a problem from lightning strikes.
  18. Just installed a new hard drive and dualboot with FC2 and windoze. Install was a piece of cake and went very smooth! Been using it all w/e and haven't found any problems yet! A lot faster and just as easy as Microsuck (IMHO). Good luck with your install!
  19. This even made cnn.com. (CNN.com story) I've now removed IE and using nothing but Firefox and soon I'll be dispensing with Micro$oft totally. Thumbs Up Getting a little tired of contantly "updating"! Microsoft
  20. I upgraded and installed over .9 yesterday. No problems at all! Thumbs Up In fact, I like it so much, I deleted Explorer! (I can just hear my company's IT department!)
  21. verb
  22. That's why I love these forums! You can learn so much from everybody! Thumbs Up
  23. I've usually seen the slash written as </li> or </br>. It's called an end tag. Per my HTML 4 book that I consult quite frequently ( ) the <br> command doesn't require an end tag. You probably won't hurt anything by removing them, but it won't hurt anything to leave them in either. As I was once told..."If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" EDIT: thanx btrfld! I'm just typing too slow this a.m. Need more coffee!
  24. I also use sqmail to check my domain accounts several times each day. I haven't noticed any particular slowdowns on my server (#23).

    Antivirus

I have both ZA and NAV on my company laptop (my installation...not theirs). They coexist quite peacefully together...much better than McAfee AV ever did. I DID, however, break down and purchase the annual subscription. I've been bit by that animal before and did not enjoy the weekend I spent restoring everything. (Thank God for backups!)
