  1. still, the main majority of computer use is windows, so logically the bulk of attacks will be aimed at windows machines. if not as "totally" secure as before it still should remain safer than windows.
  2. it's simply trying to load a web page it certainly looks more sinister than that when i first seen it!
  3. topic is as it says on the tin? i assume it's trying to connect to a server, from what i have seen in recent news, possibly is it trying to hijack me and use my pc for sending spam? needless to say a spyware sweep etc is imminent!
  4. also try and see how you can block the word proxy in a site, as if the guy's clued up you can get on "banned sites" through a proxy website. i used to use them to get on myspace and youtube and where the site contains for example www.thenameoftheproxysite.net//nph-proxy.pl/010110A/http/www.totalchoicehhosting.com/
  5. thanks for the advice. i had to leave a lecture, i was so tired i couldnt see the keyboard, i was actually losing my sight! thank god i don't drive, the had me having 2 or 4 second "microsleeps" bit of fish and chips had me ok, and now i feel like im going to collapse, so hopefully ill get a nice sleep in too ill try the above suggestions soon
  6. well.. that sums it up perfectly! around 2 nights a week i cant sleep (normally the ones like now leading up to 9am starts) and it's a pain to say the least, i'm missing scheduled events etc etc. and missing the day, infact sometimes (say a weekend) i sleep 7am-5pm i see no daylight! is there anything that can be done to help? im staying away from any chemical/drugs route, as sleeping tablets/syrups are not a good idea (in my opinion) something to be relied upon! just like beer, ok once or twice but not for larger cases. it's mainly i think, my head doesnt 'shut down' or things like high wind get on my nerves.
  7. ok so intel... when they advertise themselves they say intel core duo processors then at the end play "the jingle" thats understandable as its their advert. but say a chain of stores or somwhere else advertises them on TV say Dell computers when they say intel, it always plays the little intel theme. do they have to by some form of contract or rule play this? one day well we have to whistle it when we speak of intel.. (*whistles theme just in case*) anyways like i say silly question, but one i have always wondered about!
  8. looks like ticket time!
  9. i have been told that im using around 90% of space i look at cpanels home screen and it says 587.68 Megabytes used i go into file manager and 224 + 69 mb aint 587! thats including public html and backups. other folders such as mail are neglble size. is there any hidden files i should be aware of?
  10. best meteorological mess up wash a guy called Michael fish in England, in the 80's he predicted a beautiful summers day. but that day a tornado struck and destroyed a lot of stuff. i can't wait for the first snow storm hopefully thomas' snow is making its way east for me to enjoy

  12. spam assasin is good, but most people have that enabled already. this topic may be useful
  13. spam.. im getting this too, the initial text is "yoda speak" something like "interested in toast and jam you were?" its all financial investment stuff, and coming though one of my addresses and also another tch one that i have not publicized! spam assassin is on too.
  14. I have to comment, TCH have went an extra mile today, they have run circles round any other tech support i have emailed! i requested a domain name related issue, and within 10 mins the ticket had been answered and my account changed. i thought i would add this compliment to the team amongst the few people who have been wondering what's going on at TCH HQ.
  15. this has happened on another non tch hosted forum i use as well as Invision Power Services forum, wonder what was happening!
  16. alright wozza told you the TCH lot are good check out the hosting plans $44 a year basic is what i have. there is various web tools out there, i forgot to say to you on the other forums, look for a magazine called computer arts they sometimes have decent free "website maker" programs in

  19. ><img src="img/3_yarn_6_socks.jpg" alt="our best grey socks" height="138" width="243"> that looks to me to be right its looking in the "img" folder for 3_yarn_6_socks.jpg if that can not load use the alt tag confusing! edit - posted just before bruces reply, i shall check both solutions.

    Tooltips

hello, ive noticed on many sites that have abbiviations or 'jargon' in text they offer a tooltip, this is underlined with a dotted line, and when you hover over it the mouse icon becomes a '?' as well as in a small box displaying the chosen text. is this code w3c compliant and what is it if you know? i'd like to use it to make things more 'plain english' thanks
  25. in all respects computers do go wrong. lets say you buy a PC from a company "computer co" (for purposes of demo) your typing away without a care in the world and bang, off. the PC has gone off... who do you blame, MS since word didn't autosave in time? "computer co" cause its the fault of them for it? as with any computer the end user is responsible for a sensible backup procedure in my 8 years of using computers in education and in work scenarios "a responsible saving/backup method is essential" in the 2 or 3 blips i have had with TCH even if they are my fault they support has always been tip top. today my server is going a bit mad, automated emails saying "sorry about this" which i think is fantastic TCH is budget but i feel it takes the extra mile where others dont no web host is 100% uptime, if they are they are probably telling something that is not the truth. I'm not jumping in just to defend the TCH team, but more to say backups are always, online or off line up to the user, again auto save in word is not fail safe!
