ok bought some altec lansing 5.1 speakers today. i have a 5.1 soundcard, nice a Realtek HD i think (came with my pc - a HP) so i plug the right plugs in the right bits, and set the speakers in. when i get windows to do the little test speaker by speaker they are not what they say they are, say a rear speaker will sound the sub. and myspace plays music from the rear but media player plays it from the front Home Cinema uses all the speakers? anyone have a clue why its all different and annoying cheers everything is connected and according to the books edit - could this be since some things will only play in stereo, so only surround sound things will use all speakers?

hi, just an update had some messages of a forum user, to see if i had fixed this. what it is, is a terrible setup procedure, you turn the card on, once and it only goes and forgets that you actually want WLAN switched on! to activate this you must on every system startup press FN (function) and F1 (function button on laptops is often next to the bottom left windows key) it should beep, and display an 1980's acorn looking logo saying its on, connect to the network in the usual way an voila! hope this will help anyone with the same issue!

asides a few images i need to put in take (need some in the train station, and its hard to get them without getting told off!) (it's a travel site for a project) it's all done.. thanks ever so much to everyone that has helped in any way, shape or form! have some e-gold :)

aha don! cracked it!! thanks ever so much! it was the domain thing! goldielookin.co.uk/phpphp works. (bits of it at current dont work as i need to change the code) php is still a pain, but at least it works and after slashing the slashes... it works

looks to be what i could be looking for, i'll have a hard read and play round with the code, if not im just going to have to go to back to SSI and log the fact PHP made me almost throw any PC devices through the window

so id have to assign them all to my exact web address i.e www.mysite.com/image/header.gif seems annoying since i have to put them in the test area then also put the main folder! tried http://testing.goldielookin.co.uk/images/title.gif (i.e full path) and still no joy!

hmm.. just test uploaded it and it's killed all the images

i remember SSI could load in an external file, so you could say tell it to ><!--#include file=/web design/navigation.html" --> and it would include the navigation bar in your page, advantages of this were if you needed to add something at a later date you could do this changing one file not many, it was also good for say footers where © 2006 would need to be 2007 soon. anyways, how do i do this in php, i tried a code, it worked but none of the images worked. if it helps im making these using slices from imageready and putting nav.php in a frame the code i used (and i think its wrong) is ><div id="Layer2"> <?include("nav.php"); ?> </div> ive looked on php sites but "techno babble" just confused me

wondered why i had to re-login, ive been using 2.2 for a a day on another forum i use and the upgrades are great! the profiles are trying to be a little myspace, other than that the fast reply option is much better and the include of spoiler and acronym tags are a great one, especially on a "tech" forum like this hope the upgrade goes well, i hear plugins and add on's can be a pain to reprogram

Flash Lite is flash scaled down for mobile content, i've looked at the support pages, and it seems only symbian based phones, i.e a lot of nokia's which i really dont like support it. it says sony ericsson 'ship' it with it's handsets but i cant play flash on the k750i i need to be able to it as im developing mobile content using flash lite settings. any idea if there is a java based player just for testing or a flash plugin compatible with the sony ericsson k750i thanks i've tried looking but google search for 'k750i flash player' brings up a fruitless search
