  1. Yes and you change the servers there. This will minimize the downtime.
  2. Jeff, It depends, do you have cPanel at your current host? If not you will need to use an FTP program to move your site. If you have a copy on your local hard drive as you should then all you have to do is upload your files to your space here. The problem is your databases and getting them moved. If you have cPanel then follow Dons steps above. If you cant get cPanel to make a back up we can try and assist or you will need your current hosts help. Get your space here forst and transfer your files before you change your name servers to ours at your registrar. DNS can take 72 hours to fully make the change. Can you experience down time the full 72 hours? Yes. Will you for sure. Probably not. It can be different for each hosting transfer. What is your setup like there? Do you have a copy on your hard drive?

  4. 1. Get your hosting account here. 2. Upload your site to your space here. (tough to do if you cant do a backup of your databases). 3. Point your name servers here. Someone may be along that can assist better in how you can transfer your files.
  5. Welcome Home, Don't forget to stop over at the Introductions forum and get a proper welcome. Thumbs Up

  9. If you are going to let everyong see everything in all subdomains and are the only one doing the uploads then no you do not need to pasword protect anything.

  12. As far as I know this has been put on hold indefinitely. We have a few more irons in the fire that need tending too.

  15. Tough, even though the starter package is big it is inexpensive as well. Most resellers can not compete with the prices we have here so you may end up paying more for less.
  16. The hard part about that is we do not own osCommerce, it is bundled with cPanel. I have been toying with the idea of a basic setup tutorial with pictures but am not sure about the legality of it as we dont own the software.
  17. This has been discussed previously, we do not have intentions to install Fantastico in the near future.

  19. One shouldnt be using a router to protect against viri. They are used to route traffic. They can be configured as a security device to prevent specific traffic from entering a network but I would not rely on that as your only means of protection. A hardware router, updated anti-virus program and paying attention to what you download and open is your best bet. Things like Zone Alarm are good i you are worried about what you dl/open in email and spyware because it lets you know something is trying to make an outbound connection to the internet and asks if you want it to. I use my router and av alone, the software firewall can be used if you are really concerned about safety.

  21. My first MLB game was at the Rangers home field when I was a kid. Almost got hit in the head with a fly ball. Second game I was going to go to was the Diamondbacks in 2001. Game day was the day a couple of buildings fell back east. I dont go to games anymore. I hope your trip to the game went well Bill, I cant wait to do the same with mine.
  22. Zen Cart is from some of the people that used to contribute to osCommerce. I really like Zen alot. Given a little time and some more integrations of contribution type items and I think it will take osc. Worth a look if one is considering osc as well.

  24. Don, I tried it when I first started here. I am not too bright when it comes to some of this stuff and couldnt get through the manual at all. I gave up on it and tried osCommerce. I still use osCommerce today. Of the carts offered in cPanel osCommerce is the best IMHO. Since you are still in the start from scratch mode I would give the other one a try. I just deleted the folder from my web space to remove Interchange. I can not answer the issue with the tutorial.
  25. Yeah, although the phone camera is nice I cant think of a need for one for me. I will keep my cell and if anyone is looking for my b-day in September I would like a CoolPix please.
