  1. Salut François, et bienvenu à votre nouvelle famille!
  2. That worked - thanks! I changed my password just in case.
  3. Wow! Is that what happened to Boxturt? That's one heckuva security gap! Thank you SO MUCH for the clear instructions - it worked perfectly! Or at least I'm assuming it's secure now. I was sweatin' it as I'm an SQL dunce and have never even used File Manager in Cpanel before, but I had no problem understanding your directions or finding where I needed to go. You are amazing!! OK, spoke too soon. I can't get into my guestbook admin. I click on Admin, enter my username and password, it takes me to the admin page, but when I click on anything it takes me back out to the username and password screen again. Any suggestions?
  4. LOL Glenn Welcome to the family, Jon!
  5. I wish I could be out eating fajitas and drinking margaritas, but alas this chica is watching those darn calories. I will, however, make some good for me tacos or quesadillas as I've GOT to have something mexican-ish tonight.
  6. Got everything up and running - thanks Kasey! Cleaned up my drive, got XP installed without a hitch (knock on wood), and slowly but surely installed all the expansions in the order they recommend. I did notice a difference this time - it asked me to go back and insert the Deluxe CDs again for two of the expansions so it could update something. Makin Magic also loads a TON faster than it was before. No crashes yet! Unfortunately instead of spending hours in front of the puter tonight I have to (gasp) clean! Company coming tomorrow. Darn RL interfering with my computer time! hehe
  7. Kasey - I'm going to be upgrading (soon I hope!) to XP. The original game and older expansions will still work on XP, correct?
  8. Thanks so much! Kasey, I am going to try that. I have a ton of walls, floors, and other objects I've downloaded, but they all check out clean on File Cop so I'll back them up and start over. I THINK I loaded everything in the right order last time, but I'll make double sure this time. I'll do the defrag while I'm out shopping - it's going to take that long! I'm just sad to hear that EA puts out such unstable products. :/ I never had any problems with the original game and Livin' Large.
  9. Yikes!! I did not know that! I'm glad you said something. I went into my e-mail and had almost 250 messages sitting there.
  10. I must be on a different Blogger server or something (unless it is something to do with the TCH changes) because except for that one night, I've had no more issues publishing. Went through first try just now. Brich - looks like you got it through. I'm glad - I don't want to have to go through Everyday Housewife blog withdrawals!!
  11. NO support is as good as TCH. But remember - I'm used to dealing with Sony EverQuest's support (or complete lack thereof) so EA really can't be much worse. At least they responded to me within a day. I was thinking I might have to take ALL Sims stuff off (I only had the original and Livin' Large before this weekend) and install one at a time, trying it out each time to see which one is crashing me. That's going to be fun.
  12. It went from 4 to MX to MX 2004
  13. I have to wonder if it's another glitch with how Radeon cards work with DirectX 9. Unfortunately I can't remove 9, but perhaps if/when my hubby gets around to upgrading me to XP, it will not be an issue.
  14. Jennifer - Brich and I have both been having problems with Blogger/Haloscan the past week or so. It took me a while last night to publish, but I think it's mostly Haloscan to blame since the comments don't even come up half the time. But as you said, this is the first time I've had any issues at all. I can still publish though - you might want to keep trying to send it through. And I totally agree with your assessment of the software. However I am NOT willing to mess around with (mess up?!) my own program. hehe I guess I'm somewhat lazy - if it suits my purposes, I don't try to make it something bigger and better.
  15. I get this all the time on my verizon account. Anymore I get more spam than real mail.
  16. There are no specific ones for this monitor (nice generic one). Anyway, if this thing can handle EQ with no problems, it SURE ought to handle the Sims. Help desk asked me to call them, so I guess I'll start my week of vacation by troubleshooting. :/
  17. Sound and vid card drivers are as current as they come for Win 98. Under monitor it says both default and Plug and Play. I assume that's ok?
  18. More woes. The game is crashing to desktop if I try to bulldoze a house or move in a family. Sent my diag to their help guys a few minutes ago. Hopefully they'll find something useful. Otherwise I just wasted $150 bucks. Some days I really hate computers. Think I'll go drown my sorrows in a cider and some pizza. heh
  19. This is the code I use on my site to remove underlines: <style type="text/css"> a, a:link {text-decoration: none; } a:hover { color: #D7688E; text-decoration: none } </style>
  20. Could be your ISP, or some point between you and your page rather than IE.
  21. OK, I posted this once and it never showed up, so forgive me if I'm making a duplicate post. I purchased the rest of the expansion packs for The Sims today, got them all installed, game is working fine (although it takes longer than EQ to load!), but my graphics are less than stellar. The edges are poorly defined, especially on the people themselves. The faces are so out of focus as to give me a headache, the bodies look awful, and I can see the lines of color load when they move. I have a Radeon 9200 video card, DirectX 9, latest drivers I can find, and I've searched their help database. I tried a few things, but none of them worked. Has anyone experienced this problem or have any suggestions? Kristi
  22. Awesome MikeJ!! I agree - great choice!
  23. Seriously. ME is nasty. I paid for the darn thing and kept it for less than 2 months because it did nothing but mess things up. Better to work on 98 than ME.
  24. I love Dreamweaver - I used Netscape Composer when I first started out, tried Frontpage and hated it with a passion, then got Dreamweaver and will never go back.
  25. Ohhh yikes. Sorry to hear that VI.
