Please read the thread I mentioned carefully. The /cgi-sys directory is not in your webspace, it is a systemwide directory that all can use. If you follow the directions in the thread it will work.

It's not supposed to be in your cgi-bin directory. Please read the thread I mentioned earlier and look at the format. It actually is pretty easy to use once you see the format of the ACTION code.

All servers have cgiemail installed. Please see this thread for information on how to use it.

Submit a Help Desk ticket and give us the information and we can park your second domain on top of your primary domain.

This is the first part of the paragraph in the AUP under Web Sites. We are not out policing sites to try and find violators of the AUP but when questions are asked that approach or cross the line we do try to address them. This is always in the context of other parts of the AUP as well. We look at each case and try and determine if the situation is detrimental to the other users on the server. The red flag in the original question was in wanting some sort of external (i.e. server level) control of the space someone else is using in a subdomain. This is a feature easily controlled in a reseller account but not needed in a regular account. The account owner is responsible for everything in his or her site and is given a good amount of control over it. I see it as apples and oranges when making the comparisons of family members having subdomains and friends. If a friend is maintaining part of your site and that friend violates other parts of the AUP, the entire account is subject to suspension or termination. The person of record on the account is therefore responsible. So if that friend uploads mp3's and the RIAA comes looking, the whole site gets shut down. Domains are less than the cost of a movie ticket and popcorn. $44 a year for webhosting and all the bells and whistles we offer is a small price even for a site just for fun.

You could try adding an entry to your hosts file. You still will be limited to some degree but you just add: xxx.xx.xxx.xx orangehairedboy.com xxx.xx.xxx.xx www.orangehairedboy.com xxx.xx.xxx.xx ftp.orangehairedboy.com xxx.xx.xxx.xx mail.orangehairedboy.com xxx.xx.xxx.xx etc.orangehairedboy.com (add any subdomains you might use) Replace the x's with your ip address.

FrontPage will do Goofy things before the domain has propagated. I am seeing your site using the IP address so you have been able to upload something. If you upload via ftp and then use FrontPage it will be unhappy as well. In running a Whois I see that the nameservers are still set for another host (I transferred here from there as well) so the domain will not propagate until the nameservers are changed. FrontPage works much better after propagation using http mode. Submit a Help Desk ticket if you would like me to look at it further. It's pretty slow right now so I'd be glad to see if something is set up incorrectly.

Is there a particular analyzer you are wanting to use? There has been a post here in the past of a method for making Webalizer stats available outside of cPanel.

I do the same. Just create an index.html file and put it there so that no index will show up.

If anyone else out there is a Lockergnome subscriber, you may have seen today's download suggestion. CoreFTP is a free FTP client. I haven't used it a lot yet but find it to be very clean and it has lots of features including right click access to properties so you can change permissions, etc. Give it a try by downloading from http://www.coreftp.com.

Please check it out and see if things are working correctly now. I think the problem is fixed. Both of you are on server 24 so hopefully things are back to normal.

I do load GAim and Yahoo Messenger when I run Red Hat. But I love having Trillian in Windows since it will load my AIM, Y!, MSN, ICQ, plus the plugins for todo lists and checking pop3 accounts. I really like having all that in one program.

I have Red Hat 9 and Windows XP on my laptop. I also have Trillian which has no Linux version or I'd use Red Hat a lot more. Borfast's comments about Wine reminded me that I had not tried it since installing Red Hat 9. I had some problems with it on Mandrake so haven't done much with it. I installed it tonight and am ran Trillian through Wine. It worked for a while but locked up so looks like I'll play with tweaking it later and see if I can get it to run.

And let me encourage you to use :blackhole: over :fail:. It is much cleaner and less prone to bouncing emails laying around in the mail queue. Many spammers use nonexistent email addresses so it's best just to delete the message and be done with it.

I think you'll be happier. You'll have a lot more control and can create accounts for your domains yourself.

I do want to clarify, you can have as many domains as you want parked on top of your primary domain but all must point to the public_html directory of your primary site, i.e. entering mydomain2.com will look the same as entering mydomain1.com. You may not point other domains to a subdirectory on your site unless you have a reseller account. This includes redirecting by means outside of TCH such as through your registrar.

Glad it is working for you now. Usually changing 777 permissions to 755 on cgi scripts and directories containing cgo scripts will run fine if suexec is running on the server.

Try setting the directory permissions to 755 even if the directions say to set them to 777.
