I just installed a new motherboard. Put in the hard drive and when I turn it on I get this: a problem has been found and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer technical info: STOP: 0x00000087b ( 0xF7966640, 0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000 ) I slaved the hard drive to my pc and ran virus check. Found and removed one trojan downloader. I removed the ram and put in a stick from another pc that is running fine. I unhooked both dvd and the cdrom so that only the hard drive was hooked up. Same blue death screen. It also has a brand new power supply. ( I just built one exactly the same for another client that runs great. Same motherboard, same p.supply. ) When I took the hdrive out of the other one that runs great, it starts going to windows then restarts the bios post. I put the other clients hdrive back in and it only goes to the blue screen. any ideas on this anyone? MADMAN??? I am going to think on it awhile and check back. thanks in advance.

Ok so I am wondering what some of you use for copying folders and subfolders to a dvd. I am looking for a little program that will copy, i.e., a PHOTOS folder, including all the subfolders like, summer06, xmas06, vacation06, etc, and keep the same hierarchy. thanks

That's the problem, as far as I can see.... you can get a red flag and not deserve it but it's going to BE THERE for quite some time before McAfee decides to review your site again. So if someone comes to my site and has it installed, they will see the red flag and go elsewhere. That's WRONG. My site has NO FORMS to fill out and I send out NO EMAIL of any kind. It's just a bad deal as far as I can see; and no way to fight it. Hmm, maybe a lawsuit threat?

Or.......... have her try Firefox

Thanks everyone for the comments. I tend to take Madman's word as gospel and that's how I will play it. Thanks again everyone.

Hey TCHers, What are the recent pros and cons to VISTA? Has anyone tried it out yet?
-
I would be glad to help also. will it affect my hosted domains and what email address is used?
-
Well, I see nothing wrong at all. Any help I have ever needed has come graciously from the forum and if I had to use a help ticket I got no less than fantastic results. I love TCH, just the way it is. My hats off to all of you.

Well, site advisor red-flagged me saying after filling out forms they recieved 2.1 spam emails per week. I wrote them and told them that I HAVE NO FORMS to fill out so that can't be right. They said I would have to wait until I came around for another test before it would change. Therefore - They have me red-flagged for no reason. MCAFEE SITE ADVISOR

I just put a new motherboard in this ol' e-machine. Maybe 4 yrs old (?) and when the welcome screen comes up I click on the only user and It says I need to activate windows. I say OK and a window comes up saying windows is already activated and for me to click OK to exit. This takes me back to the welcome screen where I can shut down or log on. Clicking to log on starts the whole vicious circle again. Anybody ever see this happen before? I hope ! Thanks in advance TCH ers

Thanks to everyone for their advice/help on this problem. The problem was solved by reinstalling windows.

I put one of my own hdrives in it and it wouldn't even boot it???????? Sledge hammer is starting to look real good. ( heh heh )

Jim, I changed them but it made no difference. They still show up in the bios as cd-rom readers, both of them. One is a dvd. That kind of bugs me a bit.

IDE - 1 = HDRIVE ONLY SECONDARY IDE - DVD FIRST AND CDRW SECOND Both are set to cable select. It is how they were from the beginning when they worked. She doesn't know at what point they said good-bye. She told me today that she went through a bunch of stuff with Dell and they gave up and said she would have to send it in. I noticed the bios is A05 and wonder if a bios upgrade would do any good???

When I plugged the hdrive into secondary I got the blue screen: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: STEP 1: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need. STEP 2: If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software, or try to run Chkdsk after a restart of the computer. chkdsk came up clean. I already checked for windows updates. System is up to date. I tried the ROXIO fix and it came up with no change. The ms knowledge base assisted registry fix simply looked at the registry and came back with: class already exists. If I uninstall the secondary ide and reboot it finds and lists the dvd and cdrom drives in device mgr with the dreaded yellow ! . But after a reboot or two the two drives disappear from device mgr and it lists the secondary ide with the dreaded yellow !
-
after reading the article , I DID do the uninstall thing and get that same code 19 message. Even though the bios sees them ( both drives ) could I be looking at a bad secondary ide, motherboard wise? I put the xp dell re-install disk in and re-booted but it wasn't found.

That IS the registry key I removed. Made no difference. I haven't, however done the uninstall vs remove device drivers. better try that.
