I love it when I post a question that gets good input and TCH'ers are the champs. I'm like Madman, Procrastinating that Linux trial on a pc. But , I am about ready to give it a go. How does the Linux browser line handle such things as popup ads, virus crap, etc?

Does anyone know of a program that will identify the network device on a laptop? It has win98se ( ugh ) on it, and doesn't recognize the device. I need to identify it in order to download drivers and get the laptop to go online. thanks for any help :tchrocks:

Is anyone running Opera and using the voice commands? I even bought a new mike but whenever I try a voice command she always says " sorry, I did not understand". Can't find any solutions to it. If I highlite text in the browser and press "v" on keyboard she reads it ok, but I can't get any voice results other than " sorry, I did not understand", thanks in advance.

I just noticed that I have 3 subdomains that all of a sudden have no images nor backgrounds showing. I uploaded an index file and overwrote but it makes no difference. code seems to be fine. It hasn't changed nor have I changed anything. They were just fine last time I looked. Is there a server thing going on? Anyone know of this happening? thanks.

Hi TCH'ers. Need some input. My daughter created a movie of pictures with windows movie maker. How do I burn the movie to a dvd and make it play on the television? I used winavi converter every way possible ( I think ) and then burned to dvd with cdxp burner pro. Had no luck. Anyone out there do this that can tell me what I need to do? I converted to dvd, to mpeg2, etc. Failure. Does the dvd disk matter, dvd-r, +r, +/- rw??? thanks.

Yes. I liked the look of Viper and it seemed to work well. But, I got an email saying to upgrade and when I went to the site it said : The Viper project is dead and recommended to download the deinstall. Actually, when I went in to fantasico it let me upgrade ??????? But, I removed it anyway.

and then how do I run the install? by putting path in browser? like ****/guestbook/install.php ? I tried that and got this: Could not select the database because: Access denied for user 'mic'@'localhost' to database 'mikes'

Is my base url : http://www.mysite/guestbook ?? I left it at 'localhost' but it didn't work

So, do I create a folder under public_html to upload to? and do I upload the lazarus.zip or each individual folder/files?

I have been using Viper, but they have apparantly quit. So what would you folks recommend for a replacement? I see from other posts that Lazarus is spoken well of , but I don't know Mysql . The setup instructions with Lazarus don't really explain to me how to set the right path to upload and use it. Your ideas? Thanks in acvance

Thanks Bob, I had a feeling you would say that so I will see If he has the windows disk. It's out of a Dell so he probably has a recovery disk at least. thanks.
