Dan, Are you wanting to pay for just one month in advance, or are you trying to sign up for yearly hosting?

Silica, You might not be aware, but TCH has moved from an older billing system, like the one you describe, to a new billing system that allows you to manage that information online. You might submit a help desk ticket to see if your account has been transferred to teh new billing system. If it hasn't yet, I believe you can request to be transferred to the new system. But the help desk may be able to give you access to the online account management interface you seek. Good luck.

I didn't mean to imply the Gmail is the standard. All I mean is that its not just some random webhost that blocks the .exe attachments. There are major corporations that do the same for security purposes. While you and I know enough to not double-click on a .exe attachment we weren't expecting, there are many users who don't. Another solution you could try, if uploading the file to your webspace wouldn't work, is to simply rename the file. Instead of file.exe, you could rename it to file.exe.remove_this, and then instruct your users to remove the ".remove_this" extension. Or your could rename it to "file" and have your users rename it to "file.exe" In any case, I hope you find the answers you are looking for, and a webhost that provides you with the services you seek.

Jbaker, Welcome to the forums. I'll leave it to one of the techs to speak to the specifics of your question as I use TCH servers for my e-mail, though I believe the forwarded messages work fine, as I've never heard anybody complain about it. As for filtering .exe files, your former ISP isn't the only one; Did you know that Google's email system, Gmail, doesn't let you send .exe files as attachments? If you are having trouble emailing certain file types, you might consider providing a link to them on your webspace. Uploade the .exe or .reg file to your webspace, and send your customers (or whoever) a link to the file. If you are worried about the security of that, then you might password protect the direcory the file resides in, and provide individual users with credientials to access the directory. I hope you find what you are looking for in a web host. I've found TCH to be the most reliable web host out ther with fantastic (!!) support both here in the forums and from the help desk. TCH is run by people who genuinely care and want to make you experience positive. You can IM the owner of the company if you have any questions. What other company do you do business whith whose AIM screen name you have? Anyway, good luck! Thanks for stopping by the forums. Hope you stick around.

Welcome to the family!!! If ever you have a server question about something not working, usually a quick trip (and I do mean quick) to the help desk will have you on your way in no time. Glad you decided to join! You won't regret it!

Sorry to see you go. However, even your exit proves how great TCH is. Even for a customer who is deterimed to leave, TCH bends over backward to make you happy. If you ever need hosting again, I hope you come back to TCH. We'd love to see you again.

I use it a little bit. I find it particularly useful for me when I can set up a reminder and have it sent to my cell phone. That is my favorite feature. (Its also available wtih other online calendar programs, too, I know.) I'm intrigued by the calendar sharing options. I think that could be useful, particularly with the Google hosted e-mail for your domain. With that calendar, other users in your organization could share calendars as needed. That seems like it could be powerful. I wish I knew how to synch my Palm pilot with it. I dont' know how to get it to synch with any other program, so that is why I don't really use it much.

Karen, My first suggestion for you would be to open a help desk ticket. Provide the help desk with the account information (including login information) for your old site. They'll check to see if they can make the transfer for you. That would be the most painless route. If they can't make the transfer for you, then there will be some manual work on your end (as noted above.) If the help desk can't transfer your site directly, then post back and we'll see if we can't give you some more specific tips. [Randy's "keepin' it real" disclaimer] If you end up having to do it manually, you might decide to seek help (or at least supervision) from one of your techy friends, or contract somebody to do it for you. Transferring the site will require not only downloading all the files from your old host, and uploading them here at your new host, but you'll also have to chage any configuration properties for software that you have installed (like IPB, etc.) While you can probably figure it out with some coached help from the forums, you may get to the point that you decide that you aren't ready for it yet at this point. That is okay. I'm sure you know somebody who can help you with the transition, if needed. It's okay to have somebody show you. Milk before meat, if you know what I mean. Good luck!! Again, I'm glad you've joined us at TCH!

Thanks Thomas. Does anybody know if this resolves the bug mentioned in this thread: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...showtopic=28143 I.e. can I allow people to register again on my blogs?

My parents have the following printer in their home office (link to HP's website): http://tinyurl.com/ozmjr We have this printer only connected to the network. (It connects directly via ethernet cable to the house router.) To set it up on any computer on the network, you connect via the printer's IP address. When you install the HP software on any network computer, you have full access to all the printer's capabilities, including scanning. It seems that while Windows XP doesn't support it from the OS, HP has created software that allows you to do it anyway. Works like a charm. My parents love it. One of the great things is that even though you have to be at the device to feed the items to be scanned, you can determine on the device itself where the items will scan to. So you can stand at the scanner and scan any number of items, and then just go to the computer or network drive you scanned to to pick up the .jpg images. Or you can have them sent to any e-mail address. And if you are doing a series of pages, you can have them load in the page loader. Each page is sent as a separate image. It's really sweet.
