I've used Outpost before. Once you get it to learn which programs you will allow to access the 'net and which sites you trust it works great. Now I use a NAT router and windows built in firewall.

I would imagine you could. It would be quite a bad move for them if they didn't allow some upgrade path. Second I am sure that they will migrate since this forum used to be version 1.3Final before version 2 came out. And nobody had to resubscribe and no posts were lost.

Paul, yes they do still work when the permissions are changed back. You could always just copy/paste the information into the .htaccess file and then you don't have to change the perms at all.

In IPB 1.2 there are several things you need to do. 1. Your uploads folder must be set to 777 permissions. 2. You have to allow uploads into your forums via forum permissions. 3. You need to modify the groups to set the upload size you will accept.

As Don says, the new version is no longer free. I believe that you can get the Invision people to install it for you for a fee if you are unable to do it yourself.

The benefit if purchasing a domain name here is the nameservers will be automaitcally configured for you. There are no banners regardless if you choose to get your domain somewhere else. Either monthly or annually depending on which method you sign up with. There are no hidden charges. You can cancel anytime. I would allow at least a week before your billing cycle, formally you need to give 30 days notice. Although I don't think you will want to leave once you sign up. The techs do not install and configure software you wish to run. There is a tutorial written to install Wordpress on the help site. If you run into problems the forum would be the place to request help and there are plenty of people here that will help you get it going.
